Hi, I got paid for all of my auctions and there packages are sent but they keep getting invoices from ebay telling them congratulations on winning and I prefer paypal etc. How do I stop those invoices from being sent after they already paid for the item.

Did you sign up for PayPal to send invoices for you? If so, that might be the culprit - PayPal is usually very quick to send out the invoices shortly after the auction ends. However, every now and then they get delayed and send them late, and it seems like you are hounding the buyer even after getting payment. For that reason, I stopped using the PayPal invoices.

There were also times in the past month that eBay did not send their end-of-auction notice (the initial one stating that the winning bidder won) for almost 2 weeks and confused the heck out of people.
When this happens, just write back to anyone inquiring, apologizing for the duplication and assuring them that they are paid in full.

I had this problem also and twinklingstars4u helped me out!

If dealing with the seller does not work and it's been less than 30 days (hopefully) you can go through the PayPal Buyer Complaint Process.

Go to Paypal and click on help, this will take you to the Help Center. Scroll down the Top Questions to the question about Buyer Complaint process and go from there. Make sure you have the transaction number.

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for this info! I called(OMG I WAS NERVOUS) and left a few messages but still no response so I filed at Paypal.
My question now is what feedback do I leave(I really hate to get a neg in return!!!)

You have up to 90 days to leave feedback. I think a lot of people wait until day 90 to leave that neg in the hopes that the other person won't have time to neg them back!

If you do neg, I suggest being polite and simply stating the facts. I've seen some really nasty negs left by folks and heaven knows I wouldn't buy from them (in the case of the neg being left by the seller).

I left a neg recently for a NPB and it was simply: It's been 30 days since the auction closed - no communication, no payment.

Just my 2 cents!

Could someone explain checkfree??? Is it like another form of payment? Thanks:)

Checkfree is a free bill paying site. Unfortunately not every bill you need to pay may be participating with them....but quite a few do. Recently they began to offer a service like Paypal, where you can receive your auction payments through them. Go to the site, www.checkfree.com and check it out. I love using them, I get an email from them when they receive a bill that I need to pay. I just log on, click to pay, and they send my payment when it is due.

What do you do when you receive an item that is not in the condition it was described, but you really want it?

I bid on an outfit for my daughter that the seller stated to be in like new condition. She said it was only worn once. She also stated it came from a smoke free, pet free home. When I received the item, there was something small crusted on the front of the jacket, there were knots in the drawstring to the pants, and there were little grease spots (what looked like grease spots. The outfit is red, and there were just small circle spots on the pants). And, the outfit smelled so bad like smoke. There was also hair all over it. After I soaked the outfit all day, and washed it, it is now in the condition that I expected it to be in. I just feel VERY much that she misrepresented this outfit. It is in excellent condition, but I consider "like new" to mean that I could take it to the store and you couldn't tell much difference between what was on the rack and what I was holding in my hand. To top it off, she top me she shipped it on the 29th of August. She shipped it Priority Mail and it shipped out on the 5th. What would you do in an instance like this? I don't want to leave her negative feedback, but I'm not sure what to do. Am I being too picky?

Oh, and I just wanted to add that thanks to all of the motivation and encouragement from this board, I have sold $400 in the last two weeks. Plus, I have another $100 in current auctions from the same two weeks. So, thank-you very much for all you guys offer.

I'm learning a lot. I listed two name brand outfits as a lot, they sold for $2.99. I included socks and tights. Then I listed 9 pairs of socks that my DD wore last year. She is two. They were cute socks. I was hoping just to get the $1.99 that I opened the bid with. $2 is better than nothing. They sold for $15!!!! It's crazy.

What do you do when you receive an item that is not in the condition it was described, but you really want it?

I would send an email and explain to the seller, exactly as you did here, just what is bothering you about the outfit. It sounds like it was misrepresented if it came in the condition you have described. I agree completely with your description of how you view "like new".....and you are not being picky at all....you bid on an item that was described as "like new" and that is not what you received. Depending on the sellers response to you is how I would determine the feedback.....if she tried to be helpful, say refund an amount that would be appropriate for your time spent getting the item in usable condition, then I would leave a positive, but include the details (ex. did not arrive as listed, but seller gave parital refund). If you get no response or a negative response, you may have to leave a neutral/negative depending.

The SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW payers are at it again!! Reminders sent - emails sent - no responses...

This is the only part of eBaying that I "don't" like... :( I am SOOOO tempted to list only Paypal as a source of payment but I know I would probably be shooting myself in the foot and missing out on other buyers...

Thank goodness I don't normally have to use this money for bills and such or I would be in a heap of trouble! Could you see me telling some bill collector - "Oh sure! I'll get that payment out to you as soon as my non-paying bidder from eBay sends me the money for the item they purchased last month...."

I just wanted to let everyone know that is listing today and tomorrow that the Gallery is only $.01. Only for those two days!! I just listed 10 items, gotta go find some more!!

I can't get my pictures to show up. I'm trying to place them in the item description section using the HTML img tags, but when I get to the preview page all I see are little squares where the pictures should be. I tried with pics that I uploaded to Shutterfly as well as MSN and neither worked. (The gallery photo did show up, though)

Any thoughts or suggestions?

jcemom I wish I could help you but I'm so clueless to begin with. But I did have trouble with getting my pictures on my auctions yesterday. I normaly have a square box in the picture section. I just click on that & my file with all my photos pop up. But yesterday there were no square boxes, only long skinny ones, that said BROWSE next to it. I had such a hard time figuring it out. I clicked on live help and they told me to click on the little picnic basket on the right side of the screen. My square boxes appeared after I did that. I use ebay picture service. Maybe this could help you to.

I get my priority mailing labels with DC on line, like everybody else. Now on the ebay discussion board I read that you can get DC and labels on line for most of your other mail also. Does anyone know anything about this. And if so, can you tell me how to do it step by step, because I'm still illiterate,LOL. Maybe one day I'll learn to figure out things for myself without always coming to you guys for help. TIA.......

Oh, how are you guys mailing magazines. Do they go media mail or bound matter. I have some I want to list but I want to make sure I know how to send them first...

Are you printing them from the website or did you download Shipping Assitant? With Shipping Assistant you can get a quote on the cost, print the label, get DC, email the buyer the DC number, track the DC number..... Its a great tool to download.

Shipping Assistant

how are you guys mailing magazines. Do they go media mail or bound matter

If they have advertisements they need to go as bound printed matter.

Well.....after reading these posts for a few days now (no, I still haven't gotten through them all) I decided to jump in. Yesterday I put 12 things up for auction. One of them was an old set of foreign license plates that I have since found out are rare! LOL I did have one guy from Germany offer me $70. , but I declined and told him he's welcome to bid. :D
Most of my stuff has no bids on them, but I know to wait for those last minute bidders. At one point I got to a page about books so I actually went out to a place here in town to pick up books (cheap, like a quarter). I had a whole bunch of Golden books picked out when I spotted tons of Disney books. I managed to find the entire Walt Disney Beginner reading series, books 1-19, published in1989. I also picked up a bunch from the early '70s. I shlepped out of there feeling like I ripped them off only to come home and discover they don't seem to sell so hot! BUT....all those Golden books sure do! I can't win to save my life! LOL
I'm still going to list all the books (maybe go back for the Golden Books). I have a feeling I'll be the one person who can't sell anything!!!!!
I decided to start selling because we have a trip planned for February and I'd love to stay at the Poly. Keep your fingers crossed!!!
Also, I know it's hit or miss, but any selling ideas????
Oh yeah..I also turned my mom onto this link so if you are out there lurking...HI!!!!

Welcome!! :)

Okay - here's what I have learned so far..

If you're "sure" it will sell, it probably won't.. LOL

If you're "positive" it WON'T sell, it WILL !!!

If you see something and you think to yourself, "Who in their right mind would want THAT?" - it will go for 30 times what you think it's worth..

If you go to put something in the garbage - ANYTHING AT ALL - never let it leave your hands before researching it on eBay.. LOL

When items don't sell, ALWAYS relist them.. Could be the person that wants the item just wasn't on-line that week..

If an item still doesn't sell, see if you can "group" it with a "like" item.. That often does the trick..

Spend some time just browsing the categories to see what sells and what doesn't sell so you'll have a good idea of what to grab when you're out at garage sales and such..

List on a regular basis so you ALWAYS have auctions up and running.. I have found NO difference in listing weekly or daily.. If people want something they will buy it - regardless of the day of the week..

When ebay runs their "sales" - like the current 1-cent Gallery photo - take advantage of it.. Some say the market gets too saturated during those sales, but I have always done well during them...

Don't try to second-guess the buyers.. You CAN'T!! They are a breed of their own.. There's no way of knowing who wants what, who collects what, which item will go thru the roof, or which item will bomb at any given time because the patterns change quicker than the weather!

Most of all - don't get discouraged!! After you've been at it a few months you'll really start to get a "feel" for things and you will easily be able to determine what you can sell and what you can't..

Happy eBaying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

;)

I posted earlier about the outfit I received and wasn't happy with the quality. Dirty, smelly, etc. I emailed the lady, and I told her that I was disappointed, etc. This is her reply:

i am not going to go into great detail but my daughter was hit by a car and was in the hospital for 3 days with a broken femur. last week my brother took care of this for me and to get on ebay or email was the last of my concern. i'm sorry you are so unhappy. as far as your feedback goes write whatever you feel. i can't help that something this awful happened to me and my family. now i hope you can understand.

What do you think? This explains why it took so long to ship, but not the smell and stains.

I just downloaded the shipping asst. from the usps site. It seems so complicated and for businesses. Did I download the wrong thing. It asked me to register and then asked for my business name. Is this only for businesses or is there another shipping assistant for household(ebay ) use.

My mom was told she that "bound printed matter" was for business use only. That to send via this you had to be a business, fill out paper work etc... This doesn't sound right and I can not find any info on the usps site stating this.

Also depending on the # of mags you may find that useing the flat rate priority envelopes are the way to go.

That's a tough one.. I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt but gosh - I just don't know.. What kind of resolution are you looking for? Maybe you could send her back an email along the lines of "I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter.. Perhaps in a few days - when things have calmed down for you - we can try to reach some sort of solution that would be satisfactory to both of us?"

Other than that - I guess you just have to go with your gut feeling.. Have you checked her feedback to see how other transactions have gone?

Sorry I can't be of more help..:(
