You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

Hi Disney1178 - welcome and so glad you are here. I have to say the people at my P.O. are great. They are so helpful. In fact they are sometimes too helpful. I have seen them go to the back to get a box for people with hard to package items that they bring in to mail. They even help them package them up.

One of ladies compliments me on my shipping labels (I use Paypal or Click and Ship). They are really great, nice and helpful.

As a seller, I have a question - well, a series of questions.
1) If I put insurance on a package, does Delivery Confirmation offer any additional protection in any way? If the package doesn't get there, will insurance reimburse?
Unfortunately Delivery Confirmation doesnt offer any protection from the post office except proof that the package was delivered. If the package is never scanned delivered, the postmaster of the office you sent it from MAY refund you just the shipping cost. (We do that at my office!) If the package is insured, and never arrives, you as the sender will definitely get your money back.. There are two drawbacks though. One-you cant file an insurance claim until 15 days after it was sent... Secondly, it takes at least 30 days or more to process your insurance claim (You file the claim at your local post office, but then the claim is handled by the main accounting office in Minnesota and not at the local post office.)

2) Is delivery confirmation the only thing that protects against a paypal chargeback? Or does purchasing insurance also protect against that?
I am not really sure on this because this would be up to PayPal to decide. But I can tell you this... If you do insure a package but dont use delivery confirmation, you cannot track a package online with the insurance label #...BUT you CAN go to the post office and they CAN track the package on their computers for you with only the insurance label #! So at least you would have printed confirmation from the post office to show an insured package was delivered!

Hope this helps!!! And good luck!

I love to hear this :) thank you so much! This job really is a people-job.. You need to love to communicate with people and help them out as much as you can. (Unfortunately too many crabby people take this job also! LOL)

we also keep some used empty brown boxes in the back instead of throwing them out, incase a customer needs one. We really arent supposed to, but what the heck, happy customers always come back!

thanks again for the feedback!!

Thanks for the answers Disney1178. I have perfect feedback and have been an ebayer for a long time (400 plus feedback), BUT I've heard that folks that buy something I've been selling recently are known for chargebacks. I have never had that happen and I just want to make sure I don't get a chargeback. Thankfully I try to sweep out my paypal account any time it has any money it, so hopefully I won't have any problems....
Thanks again and welcome to the ebay your way to disney!

That doesn't stop you from having a chargeback. Chargebacks are something you agreed to in the mubbily muck you "signed" for when you signed up for Paypal. They will take a chargeback from the account you have linked to your Paypal, and if that account is empty, they will freeze your Paypal until you pay them what you owe them :(

I finally listed some items on ebay to sell!::yes::

Now I have some questions for all you sucessfull ebay sellers. Do you do all those "extras" that have fees to help sell your items? Such as listing in more than one section, or any of the other ways they say will increase your sale? And if you do, does it increase your sales?

Another question, when you were first selling, and you didn't have any feedback yet, was it hard to sell your first item?

Thanks a bunch!:wave2:

The only extra thing I do is the gallery and I only do that because, as a buyer, if a listing doesn't have a picture, I barely glance over it. I rarely use two categories, that really adds up! As far as feedback, I was a buyer first and had established positive feedback before trying to sell. It may start out slow but it will pick up as you get more and more sales. Now with this new MY EBAY, if you see lots of watchers and no bidders, it might give you a clue that it's cause of low feedback. Good Luck with your first auctions, it IS addicting, you will see soon enough!

I don't use many extras and the ones I do use, I don't do that often.. At Christmas time I did use the "Buy It Now" feature, but normally don't do that at any other time..

I think I listed in a second category ONCE and I only use the gallery feature occasionally for certain items..

I didn't really see any big difference in sales.. The only time I saw a BIG difference is when I started to accept credit cards via Paypal - best thing I ever did!!!

And lastly, I had no problems whatsoever with selling when I was starting off with zero feedback..

Welcome - and good luck!!!!!;)

****Forgot to add that when they offer extras for "free", I do use them - but I still don't think there's that big a difference in my sales or how high the bids go..

The only extra I use is gallery, and that's only if I think it's worth it. For instance, right now I'm selling a bunch of different china plates. Those need to be in gallery, because the competition is pretty stiff and there are lots of listings. No one has time to open all those auctions to see the photos inside. If it's not in the gallery people will just skip it. I usually also use gallery for children's clothes, for the same reason. But I don't usually use it for books, unless it's old and/or collectible. I also use my own web site for hosting my photos, so I can make them as big as I want, and add as many as I want. I don't often use Buy It now as I'm sometimes very surprised at how high my auctions go (higher than I would have listed a Buy It Now price). I do use Turbo Lister, but that doesn't cost extra unless you use the scheduling feature (to start your auctions at a time in the future from when you upload them).

I have it set up to pay my seller fees via direct deduction from my checking account. But I have not been charged this month??? Normally the money comes out on the 5th of the month, but it hasn't yet?? I did receive the invoice, but it hasn't been charged to my account yet.

I looked at my sellers page and it doesn't say the payment is overdue. What is going on??

Not to worry.. It takes FOREVER.. Often I receive my notice and it doesn't come out of my checking acct. for a good two weeks!

what method do you mail out your cloths that you sell?
And do you also wrap them with something? And where do you buy it?

I am still waiting for boxes I ordered from the usps web site. I hope that I get them in time. I just don't know what I should wrap up cloths in, that will add little weight, and where to get it cheap. Any advice would be great!

Whenever I mail out clothes I usually put them in a large ziploc bag - this way they stay clean and dry. I usually pick up the bags at a dollar store or Walmart.

But usually I get the invoice on the 15th of the month and then they take out they payment from my checking on the 5th of the following month. For example, this time I received the invoice on April 15th, but no withdraw from my account on the 5th.

I do this too, but sometimes things are too big, like jeans. In this case I put it in a walmart plastic bag, tie one end, and then put the tied end inside another walmart bag and then tie that end. It makes a nice little package.

Do you mean that you don't use any other wrapping for clothing, just a ziplock or plastic bag? It has never torn? Thanks!

Remember the conversation that was going on here awhile back about how long it took packages to arrive at their destination and why? And I had mentioned that the packages from my PO go east to Springfield before they go west?

Well I got an email a little while ago from a gal that purchased something from me who lives in Las Vegas, Nevada and she was wondering when to expect it..

Check this out on the USPS "track & confirm":

East to Springfield before going west to Nevada.. I really, really don't understand their routing systems..

Heck, a lot of the time, mine only shows my PO and their address, so you are lucky that they are even scanning your's on the way.I had one last week, that went to Phoenix, AZ, then to Syracuse, NY, down to NJ, and then out to it's home in CA. I think it got put on the wrong truck. My UPS stuff coming to me have lately been doing some visiting first too. It was right here in Lathem, then went to Rochester, then came to me : (
