"You Guys Are Cast Members... Right?" - A December 2011 TR

Yay! So close to your trip! I've never been to BLT, but I do try and read TRs from there. I'd love to stay there sometime, I really like how they decorated it. And the pathway to MK is such a great perk.

(Hooray! Only 4ish pages behind! Although it is sad that your trip is ending, but your next one is so soon.)

I love your tour of ASSp. That's probably what I'm most excited about moving to Florida - I really want to really explore the resort/hotel side of Disney. We keep meaning to do it but we always spend too much time in the parks! And I love the different colors available for the mugs, especially the green and orange.

I'm also really jealous of your zoom! That's the one downside of upgrading to the DSLR - no included super zoom. And zoom lenses too expensive for me right now.

The 3:00 MK parade looks adorable. Happy, energetic parades are my favorite. You should really seem Soundsational at Disneyland - it's the best! Such awesome costumes and music and everyone seems super happy to be in the parade.

YAY BAY LAKE TOWER!!!!! YAY FOR ONE MONTH!!!!!

I just started your trip report 3 days ago and i am finally caught up. Great job! Anxiously awaiting the next update!

YAY!!!!

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you've enjoyed it! Update coming up... RIGHT NOW! :woohoo:

I know! I can't even believe it. I've never really read any BLT TRs. Wahhh. I'd love to though! Yes, I agree! I love the way the rooms look compared to a lot of the other villas. They're so much more modern and I really like that!

Thank you! I'm glad. Oh man, you're so lucky! I really would love to do that as well. I'm with you on that, I spend so much time at the parks that the only resorts I've really explored are the ones that I've stayed at!

Hahah, don't be jealous! One day you'll be rich and will be able to afford the zoom lens and then your zoomed pictures will trump mine.

Oh, it REALLY is. I just loved it! Honestly though, you have no idea just how much I would LOVE to see the Soundsational Parade. Oh my gosh. I LOVE IT. I have the soundtrack and I listen to it a lot when I work out (you know you're a Disney dork when... :rotfl:) So jealous that you've seen it!!!

The One With Main Street and A Mickey Bar

December 17, 2011

Before I did anything on Main Street, there was another thing I wanted to do: go back OUT of the park and take pictures of the train station from the outside! I didn’t have any pictures of it with the (no longer) new ‘Let the Memories Begin’ banner, and it was a beautiful day, so I did just that!

SDC12429.jpg

SDC12428.jpg

SDC12430.jpg

Excessive, no? I wanted to get a straight shot, but there was a family taking pictures in front of it, so I didn’t want to be rude and get in their way.

I just LOVE those Christmas decorations. I also really love how the flowers change throughout the year. Disney is always keeping it ‘fresh.’

Get it? FRESH? FLOWERS? I know, I know. Comedian of the year.

Ahem. Anyways… after that, I really DID go down Main Street!

SDC12418.jpg

Oh wait. I stopped in the Emporium. What a shopping FIEND I am.

The Emporium was ridiculously crowded. I immediately realized that it was a Saturday, AND it was one week before Christmas Eve. The Christmas crowds were officially IN. Oh boy. :faint:

Guess what the first display I stopped at was? Yes, the PIN display. Uh oh. I created a monster, yall.

I contemplated buying a really cute lanyard (it was black with colorful Mickey heads) and the ‘Ellie badge’ grape soda pin, but I was actually able to practice self-control. I walked out of the Emporium empty handed. WINNER!
SDC12460.jpg

As soon as I walked out of the store, my ears were treated to the harmonious sounds of the Dapper Dans! YAY!

SDC12643.jpg

I had missed a lot of their set, but I was able to hear them sing ‘Frosty the Snowman’, ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’, and ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas.’

They also told JOKES. The one I remember (because I caught it on video) was a gem.

Dapper Dan: “What does one snowman say to another snowman?”

Audience: “WHAT?!”

Dapper Dan: “Do you smell carrots?”

:lmao: I LOVE CORNY JOKES. I laugh at them so much. I really am a dork. IT’S COOL.

Like I said, I was trying to get some video of the Dapper Dans singing, but my camera decided it was going to play tricks on me again, and it did the same thing it had done to me on Living with the Land AND at 50’s Prime Time. It just stopped recording on me! Gosh, my camera, it’s such a weirdo. So basically I intended to record them singing, but all I got was them telling a joke. At least it was a funny one (to me)!

SDC12461.jpg

(If only you could see their faces...)

I was really enjoying being on Main Street. I just cannot get enough of the atmosphere at Magic Kingdom. It really is magical, as corny as that may sound.

SDC12465.jpg

This was the first time I noticed that window. I would love to work for Disney in SOME way, so I was excited to see this (even though I obviously know it’s not the real thing)! I just love that Walt quote!

Since I hadn’t finished my greasy lunch, I was feeling a little hungry. It was time for a snack! As soon as I walked by the bakery, I was just HIT with that wonderful smell and basically followed it inside like a kid following the Pied Piper.

SDC12468.jpg

I looked at the display case, and even though I’m a fan of many a baked good, there was nothing that was really striking my fancy at the time. When I walked out of the bakery I immediately knew what I wanted!

SDC12469.jpg

SDC12470.jpg

SDC12471.jpg

SDC12472.jpg

I found a place that was selling my desired treat and bought one right away, so I went in search of a place to sit and enjoy it!

Screenshot2012-01-29at72438PM.png

I found a seat on the bridge to Tomorrowland! Another thing I love about the Magic Kingdom: there are so many overlooked places to sit down and enjoy yourself for a little while. I know that normally when I walk on that bridge to Tomorrowland, I’m not even paying attention to anything but getting to an attraction as quickly as possible! I was happy to finally notice this little corner of the ‘world’. It had a great view of the castle and Tomorrowland, and there were only a few other people there.

SDC12474.jpg

SDC12475.jpg

SDC12476.jpg

SDC12478.jpg

(I know that doesn’t actually LOOK like a perfect view, but I thought it was still a cool picture. Plus, I can see through the tree better than my camera can.)

IT WAS TIME TO EAT THIS:

SDC12473.jpg

YES!!! Oh my gosh yall, Mickey bars are perfect. I don’t even normally like dark chocolate, but I love these Mickey bars. I know it’s a very simple concept, but there is still something so delicious and awesome about eating ice cream shaped like Mickey Mouse. I would have gone absolutely nuts over those things when I was younger (and I probably still do).

Much to my surprise and delight, Dream Along with Mickey started while I was eating my Mickey bar, and I had a perfect view of it! I didn’t even have to stand in a crowd of people. It was awesome.

SDC12477.jpg

Pretty princesses and their guys! Uh... is it just me or is nobody in that picture actually watching the show? HAH! How odd.

SDC12479.jpg

I’m having flashbacks to an update I did a few months back… “Did someone say adventure?”

SDC12480.jpg

“FIND THE DREAM INSIDE OF YOU!”

I loved catching the show again! It’s so cute and I love how happy the performers seem. I would love that job.

After the show was over and I was finished with the glorious Mickey bar, I decided that maybe it was time to do an attraction or five.

OFF TO NEVERLAND! I mean, OFF TO TOMORROWLAND!

What a nice day you were having! :goodvibes You really have lots of nice pictures! :thumbsup2

Yum....Mickey ice cream....I could go for one of those right now! :cloud9:

Can't wait to hear what all you rode & saw! And if you ever caught up with your friends. :confused3

I can't wait to hear all about Bay Lake Tower! I'm sure you'll love it. I've never stayed at the Contemporary, but I've heard good things about the cupcakes at Contempo Cafe. :thumbsup2

I love your train station/Main Street pictures! I can't wait to be back there, strolling down Main Street, listening to the area loop, smelling the deliciousness wafting over from the bakery...SIGH...

I haven't had a Mickey bar in years. I think it might be time to remedy that. ::yes::

Mmmm...a Mickey ice cream....I could go for one right now. Thanks for your update, I'm glad you felt better the last day.

The entrance always looks so pretty, but even more so for the holidays.

haha, I had to go watch the video I took of the castle show after seeing those pictures. Love that song at the end. :goodvibes

The Mickey bar looks yummy! I haven't had one of those in a long time-I usually go for the ice cream sandwich version!

A Mickey Bar in the Magic Kingdom really does sound divine right about now! :cloud9: I like your "through the trees" castle shot!

Yay update!!!!! I agree...I would love to be in Magic Kingdom with a Mickey bar. On my last trip, I ended up doing a solo day and I LOVED it!!!! I went to three different parks and didn't ride any rides. (I know, I know, I was shocked myself) Instead, I just walked around the parks and enjoyed all the themes and watched everyone else enjoying themselves.

It sounds like you have really enjoyed this day so far, can't wait for the next update?!? (is it done yet? is it done yet?)

Okay, I tried to post this yesterday, but my internet wasn't cooperating.

BLT is great, that's so exciting that you're staying there. We stayed there last July and it was great. The rooms are super modern and I like how new they are (at least when we stayed there they felt super new). My niece and nephew absolutely loved the pool and the slide. And I love the food at Contempo Cafe. But especially the cupcakes. They are epic. :goodvibes

They are Dulce de Leche, Strawberry, and Black Forest.

And here are some other pics for you. ;)

I think it's really funny that you specifically mentioned the black mickey lanyard and the grape soda pin because I bought both of those. Clearly I don't have very good self control. :rotfl:

I always love taking pictures of the MK entrance, every time I go in that park, I have to stop and take a million pictures! :cool1:

I love Main Street! I feel like I don't spend enough time there, probably because our MK days are so rushed...I'm definitely planning to spend an entire day in MK in November, I hate going there and then leaving in a few hours, not knowing when I will be back!

That Mickey bar looks SO good! :mickeybar (Do you want to know a secret? I've never had a Mickey bar :sad2:)

I know, I'm ashamed. I will finally have one in November, it's one of my goals for that trip! :rotfl:

I'm very proud of your self restraint, I don't think I can walk by a pin display without buying something (maybe that's why I have so many :rotfl:)

Oooh, I love the dapper dans, and for the record I thought the joke was funny too! I love corny humor!

Have you thought about trying for the Disney college program? You mentioned wanted to work for Disney, and it just seems like a natural fit for you! I remember wanting to do it, but I ended up deciding on a semester abroad instead. I do really think the college program would be fun though!

Yummy mickey bar and great spot to watch the show! I've never seen the show in its entirety, and that's one of the things I want to do in Oct. Everett loves listening to the soundtrack, so I (and he) pretty much have the whole thing memorized. The other day he was chanting "DREAMS COME TRUE" at the top of his lungs in the grocery store. It was pretty hilarious/embarrassing at the same time. :lmao:

Awe your WDW Christmas pictures want me to go at Christmas time soooooooo bad!

I finally got some down time to write!!! yayyy! :)

First of all, between you and Jess posting about Christmas at Disney, I have been dying to go! I haven't been there during christmas in at least 10 years so now I have to start planning to go!

Did you enjoy walking around by yourself? Last April I went on a little solo trip and it was fabulous. It was so nice to be able to take in all the magic of main street! Everyone I have ever gone with just doesn't get that part about Disney :confused3 So being able to take it in by myself was very magical and something I will never forget :)

I can't wait to see how this trip wraps up and to hear all the exciting updates about your trip coming up soon. BLT/CR is like my dream place to stay so I am very very very excited to hear all about it!!!

It was lovely! Oh thank you! I was feeling like I hadn't taken enough pictures yet (which is TRUE) so I just started pointing and shooting hahaha.

OH ME TOO. They're wonderful!

Thanks! HAHAHA, don't worry, you will find out what was keeping them in the next update. :thumbsup2

I think we will too. Oh yes, the cupcakes look wonderful!

Thank you! Oh my gosh, doesn't that just sound perfect right now (and all the time)? I'm so excited for you!

For the love of God woman, yes, you must get one next month! It's necessary! :rotfl:

Mmmm...a Mickey ice cream....I could go for one right now. Thanks for your update, I'm glad you felt better the last day.

Me too! You're so welcome. Thank you for reading it! And thank you, I'm so glad I did too!

The entrance always looks so pretty, but even more so for the holidays.

The Mickey bar looks yummy! I haven't had one of those in a long time-I usually go for the ice cream sandwich version!

I totally agree! Believe it or not, I actually can't picture what it looks like when it isn't Christmas time. It's been so long since I've seen it in its 'normal' state!

I understand hahah. I love the song at the end too. It's so cute!

It was delicious! OH, ya know what? I've never had the ice cream sandwich version! I don't usually like ice cream sandwiches that much because they drip all over the place and the sandwich part always sticks to my fingers. Hahaha I'm a mess. But I bet the Mickey version would be lovely!

A Mickey Bar in the Magic Kingdom really does sound divine right about now. I like your "through the trees" castle shot!

It really, really does! Sigh, if only. Thank you! I thought it was kinda cool myself hahaha.

Yay update!!!!! I agree...I would love to be in Magic Kingdom with a Mickey bar. On my last trip, I ended up doing a solo day and I LOVED it!!!! Yay!! Thank you for being so excited! ME TOO. That sounds awesome! It's nice to have an easy-going day once in a while. I'm glad you had such a great time!

I really did! Hahah you're so sweet! I'm sorry, it isn't done yet! :( I usually write the updates right before I post them hahah. But thank you for being so eager, it really makes my day!

OH MY GOSH DANIELLE. Thank you SO much! First of all, wow. Those cupcakes look wonderful. I have a feeling when my mom discovers the black forest, she will go nuts.

Thanks for the room pictures as well! Oh my gosh you just made me ridiculously excited! My brother is really excited about the pool slide. (Okay, and so am I. Haha!) Thank you so much for sharing! Did I say that already? Hahah but really, I appreciate it so much!

I think it's really funny that you specifically mentioned the black mickey lanyard and the grape soda pin because I bought both of those. Clearly I don't have very good self control.

Oh girl, don't even feel bad. I wished I had gotten them! I was running out of souvenir money though! And yeah, I'm totally getting both of things things when I go back. So basically... nobody needs self control in Disney!

I know, I'm ashamed. I will finally have one in November, it's one of my goals for that trip!

I totally get it! It's so beautiful and welcoming and PERFECT.

Oh, I get that as well! Normally I'm drawn toward the castle like a magnet and I just zero in on it and GO. That was the first time I actually took my time going down Main Street and it was SO nice to take it all in. It made me fall even more in love with the place! Basically I would strongly suggest doing that at least once!

JEN. WHAT??? Oh my gosh!! Hahaahah, you absolutely MUST get yourself a Mickey bar like as SOON as you get to Disney in November. On my first trip ever, the first thing me and my sister did was go to the food court at All Star Music and get a Mickey bar. I WAS SO EXCITED and the fact that it was delicious made it that much better! SO BASICALLY, GET ONE!!!

I'm very proud of your self restraint, I don't think I can walk by a pin display without buying something (maybe that's why I have so many :rotfl:)

Hahah thank you! Although I admit, I'm 100% planning on buying both of those things on my next trip. Self control=out the window.

Hahah I'm glad you found the joke funny as well. I think you were actually the first one! :rotfl:

I have thought about it! I would love to do it! I really think it would be awesome. Plus, my friend Jenelle (from this TR) ended up staying and working at Disney after she did her college program. It definitely would be worth checking out. Thank you! :goodvibes

Oh I bet he would love the whole show! Hahahah! That is just plain hilarious! I can see where the embarrassment would come in, but I bet people thought it was cute! I'm sure I would have!

Awe your WDW Christmas pictures want me to go at Christmas time soooooooo bad!

I totally get what you mean! I really hope I get to go again at Christmas... and I hope you get to someday as well!

I finally got some down time to write!!! yayyy! :)

YAY! :) I'm so glad!

Oh my goodness, you must! I have a feeling a lot of things may have changed since then, in a good way! I hope you get to go!

I did enjoy it! I didn't feel bad about stopping to take pictures and do this and that and the other without slowing anybody down. I like to go go go at Disney, but I really liked doing this as well. I really did miss my friends though! So yeah, it was fun but it was also a little lonely at the same time.

Your solo trip sounds like it was wonderful! I have a feeling there's a different feeling in going on a solo trip and doing the whole thing by yourself, and being by yourself because you have to be while knowing that your friends are somewhere out in the 'world.' Ya know what I mean? I think it would be less lonely that way. Your trip sounds like it was awesome!

I'm really excited about the next trip too! I can't believe it's so soon... 54 days! Aww, that's awesome! I'll give you as much detail as I possibly can! I hope you can stay there someday!

I love Mickey Bars!!! SOOOOO YUMMY! Oh, the smell of the Bakery is actually the smell of heaven I'm pretty sure! :lmao: I love your pictures!! They're making me so excited to go!!! :yay:

I went in December in 2007. Biggest mistake as I want to go again during that time of year and it never works out.

I love Mickey Bars!!! SOOOOO YUMMY! Oh, the smell of the Bakery is actually the smell of heaven I'm pretty sure! :lmao: I love your pictures!! They're making me so excited to go!!! :yay:

Aren't they delicious? Don't you just want one RIGHT NOW? Hahaha. (Me too.)

Thank you! Aww, I bet you're SO excited! 15 days girl!! :woohoo:

I went in December in 2007. Biggest mistake as I want to go again during that time of year and it never works out.

Yeah, I understand. Christmas is a busy time! I really do hope you'll be able to go back again one year though!

Yay! I love hanging out on Main Street. I could seriously stay there all day and just people-watch. And Dapper Dan-watch. Although I guess that would fall under the category of people-watching too, right? I have to assume that the Dapper Dans are in fact humans, and not aliens from another planet.

Speaking of Dapper Dans...I LOVE THEM. Seriously, I want to grow up to be a cute old man who can carry a tune just so I can be a Dapper Dan. Maybe I can do that without the gender reassignment surgery mess, and I'll just be Dapper Danielle. Hmm...

Okay, I apologize for this comment. I had a lot of chocolate today. It makes me say things.

WOW. I am so impressed with your self control! You walked out of a gift shop and the bakery empty handed...I applaud you. I seriously could never do that. I go into a gift shop, and three hours later I wake up in my hotel room surrounded by $1,000 worth of merchandise and I can't remember how I got there. Not really, but I do spend a lot of money.

I'm going to stop now, because I am creeping myself out. One last thing, though...YAY MICKEY BAR. I just went straight 90s and said "GET IN MAH BELLY!"

Now I'm really done.
