"You Guys Are Cast Members... Right?" - A December 2011 TR

From what I remember from the "Canadian Santa"... they called him "papa Noël" I think. Well they mix all sorts of tradition from around Canadian and from different times. Which is weird since no one would believe in all those things at once.... oh well. I've come to be accustomed to people seeing Canadians in such weird ways lol

Your meal at the Primetime cafe looks really good. I may try it one day.

I know about pins. I started collecting them a few years ago and it's now an obsession.

I went to MVMCP once and it was the best trip ever. I'm dreaming of going back.

I'm sorry you got sick. I hate not having control over my body.

Oh you poor thing!!!! :worried: I'm so sorry you were so sick!!!! When I was probably 10 years old, I had the flu in Disney...it was NOT pretty!! I know exactly how you feel! I would have cried too! I'm glad you enjoyed the party, though! That makes it better!

:rotfl2: I love your videos! They are too funny! I'm glad your sickness is GONE! :cool1:

Yeah, I didn't see the beginning (or most of the show, actually) so I didn't really know what they called him. Hahaha I don't think Canadians are weird, I promise! Thanks for letting me know. :)

Your meal at the Primetime cafe looks really good. I may try it one day.

It was delicious! I would definitely recommend it!

I know about pins. I started collecting them a few years ago and it's now an obsession.

Hahah really? I can see why! I actually have a list of pins that I want now. It's so bad!

I went to MVMCP once and it was the best trip ever. I'm dreaming of going back.

I'm sorry you got sick. I hate not having control over my body.

It really is a lot of fun! I'm glad you loved it so much!

Thanks! Yeah, it's pretty scary!

Thank you! OH NO, did you really??? That's so sad! :sad2: Yeah, I tried to, at least!

THANKS! Hahah I always laugh at the crazy stuff I'm saying during the Celebrate the Season show... goodness gracious, I'm a dork! :rotfl: ME TOO!!!!

The One With the Road to Recovery

Day 4: Saturday, December 17, 2011

I woke up on our last full day to the sound of the door shutting. I looked around and everyone was gone (I woke up literally right after they left). I guess in the midst of not feeling well, I’d forgotten to set an alarm. ROOKIE MISTAKE. It was about 8:45, which meant I had missed the Extra Magic Hours at DHS. I guess everyone else had too. It started to hit me that it was my last day and I was BUMMED. But at the same time, I knew that I needed to redeem myself and have a great day! I’d be angry with myself if I didn’t. I wanted to take it easy though. There was NO way I was going to do something stupid and make myself sick again!

I got up to do regular morning things, and I found a note on the sink from the group, telling me that they had gone to Hollywood Studios anyway, and then they were going to Epcot, and if I was feeling better and wanted to join them to just give them a call and find out where they were at the moment. They hadn’t wanted to wake me up. :goodvibes I was grateful, because I knew I NEEDED the sleep. Especially since I have no idea what time I even fell asleep, and I didn’t want to be groggy on my last day.

In order to take it easy, I decided to wait until I absolutely knew I was 100% better. I turned on the TV and watched Stacey for a while. WHAT A GREAT CURE (but really). She reminded me of all the fun I had already had, and all the fun that was still left to be had! HOORAY FOR STACEY!

After a few loops of Must Do Disney, I started to get ready and get myself cleaned up. (That’s a BIG must do after being sick for a long time, hahaha!) After I was completely ready, I decided that I might as well go ahead and pack up my stuff. I knew I would be too bummed to do it that night, and too tired to do it the next morning. I headed out soon after that. I wanted to eat, but I wanted to wait until I was HUNGRY. That way, I would know that I was feeling better!

I decided to take a little walking tour of All Star Sports! So far, all I’d seen was everything from the entrance to our building, but nothing in between. It’s quite amazing how similar all the All Star Resorts are in their setups.

allstar02l-1.jpg

This is the building we stayed in, Building 3! To be honest, I have no idea why it’s number 3. It’s so far back! :confused3: It’s in the Hoops Hotel section. Cute, and fitting because I played basketball (for like a year).

SEE THAT? Apparently it’s called Mount Mickey. I wanted to get a picture of myself with that so badly! It says All Star Resorts, and I thought it was fitting because I have officially stayed at all three now! (I know I’ve mentioned that before, but yeah.) Oh well, nobody was around to take my picture so this will have to do!

Screenshot2012-01-29at91328PM.png

The baseball section, Homerun Hotel! (If you keep going, you’ll eventually hit All Star Music!)

Going back towards the front is the tennis section, Center Court.

tennis.jpg

Cute, right?

tennis2.jpg

My FAVORITE section is the one that I’m skipping for now… but it will come up a little later. I know, you couldn’t be more thrilled.

Towards the front of the resort is Touchdown! If you couldn’t tell, it’s the football section.

SDC12411.jpg

SDC12410.jpg

I love the big Coke cup! It reminds me of my first trip (when my family stayed in All Star Music) because we would always see it on our way in and out of the resort, and we’d always joke about how much Coke those cups could hold.

After my tour, I realized something: I was FINALLY hungry! Hooray! Honestly, at that point it had been close to 24 hours since I last ate. I was officially better!!!!

So I headed into the End Zone Food Court…

SDC12414.jpg

…and I got FOOD.

SDC12407.jpg

I also got another one of these, since I clearly didn’t have any already. (Just kidding, I already had three.)

SDC12408.jpg

Unfortunately, the pizza was EXTREMELY greasy. I tried to sop some of it up with napkins, but it was actually so saturated that the crust became soggy. Ew! My pizza from Pizza Planet had been a lot better.

When I was finished with my pool of grease and cheese, I decided it was time for an experiment. I was going to test out the drink system at All Star Sports.

For those of you who don’t know (or don’t care enough to know), last year, All Star Sports was randomly chosen out of all the resorts to test a new drink machine system. The refillable mugs purchased there had RFID chips in them that would keep track of when you bought them and how long ago you used them. (That’s why they were different colors than the mugs at all the other resorts.) When I filled up my mug, it told me I could use it until December 28, two weeks after I purchased it. Basically, if I went in there this summer with my mug and tried to fill it up, it wouldn’t work. It’s weird, and a little creepy. I have no idea if they’re still testing it, but I do know that the new food court at Art of Animation doesn’t use this system, so I guess they decided against doing it for all the resort food courts. I honestly have no idea though!

It was SUCH a nice day, so I decided to let my greasy pizza digest with some Coke and enjoy the day. I filled my mug up 3 times, and I had no problems with it. So, in case you were wondering, it doesn’t limit how many times you can use it, at least from what I experienced.

SDC12409.jpg

THE MUG.

ANYWAYS, boring stuff aside, I enjoyed a little quiet time near the main pool! It was a perfect day. I had a really hard time remembering it was December!

SDC12413.jpg

I know, you can’t even see the pool. But I promise, it’s there!

In case you were wondering, THIS is my favorite section: Surf’s Up! I think it’s adorable and a lot less ‘sport-y’ than the rest of the resort. I was hoping we’d be put in this section, but I guess that’s where most of the preferred rooms are. It doesn’t really matter anyway.

Screenshot2012-01-29at91513PM.png

How cute is that?

After I’d had my fill of relaxing and I felt that my pizza had been fully digested, I decided to check out the gift shop, Sport Goofy’s!

Along the way:

SDC12415.jpg

You won’t find a wreath like that anywhere else in the world, I’m positive.

SDC12416.jpg

STAR.

Screenshot2012-01-29at92621PM.png

Hahaha, I love that. (I was in a picture-taking mood, is it obvious?)

SDC12417.jpg

I shopped around for a little while and picked up some cute things! I will explain them and show pictures of them in a later post because I’m running out of room right here! I didn’t want to go all the way back to the room to drop off the stuff, so I asked the CM who checked me out to hold the stuff for me. I filled out a slip so I could pick it up the next morning on the way out.

After I had done that, I decided to head out to the bus stop! I’d been trying to reach SOMEONE from my group all morning, but we were having communication issues. I looked at my phone and was SHOCKED to see that it was 2:27 pm. Um, I’m sorry, WHAT? Not okay!

Our plan for that night was to go to Magic Kingdom, so I decided then and there that I would go on ahead. I figured that they’d be along sooner than later, and we could meet up and spend the rest of the day together! Hooray! (Keep this in mind.) As soon as I saw what time it was, I immediately decided that my goal was to see the parade at 3:00. I had never seen it, and at that point, I had heard that they might be changing it (which I guess was clearly not true!) so I didn’t want to miss it!

There is basically NO ONE waiting for busses at 2:30 in the afternoon. I was the only one waiting for any bus. It was weird!

Screenshot2012-01-29at92100PM.png

I waited for what felt like 100 years for a bus to come, and I was beginning to get a little antsy. I didn’t want to miss the parade!!!! I watched a bunch of busses come and go for Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney, and basically every other place that isn’t the Magic Kingdom. FINALLY, a Magic Kingdom bus pulled up and I tried to get on. The bus driver looked at me and held out her arm. It may have been my imagination, but I’m pretty sure she also said “HALT.”

Oh, sorry. I guess the two people on the bus would have been in danger if I’d gotten on the bus before they’d gotten off. I don’t know what I was thinking. Anyways, I got on the bus and I was EXCITED. It felt like it had been forever since I’d really been at Disney. I don’t know why. I know I’d been at Disney the entire time, but it’s really a different place when you’re sick.

I swear, this bus driver was the most law-abiding citizen ever. I think she was going at least 5 MPH below the speed limit at any given time, and she’d just EASE on the brakes for a million years before she finally came to a complete stop. I was going crazy. I just wanted MK! LET'S GO!!!!

The One With Some Good Old Fashioned CELEBRATIN’

December 17, 2011

After about 30 years on the bus, we finally arrived at the Magic Kingdom! I was really cutting it close! The best part is that the bus stop for All Star Sports had been moved over night, and it was now FURTHER away from the entrance. Always good news when you’re trying to make it to see a parade!

I booked it to the entrance, passed through the seven levels of the candy cane forst, through the sea of swirly twirly gum drops, through bag check, and into the park to find…

…the parade hadn’t started yet!!!! I made it!

I got a surprisingly awesome spot, too! I guess it’s a lot easier when you’re a party of one. (I was having a me party, a party by myself.)

The parade started almost immediately! I had made it just in time! (I apologize for the quality and random size of some of these pictures. I took a lot of them from the videos I took. I'll try not to do that anymore in the future!)

SDC12419.jpg

That PLUTO. He just loves some good old fashioned PRAISE.

SDC12617.jpg

SDC12618.jpg

I love that random little hodge podge of Disney characters wearing festive ties and such.

SDC12616.jpg

THE MICE.

SDC12621.jpg

I guess I was a little late to catch the front of Pinocchio…

SDC12620.jpg

SDC12619.jpg

Jafar stared me DOWN. It was quite funny.

SDC12622.jpg

SDC12623.jpg

PRINCE ALI! That’s always been one of my favorite Disney songs. It’s just so exciting!

SDC12625.jpg

And the hodge podge continues! I just LOVE Dumbo. He’s the cutest.

SDC12626.jpg

Bert and Mary look like they are about to be smushed by a very large Genie, yet they couldn't be happier. Always in good spirits, those two.

SDC12627.jpg

SDC12629.jpg

I love that this parade is just HAPPY. The only villains in the whole parade (besides Jafar, I guess) are these guys. They’re about as un-villainous as a villain can get.

SDC12630.jpg

SDC12632.jpg

Is it just me, or does Alice look like she’s striking a pose? I think they call that ‘vogue-ing’ hahaha.

SDC12633.jpg

“All it takes is faith and trust!”

And dust, Peter. (He always forgets the dust.)

SDC12634.jpg

Anastasia was HILARIOUS. She was basically a perfect representation of the goofy awkwardness of the step-sisters. The guy next to me thought so too. I heard him tell his wife that “she was great.”

SDC12636.jpg

The head honcho of the fairy world.

SDC12637.jpg

They get their own mode of transportation: the pumpkin. What else?

SDC12638.jpg

SDC12640.jpg

I love the prince and princess float. I heard that Rapunzel and Eugene are being added this summer!!!!!!!! I hope it’s actually true!

SDC12641.jpg

MY FAVORITES!!!! Although, no offense to Ariel, but her face is too skinny! OH WELL I STILL LOVE HER. (And Eric. Oh Eric.)

SDC12642.jpg

I love Tiana and Naveen! I wish I could have met them on this trip!

And with that, the parade was over. I was so glad I’d gotten to see it. I LOVED it! I just love how happy and positive it is. Not everything has to have a villain come and ruin things for a while, you know? I would definitely see this parade again!

I decided to go find a place to sit for a little while, and try to contact my group to see when they’d be coming. I couldn’t reach anyone yet, but I was glad I sat where I did. There was a guy walking past talking on his phone, and I heard him say the best ‘overheard at Magic Kingdom’ EVER.

“I was just standing outside and this parade went by! It had the lion from Beauty and the Beast and that... what do you call that chickmunk?”

OH MY DEAR LORD. That is the FUNNIEST thing I’ve ever heard. First of all, I was unaware that the beast was a LION. You learn something new every day! I really wish I knew which chickmunk he was talking about… I wonder if chickmunks are anything like chipmunks? HAHAHA! Bless his heart, he was clearly a Disney newbie.

After I recovered from my laughing fit, I saw that the line to meet Minnie and Mickey at the Town Square Theater was only 10 minutes long. But for whatever reason, I DIDN’T GET IN LINE. I know, right? What was I thinking? Not to be gross, but apparently I threw up some brain cells… that’s the only explanation. I mean, who doesn’t meet Minnie and Mickey? I still don’t know what the HECK I was thinking… I had on the perfect outfit for it too. Anyways…

After THAT, I decided that I’d make my way down Main Street to see what the Magic Kingdom had to offer me on this beautiful December day!

Thank you! Hahah aw, thanks! Yeah, it wasn't great. :rotfl:

I really did! Thank God! The parade was awesome, I was so glad to finally see it. Thanks so much!! You're too kind. :goodvibes

Boo to it being your last day. Yay that you were feeling better. The day looked beautiful.

I never get tired of that parade.

I love listening and people watching. You see and overhear the most random things lol

Yay for Stacey and for feeling better!

OK, I'm glad you said the pictures were from the videos because I may have tried to click on one of them thinking it was a video. :rolleyes1 I have a secret (or really just more of a hidden detail) from the Pinocchio float that we learned on the Keys to the Kingdom tour! Not going to share it now though...you'll have to wait until I get to that in my TR. ;)

Oh my god, I didn't know the beast was a lion either! LOL. It's too funny listening to what some people say sometimes. There's this whole thread on here of funny thing you hear people say. That one reminds me of one I saw where somebody saw Jiminy Cricket and called him a cockroach. :confused3:lmao:

You should try to meet Tiana and Naveen on your next trip. That was seriously one of the best meet and greets we ever had. They were awesome!

Yay! I'm glad you felt better when you woke up, and I'm glad your thoughtful friends let you rest. (Sidenote- Why can't I find the hug smiley?! Where did it go?? I was going to smiley hug you, but I will settle for this guy- :goodvibes) Alright, let's make the most of this last day! HERE WE GO!

I love your pictures of All Star Sports! I've stayed at ASMo, but neither of the other two, so it was cool to see it!

Would you care for some pizza to go with your grease? Ugh, I hate food like that!

HAHA bus driver lady. I imagine her, in a very deep giant-esque voice, saying, "HALT. WHO GOES THERE?"

Elf reference! Thank for that. Smiling's my favorite. :santa:

Okay now the me party song is stuck in my head!

HAHA Ariel looks super excited in that picture...like REALLY excited. :lmao:

Chickmunks? Lion? Seriously, dude? I understand not being very familiar with Disney, but has he spent his entire life calling them "chickmunks"? Because if he has, I'm going to take a wild guess and say he was kind of picked on for that one. Also, it's called "Beauty and the BEAST," not "Beauty and the LION." Sheesh, fella. Get it together!

I'm so glad that you were feeling better!

Thanks for the walking tour of Sports, I've haven't seen too many pictures of that resort, and it looks a lot cuter than I thought. I did not find the drink station info boring at all! In fact, I told my DH all about it before I finished reading the update!

I'm glad that you made it in time for the parade. I love that parade too, and I'm not a parade person at all.

That's some lion with Belle! And the chickmunks? Who knew there were chickmunks at Disney??:rotfl:

Yay! I'm so happy you're feeling better!! :cool1: Ew on the greasy pizza, though!! Good thing it didn't make your stomach upset again!

What a nice day! It looks beautiful from your pictures! I just love Disney!

:rotfl2: I actually died when you described the bus driver! "HALT" :rotfl2: I've totally had drivers like that! And the ones that drive Soooooo slowly when you're in a rush!

I'm glad you made it there on time! I can't wait to see that parade.... IN 25 DAYS ;) It really is a feel-good parade! Just perfect! :goodvibes

OMG soooo funny!!!!!! :rotfl2: I love that conversation!!! :rotfl2: Lion and chickmunks! I probably would have been dying of laughter right there! Especially if I was with my mom!!

Well, I'm excited to hear about the rest of your day, but I'm also incredibly sad that it's your last full day!!! :sad1: Where has the time gone??? Oh well, it's not over yet!!!! :goodvibes

I'm so glad you got to feeling better so that you could enjoy your last day! :goodvibes

And you made it for the parade! :yay: I love the Elf reference when talking about getting into the park. That's one of my favorite movies.

You got some great shots of the parade! :thumbsup2

I'm glad you woke up well! I bet it was sometimes you ate. Rest is the best thing, so it was good you slept.

A nice walking tour of your resort is a great idea to see how your body is doing, if anything popped up, you would have been close.

I so love the parade, and just making it was a bonus!

I love listening to people talk at Disney, a lot of them have no clue and it can be funny!

Boo to it being your last day. Yay that you were feeling better. The day looked beautiful.

I know, I can't believe I'm actually kinda almost done with this thing! Sad! But I'm excited to go on my next trip and have a whole new one that could last for who knows how long? :rotfl: It was the perfect day. I was so happy!

I never get tired of that parade.

I love listening and people watching. You see and overhear the most random things lol

It's a great one!

I know! So funny. I wish I could have heard what the person on the other end of the phone said!

Yay for Stacey and for feeling better!

HAHA really? Oops! Sorry about that hahaha. Yeah, the video will come a little later haha! OH can't wait to hear about it!

Is there really a thread like that on here??? I want to post mine! Is it still going? That's awesome. Omg... can you imagine? "Jiminy Cockroach." Ew! :lmao:

I really want to try to meet them! I feel like Tiana is the one princess that you know will be gorgeous before you meet her. I've never seen any 'sub-par' Tianas hahaha. And I've always heard really great things about experiences meeting them so I would love it!

HERE WE GO!

I'm glad too! Hahah I have no clue! Honestly, I feel like these smiley arrangements are changing every day. It's so confusing. BUT, I've cracked the code! If you just type : hug : (without the spaces in between) it'll come out:  see?? :rotfl: Thanks for your almost-smiley-hug though! It's the thought that counts.

Oh good! I'm glad you enjoyed them! I was thinking that it might bore some people so that's why I posted the other update right after hahah.

Yes, pizza would be lovely, thank you. I know! It was quite nasty. I could not finish it.

HAHAHA! This lady was a little too serious about her bus driver duties, I think. Like, would it really have been an issue if I'd gotten on the bus right away? I didn't even know there were people on the bus because I didn't see them. I'm sure they would have lived.

Like apparently I was just in movie-reference mode! Sorry about that! Is 'Me Party' stuck in your head again??

Oh I KNOW. Her skinny little face is just overjoyed at waving to all the parade watchers.

Hahaha I have no clue! Also, I didn't mention this before, but the guy was carrying a McDonald's cup around Magic Kingdom. I'm like, did he just wander in off the streets? Maybe he was getting Beauty and the Beast and Lion King mixed up, or combining them, or something! And that chickmunk thing... no clue! :lmao:

I'm so glad that you were feeling better!

Thanks! Me too! (Obviously, hahah.)

Oh you're very welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised with how cute it was as well! Hahaha that's awesome! Did your DH find it interesting? I hope so. :goodvibes

Oh really? Well I'm glad you like that one! I guess it'd be hard not to!

Hahah I know, who knew lions had horns and fangs? :rotfl: I have to wonder if he was referring to Chip, Dale, or CHICK the Chickmunk??? Bless his heart.

Yay! I'm so happy you're feeling better!! Ew on the greasy pizza, though!! Good thing it didn't make your stomach upset again!

Thank you!!! Oh my gosh, good point! I'm so glad that didn't happen!

It was a BEAUTIFUL day. It was perfect!

HAHAHA it was a very serious thing (to her)! I know! And it just makes it so much worse when you really want to make it somewhere and you think you're gonna be late!

I can't believe you're going so soon! That's amazing!

It was SO hard to not burst out laughing right in front of him! I wish I knew what the person on the other end said!

I know! Isn't it crazy? I can't believe I'm on my last full day! The good news is that my next trip is only a couple months away and I'll start a brand new TR after that! :woohoo:

I'm so glad you got to feeling better so that you could enjoy your last day! :goodvibes

And you made it for the parade! :yay: I love the Elf reference when talking about getting into the park. That's one of my favorite movies.

You got some great shots of the parade! :thumbsup2

Thank you! Me too!

Hahah thanks! It's one of my favorite Christmas movies too! I thought it was fitting, since it was Christmas time hahah.

Oh, well thanks! I feel like some of them turned out a little weird though, from the video camera! Next time I know not to do that! :)

I'm glad you woke up well! I bet it was sometimes you ate. Rest is the best thing, so it was good you slept.

I love listening to people talk at Disney, a lot of them have no clue and it can be funny!

Thank you! I'm guessing it was too.

Yeah, exactly! It worked out really well too, because I hadn't really seen much of the resort yet!

It's such a great parade! I was so glad I made it right on time, even with the slow bus driver haha!

I agree! I really wanted to know what the person on the other end was saying! I wonder how this guy ended up at Disney, since he was surprised that there even was a parade! :lmao:
