You go CM's

I agree with the consensus here. One person (or a parent and a child) joining a group of at least that size is not a big deal. 3-5 people trying to get to "their friends" somewhere ahead of us makes me super grumpy. But really it hasn't happened that much to us, thankfully. Our World of Color experience (on the rail) was something else entirely...

We had line issues twice when we were there - one of them was that our poor 2.5-year-old started choking on her snack a little, and the scariness of it caused an accident... but even if it had been a sudden potty emergency (which could happen with my older DD - she seriously has to go every 30 minutes if she's staying well hydrated) I think it would have worked out the same way. DH took her back out through the line (Mater's) and talked to a CM briefly. After she was cleaned and changed, the CM just took them to the loading area and they waited until we got to them. It's always better to talk to a CM than try to insert yourself into a line, I think...

. . . I have 2 DD with T1 diabetes. A very hidden disease. My girls look to an outsider as extremely healthy and able bodied, but if we have a hypoglycemic incident it can happen at any time any where. I guess I wrongly assumed that if it happened when we were in line I could jump out and run to a food cart quick and grab something. . . If I were to be stopped multiple times in the above mentioned situation it could mean going from simply treating a low BG, to spending the day in ICU.

Speaking generally, I'm ok with people who were in line and have to pop out of line rejoining their party. My issue is as others have said, with an individual or group joining those in line when they have never been waiting in the line to begin with.

That being said, I also agree with others that if you know you are going to be entering a long line, you can take steps to lessen your chances of having to leave the line and creating an awkward situation of re-entering the line. If you're entering a line of 60 minutes or more, going to the restroom beforehand is a good idea. To the situation described above, I would think checking and having readily accessible snacks before entering a long line would be good, too; if being stopped a couple times on re-entering the line could be the difference between simply treating low BG to spending the day in ICU, so too could a longer run and/or wait to obtain the snacks if waiting until an incident occurs.
