You bet your aft we had a good time! A Wonder trip report Update 12/30 p.59-611

Lovely dinner ladies. So great that you were table mates.

Jenny - I love your description of your other table mates. The "something fishy" has me intrigued. did you ever figure it out? Very nice of the one parent to take a big crew like that on a cruise.

Oh I had to laugh about the head water. :rotfl2: Yup - I know that type very well. Sounds like your servers more than made up for him.

I can't think of a better first night than watching Mary Poppins on Deck 10. Poor Joshua. Sorry he didn't find anything fun to do in the teen club.

Pam - thanks for your update as well. Boo to the fish.

Hope your grandmother is doing OK. so Sorry to hear she in unwell.

The head server was very nice but very schmalzy if that makes sense. I am sure he feels the need to verse every table on who does what and wouldn't have known I was in the serving business for years but still, it comes on a little thick. I'd love to see the research that supports better survey scores when things are painfully scripted.

Joshua lightened up on the club scene after he made friends. He still didn't spend much time in them though.

Oh yes, I believe we figured out some of our table mates drama/crisis/etc. :scared1:  And so did some of the rest of the ship.

So I guess you don't like the Hobbit? :rotfl2:

I had to go back to my TRs and see if I missed those Truffle purses, but they are new on the Menu. I can't wait to try them, I have heard so much about them.

I always liked Animator's and think the paintings are cool the way that they change and everything. I'm glad you guys liked the Funnel vision so much.

So where is the crazy tablemate drama? :confused3

The pursettes are divine, much better than they look. I had read Ellen rave about them so my expectations were high and they didn't disappoint. You must try them. :thumbsup2

The truffle pursettes were literally one of the best things that I ate onboard. I have been craving them for three weeks now.

I totally agree. They were outstanding; rich and flavorful but not too heavy. Delicious.

Great updates from both you and Pam. Too bad Josh didn't enjoy the Edge. I know my niece liked the Edge on the Dream better than the Wonder.

I wonder if he'll like it better on another ship? Do they differ a lot?

Oh, how I LOVE those pasta pursettes!! YUMMO.

I also love falling asleep with the balcony door slightly ajar, listening to the waves.....Calgon, take me away!!! :cool1: What a great way to end the night.

:cloud9: :lovestruc Total nirvana with the slight breeze and ocean sounds. I haven't slept like that since I've been home.

My niece seemed to think they had more activities and electronics on the Dream than on the Wonder in the Edge. I'm not sure, but I think the area was larger on the Dream too.

This good to know. I didn't know they differed at all. It's something I'll research better for our next cruise. :thanks:

:surfweb::badpc::surfweb::badpc::surfweb::badpc:

The suspense is killing me...I feel a "worst table mate EVER" award coming, I hpe you are not building us up for nothing....

You were totally chatty this trip. :thumbsup2 They were goofy though bragging about the amount of cruises, don't you think?

I couldn't stomach the awkwardness again, I needed those names! :rotfl:

Yes, they were a bit goofy, weird about sharing personal details.

Did I have a bite? I love that we were all eating off each others plates at meal 1.

You did indeed! I loved it too, total comfort level :goodvibes

I want some right now! :dance3:

That would be good as an entree wouldn't it. Good idea for next time popcorn::

I forgot your fish was tough, that was a bummer. He did get upset because you didn't want a new one and didn't tell him right away. I think they scare them with those stupid surveys and scores. The servers are at our mercy to be perfect. It's a little overwhelming.

I'm sure its a very stressful job. But they should be able to read if people are laid back or high maintenance. After that delicious potato I didn't need any more food!

I forgot I took him. :thumbsup2 Those scallops were good. That was sweet for Ozzy to bring him those. He knew from then on Joshua loved his seafood.

Josh was being too cool for school saying you could escort him if you wanted.

Ozzy was great. Did you chat with him on FB?

:lmao: :rotfl: You two! That's so fun. I do remember you telling him I needed a pic.

I got such a laugh out of that, I couldn't figure out why he didn't just lick the spoon, he said it looked gross

That's right, ACSO (adult child's SO- does that work?) wanted that cheesecake and almost left before it arrived. I think that was the last time we saw ACSO sober. ;) And so it begins to unravel........:scared:

I think you're right!

It was totally the perfect way to end such a great day. :goodvibes

It really was. I think that was my first time watching the funnel vision at night too.

That's right, he wanted to hot tub but instead curled up with me. More pizza. :lmao:

I'm glad he didn't, it was cold!

I did bundle you up. You didn't know I was going to mother you, did you? :rotfl2:

I love being looked after. Usually I'm the one who does that.

It was such a wonderful day. Thank you for joining us and making it so. :grouphug:

Thank YOU for sharing your vacation with me!

Four hours on Chloe's hair and it didn't work! :faint:

Fingers crossed Friday yields results.

I couldn't stomach the awkwardness again, I needed those names! :rotfl:

In retrospect I can see now why they'd be standoffish if this isn't there first rodeo of drama. :rotfl2:

Yes, they were a bit goofy, weird about sharing personal details.

See above. :thumbsup2

You did indeed! I loved it too, total comfort level :goodvibes

Totally. :goodvibes Oh and your gift arrived back to me somehow. :confused3 Im resending it this week.

That would be good as an entree wouldn't it. Good idea for next time popcorn::

Totally. 4 were hardly enough.

I'm sure its a very stressful job. But they should be able to read if people are laid back or high maintenance. After that delicious potato I didn't need any more food!

I agree. We were clearly low maintenance.

Josh was being too cool for school saying you could escort him if you wanted.

Ozzy was great. Did you chat with him on FB?

Thats right. But we all know he wanted me to take him. :cool2:

::yes:: I have talked to Ozzy on FB. He's quite handsome in real clothes. Tattoos too. Likes his wine and food. Girl, you really need a Facebook.

I got such a laugh out of that, I couldn't figure out why he didn't just lick the spoon, he said it looked gross

It was so good and he loves soup. Weird kid.

I think you're right!

It's my job. ;)

It really was. I think that was my first time watching the funnel vision at night too.

Funnel vision was one of the things I enjoyed most on the ship.

I love being looked after. Usually I'm the one who does that.

Well being I could have had when I was about 15.......:lmao:

Thank YOU for sharing your vacation with me!

Thank you! :flower3: I couldn't imagine it without you.

Four hours on Chloe's hair and it didn't work! :faint:

Fingers crossed Friday yields results.

Thank you, we need it. It's less kinky now but still curly, less frizzy for sure. She likes it more but has her heart set on straight hair.

Hi all. I didn't think I'd get an update in before our road trip but M and the kids decided to watch The Hobbit: the desolation of Smaug. My options are to slam my head into the wall, poke my eye out with a hot fork, or finish an update. My insurance company surely thanks me for choosing to update.

Hobbit issues?

Is it the feet?

:lmao:

It was finally dinner time. I did forget to share this cute pic of me and Joshua on the deck. He was thanking his mumsie (me) for the trip.

Love it!

We had tablemates. Very nice table mates. And for future updates, as you'll hear more about said table mates, they'll be referred to as parent, adult child, adult child's SO, tween, and friend of tween. Parent was generous and decided to treat them all to a cruise. In one cabin was parent, tween, and tween's friend. In the other cabin was adult child and adult child's SO. Adult child and adult child's SO had recently moved in together and had been dating about 6 months. No judgement on shacking up, I did myself. This was parent and tween's 6 or 7th Disney cruise, yay them. To say the dynamic was interesting would be an understatement. I couldn't put my finger on what was unsettling but something was fishy.......we all chatted and it seemed like we'd have a blast during our MDRs and boy did we ever. Huh Pam?

oooohhhh I love a little foreshadowing....

Arjay from the Philippines was our assistant server and Ozzy from Turkey was our main server. Paulo from schmoozeville was the head server, ya know guy who walks around telling us our real servers a doing such a good job because of him. ;) Nice guy, not my style. He reminded me a little of Mr. Big from Sex and the City. I think I had some transference going on. :lmao: I like the worker bees better. Maybe it's because I was a server for many years. Ozzy and Arjay were friendly and prompt and we really enjoyed them. We got to know them more as the cruise went on.

I have a sneaking suspicion we had the same head server on our Alaska cruise. I truly had issues with the fact I had to tip him at all. For many of the reasons you outlined above.

I also ordered what could have been the worst cup of coffee known to man. How can Disney call it coffee? There was hardly enough cream and sugar to choke it down. Seriously Disney, you're top notch across the board; I am begging you to invest in more than instant muck served as coffee. I got decaf to be exact. Sewage.

Oh my word, that was brave. Via in packets or the espresso bar, those are your ONLY options. YUCK.

Dinner was relaxing and wonderful. Pam and I looked over the Navigator and mulled over our evening choices. Guess what these two party girl did? We opted for Mary Poppins on funnel vision. party:

Love it! Although it sounds chilly

I don't think we watched the movie more than 10 minutes when I got a text from Joshua saying: this (meaning the club) sucks. LOL! I was not surprised at all. He met Pam and I and cuddled with me while we all watched the movie. It was the perfect way to end our first ever Disney cruise day; full bellies, good friends, on the open sea, watching a Disney movie. I mean how cool is that?!?!

Bummer but I'm not surprised either.

For my entree I decided on the snapper but don't care for seared fish. I asked Ozzy if I could have it well done but he very much discouraged this saying it would be tough. So I said I would yield to his wisdom and take it as it came.

ebfce81f3085f2fd00c273727593aabb.jpg

Well it came tough. I was very worried he had listened to my request and asked for the chef to make it well done so I didn't mention anything to him. Big mistake. I felt like I was being read the riot act when he found out I wasn't happy with my meal. Come to find out later that two of our tablemates also ordered the snapper and theirs was tough too. Thank goodness it wasn't my fault and he didn't ask for mine well done.

:sad2:

I don't know where to put this in but it must be mentioned. The baked potato soup arrived and Josh excitedly put his spoon in to get a taste. I quickly said in a somewhat animated tone, 'Wait! your mom needs a picture first!' It was like he was a kid with his hand caught in the cookie jar. A panicked but very funny look came over his face and instead of just licking the spoon clean of soup he wiped it on his napkin :crazy2: you were chatting with someone so missed all if this and I'm not sure if you remember us telling you later. It was hilarious.

I love it! My family all turn their plates to me now so I can take a picture first. Cracks me up.

Great first day and night ladies!

Pam, thinking of you and your grandma :grouphug:

Girls, it has been such a day! I have been *mentally" going back on the Wonder all day long. I may or may not be reading this trip report over and over, trying to time travel... Lol. Looking forward to day two. Bring on the mixology...

I am going to start propsing ideas about what these epic bad table mates did. Let me know if I have a winner:

a. human sacrifice on the table
b. "discover the magic"....in the dining room
c. give eachother a pedicure at the table
d. attack Mickey as he walks through Animators Palate

or

perhaps

I'm not trying to create problems or drama, but guys and your whole impatience, just give poor Jenny a chance and let her tell the story in her own time frame. She's already told you she's not your girl for rapid fire updates and those of us who know and love her and have followed her reports know that her pace depends on real life and not that of the readers. I don't mean to sound harsh, but I really think you are trying to put added stress on someone who really does the best that she can and doesn't need her readers trying to add extra guilt.

In retrospect I can see now why they'd be standoffish if this isn't there first rodeo of drama. :rotfl2:

You're so right. I hope the young one manages to escape.

Totally. :goodvibes Oh and your gift arrived back to me somehow. :confused3 Im resending it this week.

Bummer. Was there a reason on the package? I hate for you to pay for postage again.

::yes:: I have talked to Ozzy on FB. He's quite handsome in real clothes. Tattoos too. Likes his wine and food. Girl, you really need a Facebook. [/CENTER]

I bet he is. I thought he was handsome already but add tattoos!

That's the story of many of my coworkers.

Thank you! :flower3: I couldn't imagine it without you.

Me either :goodvibes

Thank you, we need it. It's less kinky now but still curly, less frizzy for sure. She likes it more but has her heart set on straight hair.

How long will the straight last?

Is it terrible to admit that I've never once had a Mickey bar?! :headache: I think I need to fix that!

Looks like a nice meal at AP --- fun to see the pictures you took over the course of the meal!

Other than Star Wars, I'm not a big fantasy/Sci Fi fan. ;)

Oooooohhhhh I love a little foreshadowing....

Handsome face with salt and pepper Ken doll hair?

Oh my word, that was brave. Via in packets or the espresso bar, those are your ONLY options. YUCK.

I had read it was bad but didn't believe it was as bad as folks described. Sewage.

Love it! Although it sounds chilly.

It was but not overly so. I always bring a blanket to the movies. :thumbsup2

I love it! My family all turn their plates to me now so I can take a picture first. Cracks me up.

You've trained them well. :worship: Mine will look at me, pause, roll their eyes, and tell me to hurry. :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: Love RS but like Alison so kindly said, I'm not the hurry up girl. Sometimes I go a while without an update for no other reason than life gets nuts. Hope you stick around but totally understand if you don't.

He's pretty cute and single from what I can tell. Wonder how many CMs read the boards? :rotfl:

Forever they say. They explained how it works but its too complicated for me.

You must get one. They are the best and just scream Disney. I also love them in the parks.

I loved AP, the restaurant is just beautiful. I can't imagine how lovely it is on the newer ships.

I think you are taking things a tad too seriously. I am posting humorous, tongue in cheek posts waiting for the big reveal. The OP already told me she takes a while, I am not sure where you got the impression I was putting stress on her.

You can qualify your response all you want, but you took the thread to a dark place. I invite you to quote me where I "tried" to put stress or guilt on her, like you claim. Show me where I had a specific, clear intent to do that.

If I did so unintentionally (quite possible), I apologize...but you claim a level of malice that is not there in any way, shape, or form.

To the OP (sorry, I do not know you well enough to call you by your first name), I love your trip report so far and am looking forward to your updates, whenever life allows them to come. I will keep posting my funny posts unless you would prefer I stop. If "you cant hang in" comment is your way of telling me to **** and wait, I can do that too.

No, not at all. Glad to have you. I'm Jenny. :goodvibes

franandaj meant no harm at all. She's very sweet, very kind, and most of all respectful. Words without inflection are easy to misinterpret. I think you misunderstood her. She's a good friend, knows me well, and knows I guilt easily; it's the Jewish Catholic in me. ;) She was simply reiterating that sometimes there are lags in updates in case you missed it.
