I am trying to book activities for the Disney Wonder and signed in right at midnight EST. I have a message:
Thank you for your patience.
You are currently in a waiting room.

Due to high demand from Guests looking to book activities and dining experiences on the all- new Disney Wish and its accompanying cruises, our site is experiencing more traffic than usual. As soon as space is available, you will be redirected to our main site. Please do not refresh the page or select the "back" button or you may lose your place in line.

I haven't seen that before.

We were on trying for the DVC Wish cruise. Use the app. We both got in faster than computer.

This is actually the same type of system Ticketmaster uses for high-demand releases - like Hamilton ticket drops. The virtual waiting room is not a Disney IT exclusive. It's actually a way to help keep the system from crashing. RunDisney uses it too.

Is it a “random” waiting room or is it assigned based on when you log in? I may need to log in earlier.

At least with RunDisney it seems to refresh itself periodically and it seems to be whoever happens to be up at that point gets through because I've had multiple browsers open on RunDisney registration day and it's not always the first one I opened that gets through.

They did not have that for the MV of the Wish....that night every error message under the sun kept appearing and people were very frustrated. I guess this is a workaround.

But, question....OP were you checking in for a Wonder cruise or a Wish cruise? Post says Wonder cruise but the message was related to the Wish?

I think the Wish is testing their website traffic capacity in a pretty unprecedented way for DCL. Far more repeat cruisers who know about the midnight drop time and have higher CC status, and everyone wants to try the new activities like Enchante and Olaf's picnic.

The Disney World website has often used the waiting room concept on drop days, e.g., when they first opened bookings for Savi's lightsabers after Galaxy's Edge was created, and when they reopened ADR booking after cancelling everyone's reservations in 2020. It is annoying, but better than the alternative pp described of just having everything glitch with error messages because the wesbite can't handle to volume.

Wonder cruise. That is why the Wish message was so confusing. They should just have a generic “wait your turn” message.
