YoHo, YoHo, A Mother's Day Trip to the Mouse!

Your plan looks good to me. Last year we got up at 2:30am for a 6:30am flight. I think your plan looks good. Once we got to WDW we got our second wind and was up until 11pm. A little nap might be nice if you can fit it in but if you can't I'm sure you will know when you've all had enough for the day. We hit the door at 11pm and the girls were asleep by 11:05 :cool1:

Your first day plans look great, very realistic! I'd make sure you get a little nap in there after getting up at 2:30am!!! Yowza! Although with this being your 1st real WDW vacation, you guys will probably be high on Disney! :rotfl: Last year our flight was at 6:50am and we got up at 4:30am. We live about 15min from the airport so we were there at 5:30am. I'm sure with 4 kids, it takes a lot longer to get everyone out the door!
We'll try for a nap, but my kids would most likely be very upset with me...Unless they just pass out on the beds.

Great first day plans. That is an early wake up time!
I know, Very early wake up time, I'm hoping if we go to bed early, this will be ok. The last time we went to florida, we had the same flight time and got up at the same time, and had no problems, so i'm sure we'll be fine.

I agree, I think once we are at Disney, we'll be wide awake, and we can be ready to leave MK and head back to the hotel whenever the kids are ready to.

YAHOO FOR ME, I MULTIQUOTED!!!!!!!

Tonight I went over to my SIL's house with my nephew Sean, and Joy(my other SIL) met us over there with Katelyn and Lex. All of the kids had fun playing together, we didn't get home until almost 8:30. So kind of late, but we were having fun. Little Lex, who's 17 months old, has a shoe obsession, it's so funny. The kid already LOVES shoes, she walks around with them, happy as can be. She's too cute. They liked their shirts. I was so happy with Katelyn's reaction to hers. She loved it, her face lit up when I gave it to her, she told me cannot wait to wear it. I was very happy.:goodvibes Sean liked his too. He's so funny, when he opened the door for us when we got there, he said "I'm so excited that you're here"
So, a fun night with the cousins.

I forgot to mention that you can look for the Mickey Mouse hand on the disney world maps for where to find the characters. Times vary for some locations and you will find out the specifics at each park on the day you are there by getting a Times Guide when you enter the park. Allears.net has a pretty comprehensive list of characters and where to find them if you're interested to find where you might find some of the kids favorites. Some locations have characters throughout the day and others only have characters at specific times. If you need some help just let me know. We've done most of the character experiences multiple times.

Our first full day in Disney, Day 2:

Depending on how we recover from our first tiring day will depend on what time we start our AK day.
If we need to sleep in we'll use PLAN A

Plan A: Sleep in a little, get some breakfast, and head over to AK for the DISMEET, YAY. We're meeting at the Safari at 12pm (I believe this is still the plan) After that we'll have lunch at Pizzafari, then go over to camp Minnie Mickey for some character fun.
Then onto "It's tough to be a bug"
The parade is at 3:45
Then onto Dinoland, we'll check out the boneyard, ride triceratop spin, and Dinosaur!
We want to eat dinner at Flame Tree Barbecue
I absolutely want to ride Kali river rapids, i'm sure we'll all be nice and hot.
I think at this point we'll have to decide whether we want to get into festival of the lion king and the pocahontas show or take the train to Rafiki's planet watch.
AK is night time EMH, so it is open until 8pm

If we have an early night on Day 1, we'll use Plan B:
PLan B: Plan B will just get us an earlier start at AK, so we would go to Camp Minnie Mickey before the Dismeet, and most likely have time to do Festival of the lion king and Rafiki's planet watch.

After the park closes, it will still be fairly early for us, we'll take a night swim. i think that is going to end up being the best part of our trip. Sitting by the pool at night under the palm trees:cloud9: while me and the kids swim. Dh would rather sit by the pool and watch, he's not much of a swimmer.

What would you do about my AK plans. Would you try to get an earlier start and get more in, or get a later start and have a more relaxed touring approach, and still get in enough because the park is open until 8pm?

We're just more night people than we are morning people! So I guess this day will really depend on if we want to get up that early. Because remember, we'll have gotten up at 3am the morning before:eek: BUT, I just don't want to be home the week after and say " Oh we should have just gotten up early and saw more....I just want to make sure we do everything we really want to do and see.

Day 2 looks great too! We're getting a late start at AK that day because we are doing a photo shoot that morning. I think both of your plans will work, it all depends on the night before. :cloud9: My only warning is that AK is ALWAYS 20 degrees hotter than what the weather man says it's going to be. If the high is 75 that day, expect AK to be 95!! :scared: All of the foliage and smaller walkways make this park HOT! You also forgot the 2 best rides at AK, EE and Dinosaur!

Ok, thanks for the heat warning! Maybe we'll be better off getting a later start seeing how we would like to be there for night time EMH. If we get there for park opening the kids may be ready to leave by 3pm.

As for EE and Dinosaur......I am afraid of the way EE looks. The only way I will go on that is if Anthony BEGS me to....I mean down on his knees begging me to go on with him... But I don't think that will happen...He's a ride chicken, He didn't ride a rollercoaster until 2 years ago, and that was a tame one. Emily, who's almost 10 would never be able to persuaded to ride such a thing either. And dh, forget it. We went to an amusement park last summer, and he took Anthony on this ride,(just like splash mountain) and I snapped of picture of them coming down the hill, oh, my word, it's quite a picture, let me tell ya.
Dinosaur is a maybe. I guess depending on the wait time, maybe Dh and I will take Anthony and Emily on this, while my Mom waits with the other 2.I have heard it was very scary so I'm not sure if Lizzie and Sam will like it.
See just as i'm posting this about my Mom standing out with the younger ones, I realize i'm forgetting that she will be there to do that. Lovely!!!!!

Ok, I went back up to my AK plan post and added Dinosaur, you made me really want to ride it! It's a go!!!!!!

Hope you don't mind...I might copy your Plan A that day, too! We have a Boma ressie that night so I doubt we will come back to the park, though. Does anyone know how much time it takes to get from AK to AKL? I am hoping we can watch the parade!!!

Oh if and when we go together we will def be riding EE. It is so scary. I took Makenzie on with me. Dinosaur is pretty scary too. The girls I believed cried the hole time.

Of course I don't mind. I guess my plans came out alright then:goodvibes

OH NO , WE HAVE TO RIDE EE.....I CAN DO THAT FOR YOU THOUGH:eek:

Exactly right, I read this somewhere. It said AK is like a tropical rain forest and creates its own heat. I know living in the south that it gets so hot sometimes it will create storms from no where. We were at Pensacola Beach last year for the Blue Angels air show and out of nowhere a huge storm came up and before everyone could get off the beach, lightening struck several people. They were all huddled under their beach umbrellas. They should have known better but...........thankfully no one was seriously injured. We usually do AK as early as possible and have it done in about a half a day. There aren't too many A/C rides here so we try to hit the outside rides first when the day is the coolest. We will most likely use the pool at FW Cabins this year.

Well, Lizzie had her apppointment today with her nurse. Her nurse is so nice, she set Lizzie and Sam up with crayons, stickers and coloring pages, and sat down with me and went through everything, and we practiced giving the injections on a rubber thing (meant to be the skin) When it came down to do the real thing, the nurse said "ok, go ahead, Lizzie come up here" I panicked for a second, but I did it. Lizzie braced herself, her face was all crinkled up waiting for pain (Because like I said Lizzie has been through so many tests with needles) After I did it, she still sat there.....I thought it hurt her at first, so I asked her, and she hesitated for a second, like are you serious, it's done, and she said No that didn't hurt. So it went better than I thought, we'll be fine doing that nightly. The Dr. did tell me that most kids say it doesn't even hurt, but you never know what to believe until you do it yourself. So that's over, I feel much better about the whole thing. She'll go back every 3 months to have her height checked and make sure they don't have to lower or raise the dose. They said that some kids just take off growing really fast, and they don't want it to go that fast.
So after we left I took the girls to McDonalds! That always makes any day a good day:goodvibes
And that is that!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight at work, as long as it's slow, I will work on my Day 3 Plans:banana:

Oh, The nurse also printed out the Letter I need for when we fly stating that she needs the needles for her daily treatment. So that's all set YAY. She told Lizzie to have fun in Disney World as we were leaving, and it just made it feel that much closer.

Oh my word!!! I am on hold with Disney right now listening to When you wish upon a star, and I am almost in tears, Am I retarded, or is that normal!

I'm still on hold, I am speaking with the nicest cast member right now. His computer was not coming up, and he told me to sing, that will make it work faster, he's so nice. I told him don't worry I work with computers, I know how they are, and he said "But these are magical" Oh, he is awesome. They are all nice, but this one is special:cloud9:

Your AK plans look good. I'd play it by ear as far as the start time..if the kids are up and ready....then go! If not, relax and take it slow!

I'm so glad the appointment for Lizzie went well. I'm sure that is a relief for you!

Yay for magical CMs....always makes your day! :thumbsup2

Yay Lizzie!!:cheer2: You are AWESOME!!! I can't wait to meet such a brave girl!!

Yay to you, Mom! I'm sure it was scary to have to give your baby a shot! You are brave too!!

It is normal to tear up at any and all things Disney! Just wait until you get there!! You better go back to Target and get some Kleenex travel packs!!!

I am glad to hear that everything went well with Lizzie. She is a brave little lady. Giving the shots will get easier with each one, soon you won't even think about it. Dallas had to be admitted to the hospital a couple of years ago and the ER nurse could not get his IV started so I started it for her....lol.

Good for you mom! That is a tough to give your kiddo a shot. We did ivf a number of times and hubby had to do all the im shots. As much as I joked with hime about enjoying it LOL I know it was tough. Heck I had a hard time giving myself shots time after time. I hope that it goes smoothly and she has few side effects.
