YoHo, YoHo, A Mother's Day Trip to the Mouse!

I loved the T-shirts. I can't wait to see the ones that you are making for them. I'm really concerned to try to make them myself, you make it sound so easy but I'm sure I will mess them up.

Hi Joy,
I know we talked last night, but if you still need help I can come by some time this weekend and we can do one, then I know you'll be all set. I was scared at first too, but after the first one, you'll be good to go!

Math night...awe. Our school use to all kinds of activites. They even had a daddy/daughter event and mom/son each year. They don't really do anything here...its kind of sad. I REALLY wish they had soccer. I have no idea how to play sports that use your hands:eek:

Really , no soccer? That's a bummer. Do they offer any sports.
I am taking Lizzie and Sam to sign up for T-ball this saturday morning, that starts in early May. (No more sleeping in on Saturdays for me, not until the end of June anyway):scared:

So Sammie had a nice birthday day yesterday. Her teacher loved the Wall-e cake. She said all of the kids had fun looking through Sam's pictures. When the album got home there were smears of all kind all over it. There was blue marker or paint on one of the pages and a rip in the corner of the cover. I mean I kind of expected that to happen anyway. After I picked her up we went to eat at Mcdonalds (Wonderful Bday Lunch), and then when Lizzie and Emily got home from school we went to the park down the street with our neighbors, It was a nice day. Sam's Birthday fun is not over yet though, My Aunts , uncle, grandmother and cousin were away this past weekend and did not see Sam yet, so they are cooking dinner and having a little cake for her this sunday....and of course more presents. Emily is mad, she says that is not fair for her to get two parties. I tried explaining.....But there is no reasoning with that, so I gave up. :lmao:

Back to Disney Planning for me, I need to make a list of what I still need to buy. I feel like there is still so much, I feel like it's never going to end.
The kids are all set. They are all set with clothes, they have flip flops, they're getting crocs for easter, along with another Disney shirt. My brother's getting them bathing suits from the Disney store for Easter, Also for their baskets, I know i'll add things they can use on the plane, like a new game for their leapsters and ds's, so that's all set.
I know I need:
sunblock
2 more lanyards
more pins
A medium sized suitcase( I have 2 large ones and a small)
Travel sized deoderants,hairpsrays,lotion,powder.....
Big Pens for their Autograph books
I need maybe 3 or 4 tank tops
I may buy a few ponchos ( not sure though, it will be hot, the rain may feel good, has anyone tried to wear a poncho in the hot weather, are they too hot?)
That's all I can think of for now, although i'm sure there is more, and everytime I walk into a store, I see something and say "oh, we NEED that for Disney"
Oh, I think I might buy the big ziplock bags for either seperate outfits or to seperate socks, underwear, bathing suits, etc... I found this tip here on the dis. Because there is nothing worse than digging through a suitcase for a sock.

I have a full bottle of bugspray in my closet, do I need that? Are there bugs mid may. I heard of lovebugs but not too sure what they are and if bug spray keeps them away.

I think this weekend i'm going to sit down with the kids and go through all of the quick service restaurants and their menus and see where we will be eating. That sounds like FUN.

Love bugs aren't really a pain, they don't bite, they just get all over your car, and are everywhere. They're um, attached, which is why they're called "love" bugs. I haven't been effected too bad by mosquitos at disney, but not sure about the resorts. You'd mostly need it in the evenings, that's when the bugs are usually bad. As far as the ponchos, I've worn them in July, and they're no picnic, I've also been rained on, so not sure what the lesser to two evils there are. The poncho's DID get hot, to the point where I felt like I was steaming myself, was more wet from sweat then I would have been from the rain. BUT, that's a personal call, some people don't like getting rained on. You also don't want to be buying ponchos at Disney either, at almost 10 bucks a pop! So....I know, not much help there! :) I usually go with the flow, if it starts raining, I duck into a covered area, like Philharmagic, or something similar and wait for it to end. I do believe may falls into the BEFORE summer rainy season, so you should be alright.

That shopping list looks great so far! I do the same thing at the store...I always see something I NEED for the trip! LOL!

A couple things to think about......

Sunblock- I don't remember when you are arriving, but if you are going to be using the pool or go to the parks before your luggage arrives from ME you will want to pack some sunscreen in your carry-on bag. Then you get into the whole "less than 3 ounces" issue. Target has 1 oz tubes of sunscreen in their "travel size" section. (it's near the pharmacy at my Target, but not sure if that's standard) They are perfect to take on the plane...you can put them right in your quart-sized ziploc with any other liquids you are carrying on the plane then you have it as soon as you arrive.

Ponchos- We took rain ponchos when we went in 2007 (April 29-May5) and never used them. I would take them just in case, they don't take up much space and they are cheap at the $1 store.

Pens for Autograph books- I would suggest the retractable sharpies...we fumbled with the lid for the large sharpie we took last time. We would hand the pen to the character then have to fumble to get it back and put the cap back on...just easier to click it and be done!

Ziploc Bags- I took both quart sized and gallon sized on our last trip and was glad I did. I didn't use them to pack...I have a rolling system that works for us, but I did use them for wet suits, leftover snacks or candy, etc. They're lightweight to pack and fairly inexpensive...a good thing to have on hand.

Bug Spray- We never had a need for it. We didn't encounter mosquitoes or love bugs. And I hate mosquitoes! No problems at all when we were there.

Pins- Not sure what you are looking for but I got a great deal on a grab bag of pins (25 for $49 including shipping AND a free lanyard). I'd be happy to PM you the website.

Have a great day! :flower3:

Thanks, I guess i'll just pack a few for each of us, and decide if we want to use them if the time comes. Hopefully we will not even need them.

Thank you for all of the advice. I'm definatley going to bring a small 1-3 oz bottle of sunblock in my carryon.
Great idea with the pens, i'll make sure I don't get one with a cap. I would have never though of that , but i'm sure that is a pain to deal with , especially with my 4.
I guess i'll through my bugspray in my luggage in case we need it at night, but it sounds like we may not even need it.
And as for the pins, yeah, can you pm me the website. I'm in need of more pins. I only have 8 so far, that's 2 for each child....Ummm, Not gonna work!

Thanks again!

Oh I forgot to tell you about the Mickey phone call. I set up for Mickey to call Sam on tuesday for her Bday. It was an automated message from him, it was so cute. She was listening to him talk with her mouth open like "oh my...." It was awesome. I put it on speaker phone so we could all hear it. I recommend this it was great.

Too bad you didn't get a picture of her expression. The way you describe it, it sounds really cute.

I know, I meant to take a picture, but our neighbor was waiting for us to go to the park, I was trying to get everything ready to go while waiting, plus the call was 5 minutes late, I was getting nervous. So I was mad that I forgot to get out my camera.

So Yesterday Emily had a doctor's appt. so she got the day off from school. She was happy!

We went through all of the quick service restaurants and made a list of which ones we would be interested in. Emily is a picky eater, and between 7 people I though it would be much easier to already know which rest. offer what type of food so we're not walking around looking for something good to eat. My friend at work though I was nuts, but with 4 hot and hungry kids I wanted to be prepared. Although that's what we're all about here.:goodvibes
So these are the restaurants I was looking at. If anyone has any opinions or suggestions I will gladly take them. I've never been before, so i'm just going by the menus....and picky Emily. There are a few that I had to leave out because there was just nothing for her. Although she has agreed to try a few new things that week, I won't push it. And we don't eat seafood.

Magic Kingdom: (we'll have 2 and a half days at MK)
Casey's Corner
Cosmic Rays
El Pirata y El Perico
Pecos Bills
Pinocchio Village Haus

Epcot: World Showcase
Cantina de San Angel
Liberty Inn
Yakitori

Epcot: Future World
Electric Umbrella
Sunshine Seasons

Hollywood Studios:
Pizza Planet (A Must)
ABC Commissary
Backlot Express
Catalina Eddies
Rosies all american cafe

Animal Kingdom:
Pizzafari
Restaurantosaurus
Flame tree Barbecue

Downtown Disney:
Earl of Sandwich
Mcdonalds
Wolfgang puck express

I'm glad I got that done, it took us about an hour, i've been wanting to go through the restaurants for days now.

This weekend when Anthony gets here we are going to go through the park maps and all choose our favorites from each park to make sure that they get done. I'm also going to type out this list of restaurants and the times for the shows, parades and fireworks. My friend from work has a laminating machine, and she is going to laminate my little cheat sheets so I can carry them around in my backpack. I feel so prepared, it feels so great:cool1:

HAPPY 53 MORE DAYS FOR US!!!!!!!!! MY LITTLE BUZZ LIGHTYEAR ON MY TICKER IS AT THE HALFWAY MARK.

I commented on a couple of the CS places that I've eaten at. You've chosen some great places. It sounds like you are doing all of the necessary homework for an excellent trip!:thumbsup2

There's my picks for you, we tend to lean towards the burgers and dogs, but venture for pizza every so often!! Enjoy!!

wlwilliams, mytwodisneyboys, and bouncycat, Thank you so much for your opinions, 2 strikes against ABC Commissary does it for me, I'll skip that one.
Sunshine Seasons is going to be a must along with earl of sandwich, flame tree barbecue, cosmic rays, and pizzafari.
We are absolutely doing Pizza Planet in HS, what other QS would be a good choice for us there. I know Catalina Eddies is Pizza, so we'll probably want to skip that.
I cannot wait to eat in Disney World all week!!!

I went to Target today to buy more transfer papers. I am making my boss a tshirt in the morning and bringing it into work for her tomorrow. She picked out the design. She is so funny. She's going to be in Disney World next week, for her Birthday. We are having her a surprise Mickey party at work tomorrow night. How fun is that, right. One of the other supervisors is making a Mickey Mouse cake, and another is sewing her a bag to bring in the parks with her. It's gonna be fun.
I am making my nieces and nephew's shirts tomorrow as well. I'll post pictures of them. My boss's shirt is going to be really nice, I can't wait to make that one. I also decided I wanted to replace Anthony's shirt for our HS day, I got a gray tank top and a new design.....You shall see tomorrow. Hopefully i'll have time to post them before work, if not then sunday morning.

So, while at Target I traveled over to the travel section and bought lots of fun travel size stuff.
Travel size deoderant for dh and I
toothpaste
I already bought toothbrushes
soap
hairspray
2 1 ounce sunblocks (very excited about these)
travel zip lock bags for our carryon liquids
shaving cream

(Awww a disney commercial is on right now....I want to be there so bad)

So I had fun picking up a few items for the trip, it made it feel even closer than it is.
Well goodnight. Dh is really sick today, so i'm hoping the kids don't get it next. We're going to go sign up for Tball in the morning. So gotta get to bed.

Ooh, I can't wait to see the t-shirts! I wanna have a Mickey party! That sounds like tons of fun!! I'm anxious to hit the travel aisle at Target too!

I hope your DH is feeling better soon and I hope you and the kids don't get it!
