Oh, poor DS. He woke up toward the very end of our Brown Derby meal and was not hungry. At. All. And it was late. And he hadn't eaten breakfast. All reason would indicate he should be hungry. But he wasn't.
So at first we thought maybe he was a little tired. But as we left, we realized, he just didn't look good at all. So we tried to get him to drink something, and gave him some Tylenol. Grape flavored. Liquid. Because that's the best kind there is.
We were hoping to distract him with The Little Mermaid. We'd happened upon the show the year before and he just loved it. I waited for DH to park the stroller to get in line, and we were cutting it really close to show time. So close that I was worried about getting in. And just as we were getting to the front of the line, guess what happened?
Odd that I should be at this point in our trip considering what Tink posted about rude people / children.
Yup. This whole group literally cut right in front of us in the queue. Which is impressive, considering how close we were all standing together. I was so, so disgusted. It wasn't just that we hoped to distract him with the show, we wanted to get him in somewhere air conditioned, too. And this group of people cut right in front of us. And I said it right out loud to DH. I was disgusted. I really must have been, because that's the second time I've written it! Normally, I can handle it. I'm cool. I have time. But with a sick nugget in my arms, because literally, DS had to be carried, I was really ticked.
Thankfully, some sort of Disney magic must have been on our side, or the CM took pity on us and was looking for a group of three. Since it was just getting to show time, it was very difficult to find seats together, but we did. On the end, in not such a great spot, but hey, we were in, it was cool, and DS loves the show. Now, I know he enjoyed it, and I remember him watching. DH kept asking him quietly how he liked it and if he was okay.
We decided to head over to Playhouse Disney, and the timing was just perfect. As the Little Mermaid was getting out, Playhouse Disney was just letting guests in. I love it when I time those two right. It's amazing to me how much MGM has turned into a park for DS. As a matter of fact, without revealing too much, I'm going to have to say, this was one of the most fun days in regard to doing things for him, you know? I am always amazed when people ask what there is to do for kids at MGM? Um, a ton!
Anyway, we headed into Playhouse Disney to partake of the new show. And DS looked bad. Very, very bad.
Then worse.
And DH and I both looked at each other. We were totally prepared to make the quick exit. DS went white as a sheet and looked as though he was going to throw up.

Like this guy, but not green. He was laying across me, and did sort of watch / enjoy the show, but we knew then, something just wasn't right. He felt really, really hot.
As I carried him out, DH and I debated taking him to first aid. As in I wanted to take him, and DH said, honey, they're going to tell us what we already know. He has a fever, and he's dehydrated. Since he'd already had Tylenol, and wasn't drinking what we were offering him, we decided to do what any sane parents would do.
Push some good old-fashioned frozen sugar water on the kid.
Colorful frozen sugar water, at that.
In the form of an Itzakadoozie. I love saying that. Those are the best popsicles, they really are. Now, DH was waiting in a shaded area near where the Little Einsteins do their meet and greet while I went up to the cart to get the Itzakadoozie and some bottled water. When I tried to pay, the CM gave me everything for free. At first, I didn't get it. I was not really in my right mind, worried about DS, and I kept offering him my card. And he kept saying, no, the machine's not working, you just take them. I asked if he wanted cash, he just smiled, no, no, you take them.
Bewildered, but smiling, I said thank you very much! I was so grateful. How did he know that little bit of magic was just what we needed right then?
I took the goods back to the boys and told DH about getting everything for free. I felt so fortunate.

We gave DS the popsicle, and he made a good job of it. I started to feel relieved. At least we were getting him hydrated, regardless of how. We walked around a bit, dosing with Tylenol when necessary. We decided to pass some time in the arcade, because it was cool. We just didn't feel comfortable having him out in the heat for long, not with how hot he was and everything.
Now, DS loved the arcade. And our claw machine curse continued. Still no dice! Hmm...this was turning out quite strangely. Normally, we are golden on the claw machines in Pizza Planet. We own them. They're ours, I tell you, ours. Every single year, without fail, we get a great toy for DS.
Well, not this year. Now as we were playing around in the arcade, a little more color started coming back to DS' face. We were pushing fluids on him pretty hard, and he was starting to drink more. We took it really, really easy, just stopping at various places in the park and letting him see toys in the shops. He was always so good about putting things back, I was so proud of him.
And here it is folks.
The only photo you'll ever see of the TK clan. All of the TK clan.
Heads included.
I hope you like us.
I'm a little nervous.
What did you think, I was really going to go against my privacy thing?
Heh heh.
Remember me? Pirate.
On a side note, does anyone else get claustrophobic in Tattoine Traders? It never fails. I head into that shop brave, with the best intentions, and every time the ride lets out, I have a near panic attack. Too many people. Too small a space. Must get out immediately. It happened to me this year too, so as the boys were finishing up, I waited outside. And then "forced" them to take pictures on the racer with the Endor backdrop. Of course they were willing! I have one of DS alone, and one of the two of them. I love those pictures.
What with the color back in his face, and his improved mood, I thought maybe we could chance a ride. We decided to try The Great Movie Ride. I was a little concerned, because there are some scary parts, but I thought as long as we had Spiderman, we'd be okay.
Now, as we were walking in that direction, DS, who has built in cart antenna, spotted one with pretzels, and he asked for one.
HUZZAH! The boy wanted food! DH and I were so excited! And a pretzel wasn't so unhealthy, so I was grateful. We sat on a bench while he ate, and as he was noshing, he asked for some orange juice. WOO HOO! Now I was mega excited. He was eating, and he wanted something specific to drink that would be really good for him. Now, where to find orange juice? I was hoping they'd have it at the ABC Commissary, and they did. By the time we finished there, and DS had eaten most of the pretzel, it was time for our fastpass return for Toy Story Mania.
Let the great debate begin.
The boy was looking better, but we were worried.
We'd never been on the ride before. When we were sitting, and DS was eating his pretzel, DH and I actually discussed the possibility that we may have to go alone...or not at all. We decided to chance it. He'd been doing pretty well, and even though we had no idea what to expect, we thought / hoped he'd like it.
Now DS was really Daddy's boy at this point, so they ended up sitting together. I loved the queue area, by the way, but lament that as part of the fastpass line, you totally bypass Mr. Tato. Ah well. Maybe someday. I won't spoil it for anyone. But we LOVED it. And DS did just fine, and really enjoyed himself, as a matter of fact.
After that, we did head over to TGMR, and I read DH the riot act about NOT showing DS where the alien was. I knew DS wouldn't look up unless it was pointed out to him, and he didn't. We had the gangster story line with a sort of lackluster girl mobster. She did her lines with a great accent, but I miss the cowboy story line. I just really liked the golly aspect to that. Now, since we had Spiderman with us, DS did just fine. He really liked the part with the Wizard of Oz. Who doesn't?
Now, I felt badly that DH hadn't gotten any thrill rides in today, so we decided to check out the single rider line for RR Coaster. Unfortunately, a little lax on our communication skills, I didn't realize that DH was actually going to ride it, I thought he was checking on the time. So when he didn't come back for a while, I decided to take a little stroll, figuring that he'd ditched us.
Being the indulgent mother that I was at this point, and just happy that my little peanut was feeling better, I got him another Itzakadoozie. I know, I know. But I really wanted him to keep more fluids in. He was looking a lot better, and this one he finished. (The first one, he got about 3/4 of the way through and stopped.) I called DH to let him know where we were, and he met up with us.
We decided to head back to the resort, but not before I made a little pit stop in one of my favorite shops in the whole World.
Ah, yes, my friends.
The Villain Candy Store.

Now although DS was feeling better, we certainly weren't going to let him have free reign in a candy store. He still needed to eat some kind of dinner at some point. So DH kept him in the merchandise side, and when I was done browsing over there, I headed over to get my glorious, my magnificent, my much coveted junky apple.
:::cue choir of angels:::
Oh, my junky apple. I think I could write a sonnet about how beauteous it was. I got an apple covered in chocolate fudge, covered in Reeses Pieces. There may have been some caramel in there too, I'm not sure.
With my purchase safely hidden in the backpack, we said our goodbyes to DHS, knowing we wouldn't be back on this trip. Back at the resort, we grabbed some dinner from Roaring Forks, and took it back to the room. We ate, then watched the Magic Kingdom fireworks from our beds. DS really enjoyed them this time, and it was such a great way to end the day. We gave him some more Tylenol, and then off to bed.
Or was it?
Well, I did go to bed then. But that didn't stop me from hearing the junky apple's siren call in the middle of the night.
"TK....
TeeeeeeeeKaaaaaaayyyyyyy....
I know you're not sleep-ing..."
I woke up at 1115. DH had the TV on, but he was asleep. DS was out.
I was, for all intensive purposes, alone.
Alone with my junky apple. I ate half of it under the cover of night while the boys slept. Oh...so good. Something that good should be a sin. I'm sure I'll have to go to confession over it.
It was that good.
Maybe not BGPC good, but as I have no frame of reference, let it be said that it was gud. G-U-D, gud.
