Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life for Three... C 32, P 39 - The End...Or Is It?

Every morning, I would wake up and write my notes on what had happened the day before.

Weird, funky, DISNEY! thing in common #8,629b.

I swear my husband is like the Pied Piper. The little ones just flock to him and giggle uncontrollably.

Well, better other children then other women. ;)
Though, if they did I could see why. Your DH is a treasure. You are a lucky, lucky gas, though I know you know that.

The ride went well, and I got my first glimpse of DS' amazed face. The face that he would use for almost every single ride, a face so filled with awe and wonder I wish I could capture it, bottle it, and keep it with me forever. Half the time on rides or at shows, I would watch him instead of the ride. Because that face is priceless, friends, and it doesn't last forever.

:goodvibes

DS discovered the dump shop. And the huge display of candy. And when told he couldn't have any, he had a bloody fit!

Dear LORD I hope those ring pops I gave him didn't cause you any additional agony. I had NO idea!!!

Just a quiet, silent cry, looking over the World Showcase lagoon.

:sad1:

In Japan, we browsed, because we really love that store. Even though everything is SO expensive.

Um. Yeah. They have $40 of Tink's she'll never see again. ;)

I had the pleasure of watching someone pick a pearl.

::ahem::

Too bad you didn't watch Tink pick a pearl.
Not that she did.
Or did she?

;)

We completely avoided the back room. You know the one I'm talking about? The one full of candy? Yup.

Oh. You mean the one where I bought my favoritest strawberry candy ever? ::yes:: And where they keep all that sake you can try for $5 a cup? And where, for the first time in your life you can taste what a wine-pickled Japanese plum tastes like? I know EXACTLY what room you're talking about. :thumbsup2

Of course, I was not surpised to note I was sporting some fairly decent cleavage in that photo as well. Which really leads me to wonder about DH's intentions. :lmao:

Men.

The Monkey.

I couldn't be any less surprised. LOL

It's not that bad. Honestly, I didn't see the problem with it. It's meant to be a cleanser, something you drink in between courses to get your palette ready for the next thing. Taken in that light, I think it's actually...sort of...good.

Proving we are a little bit weird.

Now. Wait. We ARE discussing the BEVERLY right??? I made Missy try it. THAT photo is priceless. But then I tried it too. And have discovered something CRUCIAL.

It's not the taste.

It's the AFTERTASTE.

No wonder it's a "palate cleanser". Your taste buds up and leave your mouth in protest after a sip of that!

So what do you do in Epcot when your toddler is sleeping?

Oh so many answers.
Oh how not many are appropriate.
LOL
Kidding!

All.
Caught.
Up.

I thought for sure the ticking time bomb was of the intestinal variety. I was positive we were headed for a post-Teppanyaki type explosion. But I have been DENIED! No #4 for me! Now, I'm saddest ever.

Here's the thing about kids going monkey-ape in Disney World and the idiot oblivions who scorn you with their eyes.

Pee on 'em!

That's right. Pee all on 'em!

Unless your name is Mary or Joseph and you lived 2000 years ago, your child has melted down at some point. Every kid melts. Not always at Disney. But somewhere, sometime. They're kids. I'm not saying I like to see it or listen to it when I see it happening, but I undertand it's going to happen. More so at Disney World. The only thing I look for is to see whether Mom and Dad are on top of it. You know, offering bribes or threats.

So I have abandoned any sense of embarassment when my sweet little angels act like turkeys. We deal with the crisis and dare anyone to criticize us for having normal children. You best believe they'll get a face full of ZZUB if they do.

:moped:

Ok. So I know quoting someone other than the OP on a TR is, like, a cardinal sin but Z - this made me snort-laugh so hard I choked and swallowed my gum.

Thanks for that, by the way.

YUM...Margaritas!

What I wouldn't give for one right now...

even though it's 7:23 am on a Saturday.

I mean, it must be five o'clock somewhere.;)

Your pics are great!

Thank you! :goodvibes

I am really glad things are starting to get better after the BOOM. It sounds like you and DH were getting a system that worked for you and little nugget. The description of the picture your DH took made me laugh hysterically. Men. Pfffft. :goodvibes

I just don't think they could have gotten worse. We'd both hit our own individual walls, and had to move forward, you know?

That is a really good picture of the totem pole! Much better than any that I got.

If you'd like, I can e-mail you the totem pole picture.

I'm curious about the turn down policy. Do you need to arrange for that ahead of time, or when you get there? I think I could use with a little spoiling like that on my next trip!

When we checked in and got our room, I just called down and requested it for the duration of our stay.:thumbsup2

Seriously?

11 pages?

Already???

::yes::

Woman! Pirate!

pirate:

::sigh::

I'm schlepping back to page 1 to catch up. "See ya real soon!"

:moped:

:yay:

TOTALLY reminded me to tell you, since I didn't in my response to your e-mails that yes the color I had on is still available and it's called "And This Little Piggy" by O.P.I.

Thanks! I really liked that color on you, and never mentioned it that night. :thumbsup2

Really? I keep hearing him say, "They my new best friends." :goodvibes

Sure, sure, bribe him with candy and of course he'll say that. ;)

Sound like both our parties found out exactly what types of contortions can be performed in the 4 square inches of those bathrooms!

Ugh. I'm glad I had my issues and not yours. ;)

This makes me wish we'd all ridden the elevator together!

There's always next year! :goodvibes

But that's ok! That means you now have a free ticket to do the same in the future! I'd use it when DS asks you, "Mama, can I borrow the car?" ::yes::

"Sure, take your father's." :rotfl2:

I'm so conceited. The first few times I read this I saw "Tink, tink, tink..." :rotfl:

:rotfl2:

Didn't you know? Real soda tastes 500% better on vacation! Trust me. I was doing it too!

It so does. And I never drink it at home.

Ok.
So I might be able to think of a string of words that do include Dole Whip but are decidedly, um, different that, to yours truly, would be the best words ever, but this is the DISboards and I like being able to post here. So I shall refrain. ;)

If those words that you cannot post that I think you're thinking somehow involve the inclusion of a certain devastatingly attractive, witty Captain Jack Sparrow, then we're of a like mind my dear.

And yes, let's not get banned.:thumbsup2

I'm so happy to know what goes above the shoulders. :goodvibes

Yes, no more odd jokes about similarities to the Horseman.:lmao:

So, in other words, DH was moonlighting as your "Food Genie" on this trip, it seems.

Honestly, I could have easily called this trip report, how many ways did TK's DH spoil her in the World...but I liked A Pirate's Life for Three better.

Weird, funky, DISNEY! thing in common #8,629b.

Wasn't it a nice way to enjoy your morning?

Well, better other children then other women. ;)
Though, if they did I could see why. Your DH is a treasure. You are a lucky, lucky gas, though I know you know that.

The other women came later. Mostly at the Halloween Party. When DH was in costume. You know. You've seen.

And thank you. I am a lucky gal. Love the typo! Almost as good as the Princess Bridge. ;)

Dear LORD I hope those ring pops I gave him didn't cause you any additional agony. I had NO idea!!!

Actually, not at all. Because the introduction of the ring pop, if you recall, was after he'd eaten almost all of his beautiful appetizer plate, so he had real food in his belly. It's not that I have a problem with candy, per say. I have a problem with candy when he won't eat anything else. Since he'd consumed a fine portion of cheese, fruit, and crackers, I was feeling good.

I swear, Tink, and I'm probably revealing to much, but I don't care, that was one of the best meals he ate on the whole trip, in the regard that he actually consumed a large portion of his dinner. And now we know the secret to dining with my nugget. Signature restaurants. Upgrade to deluxe for next year, anyone? :lmao:

Too bad you didn't watch Tink pick a pearl.
Not that she did.
Or did she?

;)

Oooo, how exciting.

Now.

There's an aftertaste?

I must be weird.

Or another plausible explanation is that I had such a fantastic buzz from my one margarita, my tastebuds were pleasantly numbed and didn't notice.:rolleyes1

I thought for sure the ticking time bomb was of the intestinal variety. I was positive we were headed for a post-Teppanyaki type explosion. But I have been DENIED! No #4 for me! Now, I'm saddest ever.

Listen, ZZUB, before you hit unsubscribe, I have one thing to tell you. I'm sure it hasn't escaped your attention that I am the only female member of this family. The little triumverate, as it were.

I'm fairly certain, being of the male gender yourself, and given that I have read all of your trip reports and feel I have at least somewhat of a handle on your propensity towards bodily functions of a disturbing nature, that you must certainly, undboutedly know that there will be some gross humor coming your way.

I can't say when.

Or where.

But it happens.

Here's the thing about kids going monkey-ape in Disney World and the idiot oblivions who scorn you with their eyes.

Pee on 'em!

That's right. Pee all on 'em!

Thank you. Thank you, very much. The next time he has a meltdown in the World...and we all know there will be a next time, eh...I'm going to keep this in mind.:goodvibes

So after partaking in Beverly, which I still maintain my stance on, we headed over to Innoventions West with the goal of passing naptime in a blessedly air conditioned environment. And suddenly, it hit me. Like divine inspiration.

A touch of destiny, if you will.

Just because the boy didn't like characters, didn't mean we couldn't enjoy them while he was asleep! Oh yes, my friends. So I got in line with DS sleeping in his stroller, and proceeded to wait patiently for the Disney Visa Meet N Greet. As per usual, I made friends with couple behind me in line. I've read this on so many trip reports, and it's true. Something about Disney just brings out the ability to talk to complete strangers. Because let's face it, folks. We're all there for essentially the same reasons. Spending time with friends and family in one of the most desirable locations I can think of.

They were very nice, and I don't remember their names, but they were from Atlanta. They were the second couple that we met with a three year old boy. He was awake, and so darn cute. He had a Pluto plush, and was excited, he had done well with the characters, even though his parents weren't sure what to expect. It was his first trip. That's such a great feeling. The first time you bring your child to Disney. Life really comes full circle.:goodvibes

We had a light discussion about being "those parents." Glad to know I wasn't the only one! :lmao: Now at this point, I was really feeling good. I'd had a margarita, I was loving the glorious air conditioning, and I was going to get some great one on one character interaction. I let DH blow off some steam playing video games while we waited, but soon enough, it was our turn! I had to call him on his cell several times before he took me seriously that we were really next.:lmao:

Boys and their video games, eh?

When he got to the line, everyone teased him about being late, it was a fun crowd. We were allowed in, and what to our wondering eyes did appear?

Mickey and Pluto!!!! :yay:

I was excited, folks. I mean, I know I don't share photos of myself completely, but if you could see the look on my face, in my eyes, I was like a kid in a candy store...ahem.;)

Honestly, half the time around characters, I totally regressed to childhood. My level of excitement couldn't be contained. I was in Disney, it was a Pirate's Life for Three, and life was good.::yes::

So we had some hugs, some laughs, some photos, and not just with us. Mickey and Pluto made a big show of tip-toeing over to DS' stroller and did some photos with him as well. In one, Mickey is holding his finger to his lips, as if to say shh, and Pluto is pretending to suck his thumb. Paw. You get the idea. I threw off a comment to DH about those possibly being the ONLY pictures of DS with characters on this trip.:lmao:

It was our time to leave, and we parted with fond goodbyes. We'd be seeing them again, after all.:thumbsup2

Since DS was still sleeping, DH wanted to play some more video games, which was fine by me, because it meant I got to stay in the air conditioning. I took DS with me, grabbed a prime bench in an off to the side spot, and sat to read the Imagineering Guide to the Magic Kingdom. I did get some interesting looks as I was off in my little corner. But there were some other people like me.

People who would sit for a spell and just relax. People who were enjoying their vacation just as much as I was.

Every now and then, I would look up from my book, and soak it all in. Just being there.

It was my happy place again.

Up next - Did I fall asleep on a bench in Epcot?

You are me. I am you. SO alike. In so many ways... I wish you could've seen me with the characters!!

*sigh*

Life is good...

Well DID you???!!! Yeesh, I hate cliffhangers! :headache:

Just kidding...but I really can't wait for more!!

Great update! It sounds perfect... definitely some divine inspiration to leverage naptime!! :goodvibes I am SUCH a kid when it comes to the characters. :) And thank you for reminding me about the Visa meet and greet. I had forgotten all about it! Are the details on the Visa site? I will have to go check it out. And if you have to wait in line -- to do it after a margarita and in air conditioning sounds like the way to go!! :thumbsup2

It's on my list this trip to actually make it to the Visa meet and greet so we can get a couple of free pictures.....we seem to forget about it every time :headache:

What magical moments! You got to meet Pluto and Mickey (I bet all those photos are awesome), and you got to sit and relax in Innoventions. Those are the times you will remember when you start missing Walt Disney World! :goodvibes

I love making friends with the people in line! I also love that Disney is the only place where I make friends with complete strangers, just makes Disney even more magical.

I am so glad you got to have your character fun while DS napped. Has he seen those pictures of him napping yet with Mickey and Pluto?

Aww, too bad we had such a quick meet! I think next time we need to spend some time together in the World.

There will be a next time, right? :goodvibes

I'm pretty sure that you can find details on the Disney Visa Rewards site, but I can happily tell you it's daily from 130-430pm in Innoventions West. You'll need to present your Visa card as proof. You can do it more than once during your stay, but it is limited to once per day.

HTH! :goodvibes

I got a great photo, but I'm not revealing what it is until later. :thumbsup2

I do think about that often. Especially since we'd have such a rough morning, I reflect on that particular day a lot. We made some great memories.

I am so glad you got to have your character fun while DS napped. Has he seen those pictures of him napping yet with Mickey and Pluto?

Actually, no. He hasn't seen any of the photos yet, but I do plan on it soon.:thumbsup2

It's SO DARN CUTE that Mickey and Pluto snuck (sneaked?) in some photos with your DS!!!

Your air conditioned moment of relaxation on the bench sounds wonderful. :cloud9:

It's funny, I was having so much fun with them, I never expected them to include him as well, but they did. Very, very nice.

Your air conditioned moment of relaxation on the bench sounds wonderful. :cloud9:

It was lovely. I can still picture it in my head perfectly.

Sounds SO wonderful TK!!! I am so glad that things really turned around for you all!!! I bet those pictures are priceless!!!!
