Hi everyone!
My DH and I and our 3 DS's just got back from a week at Disney and we took the tour and decided to give ourselves a really nice Christmas present this year. I am soooooooo excited!!! We will be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary in July (4th of July weekend) and I would love to hear opinions on staying at that time of year. We usually stay the first 2 weeks of December. I know it is very hot and crowded in July. Are we crazy for even thinking about it? We don't really know what to expect then and sure would appreciate anyone's input.
Thanks guys!

Welcome Home to a fellow "upstate" New Yorker.

You will get many opinions on going in July. We used to go in July often. During the heat of the day, we would go back to the hotel and enjoy the pool. With you owning at the BCV, that won't be hard to do. We would go out early, come back for the whole afternoon then head back out to the parks in the evening. They are usually open quite late in the summer so you can avoid that mid day heat and crowds easily. (It also beats the 2 feet of snow that you probably came home to this week).

We love the summer at Disney but you will hear opinions to the contrary.

Have fun.

Welcome home!

We have made eight trips during the summer months of June, July and August. July 4th is one of the nightmare on mainstreet periods at WDW.

Our strategy has been to use early entry and return to the resort at lunchtime to rest and swim in the afternoon. SAB is possibly the best resort pool on property. Then back to the parks for evening activities. They stay open late in the summer.

It is very hot and humid this time of year. Afternoon rain is common. Have plenty of sunscreen and a hat, a poncho or umbrella and water to keep hydrated.

Don't forget to use FastPass to curb line waiting. Be sure to tell the CM at MS that you are celebrating your 15th anniversary.

We'd never taken a summer trip to WDW (swore I wouldn't since I hate heat) until a few years ago-I'm a teacher and now we have to. I've found it's a great way to "get in the DVC swing of things"-slower, relax, DH calls it "mosey mode". Don't go so much as a theme park comando-so what if you sit around the lobby in the air conditioning. DVC resorts are so beautiful! So what if you swim all afternoon or just laze around the pool? I've learned that WDW is enjoyable any time of year if you approach it right.
Have fun-and Welcome Home! You'll love BCV.

Congratulations and welcome home!

Congratulations and welcome home. We usually go in August. Just don't expect to spend the whole day at the park. Morning and evening should be "okay".

We have gone in July and August in the past when it was a must for kids schooling etc. Now that they are well grown, and we are on our own, we wouldn't consider going at that time of year. It is sooooooooo hot and humid and the parks are packed and the pools are packed too. We go in Sept when kids are back in school and the points are much lower. It is still hot but since we take a leisurly pace and the lines are non-existant we have a good time. We bought annual passes so we come and go into the parks as we wish. Sometimes the only time we go into the parks is to eat lunch or dinner. August can be fun if you do as the teacher said previously. Do the resort kind of things, new restaurants, boating, pool hopping, spa-ing, visit other resorts etc.
In any case, Welcome Home, and enjoy your 15th anniversary.

Welcome home
We've been in July and it is very crowded. Keep in mind that our summer is S. Americas winter and WDW gets lots of tourists from that region.
