:cool1: Last spring I got a mailing from WDW about their YES programs.
My 'slackers' (kids who hang out in my room at school :teacher: ) convinced me to begin planning a trip. They got really excited (of course!). I checked some pricing out, and kind of decided that it would be too expensive. DH wasn't really on board, either  I hoped the kids would forget by September.

Well, this summer we had a 500 year flood in our school district. Over 150 kids were displaced. ALL my slackers did HOURS of volunteer work, helping to rebuild homes. When one of my boys came in to school and said that the only thing that kept him going was our Disney trip in the spring, and that he kept thinking as he ripped out wallboard, "I wonder what Mr. and Mrs. are doing in WDW right now?" my heart about broke.

So now we're going to Disney!!!!!!! :cool1: :yay: :wizard: came our way, and we're selling a house, so we can afford to take our two and one other boy who could never afford to go! :yay:

We weren't going back until August 08 with some friends who've never been, but now we can go in March!! We're waiting for the superintendent to sign off, but I think it'll be ok!

So all you folks who'd never take your kids out of school, I'm taking myself, DH :teacher: , my K and 4th grader, and 10 seniors out of school for 3 days to go to WDW. Got my flame suit on!

No flames here you go girl.

I am just happy for you that you are going.

Also pretty wonderful of you to take the extras. Have a wonderful time. Deb

I think that is great. What is the YES program? I know you guys will have a great trip. I have 'slackers' in my room daily as well. It makes for an interesting morning. I call it my getting to know you time. Again have a good one.

You are awesome!!! I'm smiling so big right now! Take those kids and have a blast!

I think that is wonderful and extremely brave of you..LOL My DH is a coach at the high school here and I would LOVE to take the kids somewhere like this because they are all such good kids, but we have asked to do so many little things and the principal has told us no, so I am not thinking they would let us do this either. I think it would be so much fun and I envy you for getting to go!!! LOL

HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME!!!

Thanks guys for the positive energy! The YES programs are Youth Education Series. This is how the cheerleaders, athletes, dancers, band members, etc. all go for a discounted rate. For about $150 my kids have admission to the disney parks (hopping) and 2 career-oriented programs (Marine Biologist and Keepers at AK) run by disney. For every student package we buy we can buy a guest package for the same price. One chaperone is free for every 5 students, and you must have a minimum of 10 students participate. So, DD and DS are going as guest, at guest pricing, DH and I are chaperones (we teach bio at the same high school), and we're renting a 15 passenger van. We're dividing all expenses by 12. I've sent in my application, a great Dis friend has offered us terrific housing at a cut rate price... Now if the superintendent would just say yes, we'd be all set!!!
