This is a coaster I thought I'd never ride. I saw it being built when we went in October 2020. But we went to Florida because California was stupidly locked up tight last year. I didn't think I'd ever return. Scratch that! We spilt a one week stay with WDW (getting 3 nights) and Cabana Bay (4 nights). Universal was EPIC. But that's a different post.
The first thing we hit was Velocicoaster. We got there about 8:45, so about 15 minutes before the non-resort guests hit. The line said 60 minutes. We'd commit...and only waited 25 minutes. In fact, every time we rode it, the line was 25-30 minutes, even when it said it was 45-70 minutes long. If the line started right at the entry gate, and there were 3 "raptors in the paddock", it was half an hour or less.
It's hard to explain why it's so awesome. It just is. I thought that nothing could be better than Hagrid's. NOTHING! Wrong. So wrong! We ended up riding it 5 times during the trip, including the last ride we went on before we headed for the airport. The acceleration is beyond belief. The twist over the water that everyone has seen on video is thrilling. And the way the tall loop shoots you up and then down is amazing. The pre-show queue is fun with Pratt.
After doing the new Avatar ride at Animal Kingdom, I thought that would be the one we would talk about the whole way home. But it was definitely Velocicoaster.
You NEED to ride this!
