yikes! I blew it! visa rewards question

So, I completely forgot to order my disney visa rewards redemption card, and now it's time to pay for our trip. There's quite a bit of "money" there - more than I want to just use for souvenirs on our trip. Is there any way I can pay for the trip now so as to not lose the reservation, then somehow get those rewards points on and get my money back? I know it sounds crazy. I am just sick about this. The rewards points were part of the reason we would be able to go and I have messed this up big time.

I don't think they will cancel your reservation until you are only 30 days out, but I don't know if you can get the card within 15 days. You can save a little money by downgrading your tix to the minimum possible for your package (1-day tix for reg packages and 2-day tix for FD packages) and then using your points to upgrade them later. Also, if you have PH and/or WP&M, take those off for now, too.

See? This is why I love the DIS. Downgrading will really help. I've got the card ordered now, and it's estimated arrival will be before I hit the 30 day mark. Should I call disney and talk to them about it?

Edited to add: sorry if I'm not making sense- we've been dealing with a wicked cold at my house and I keep saying really stupid stuff that dh doesn't understand.

I would call to be on the safe side. Hopefully, your card will show up as scheduled and you won't have to deal with downgrading/upgrading later.

You can also get a redemption card on site if that's an option now that you know you can drop your tickets down to a bare minimum. I've not had to do it, but I'm told it only takes a few minutes.

I forgot to order my card too before paying. CM told me that you can apply the card to your reservation anytime before you get there and they will credit your credit card for the amount of the rewards card. Hope that helps.

Me too. I don't need the card until October, so I only put $25 on it. That way, after my statement closes the end of September I can add the rest of my dollars to the card.

I did that last time. I paid with my credit card and then called them when I got it and they used the points and credited my card back.
