Hi,
I was wondering what people's experience has been with bringing in to the parks a large metal yeti and backpacks with a lot of zipper compartments. Do they allow metal yeti for cold water and do they still make you open every zipper compartment to go through security? Any advice or suggestions is appreciated! We intend to walk to the Magic Kingdom from the GF and use Uber for the other parks.

I don’t have a Yeti bottle, but we’ve carried our Hydroflasks many times with no issue. (I assume you mean the bottle—I wouldn’t trust the cup lids to stay on in a bag.

My son brings in a Yeti bottle with no problem. You do have to take it out of your backpack and hold it in front of you. But other than that - no problem.

Basically take out any large metal objects - umbrella, metal water bottles, some portable chargers (though my charger went through just fine in my backpack) and hold them in front of you. You should just be able to walk right through the scanners without issue. Sometimes they do get tripped up - but we've not had a problem. I love the new system! It's so much better than before.

We just got back yesterday. We take a large yeti water bottle into the parks and never had any issues. I didn't even take it out of the backpack. Just walked straight through the metal detector.

Why the detectors pick up on an umbrella and not the giant stainless steel yeti I don't know but whatever.

No more stopping to open/unzip unless you set something off. As mentioned above, the best way to not set it off is to take out any umbrellas, portable chargers and metal water bottles and hold them up in front of you. We did this and never got stopped at any park.
