Hi Marsh! Merry Christmas if I don't get to chat again !! I'll be looking for your next update !! I'm going twice in2009 !!With luck I will be posting pix by then !! I have figured it out from a cd to photobucket so have to find time to go get them put on cds and then I will be able to post pix !!

Hi Marsha

What do you think is the most comfortable bar in WDW is? I enjoy having a cocktail or two at the end of the evening and am not interested in loud entertainment.

Great review... I love all the drinks.. I need to drink more on my next trip. And, I really didn't know you could substitute coconut liquor for others. I'm allergic to coconut and I never had School house bread either. Thanks for sharing...

merry merry to you too! when are you going in 2009? i'm definitely in march, maybe sept/oct or so also. can't wait to see your reviews and pics!

Hi Marsha

hmm...most comfortable bar. let's see. i enjoyed mizner's at the grand floridian actually, for quiet and comfy. me and my mom made that one of our stops on our trip around the monorail back in aug 2007. of course, my fav is the tune in, but that's kinda rambunctious. victoria falls at the AKL was really nice too. i'm sure the various lounges around the resorts all fit that bill. but not the tambu lounge, as it's right by ohana and all that noise. um, i hope that helps a bit!

Ok caught up over here too!

Now I have to try that cobb salad!!!!!

woo hoo! thanks for finding me! and yes, you *must* try it. so so wonderful!

oh yes, definitely ask about subbing the coconut stuff! disney really likes to go out of their way to help you, especially with an allergy involved. hope this helps you get to enjoy more cocktails! :woohoo:

ok people, so it's my first day off work in about a week, so i have a bit of time, and i'm about to do my rose & crown review. coming soooooon!

Rose & Crown, lunch, 11.15.08

Originally, I had planned to spend this whole day at Animal Kingdom, so I didn't have an ADR for lunch, as I just planned to head over to Flame Tree or Pizzafari. Well, I decided I was done with AK around 11:30, and wanted to head over to Epcot to see some Off Kilter instead. So, on my way over, I made a call to Disney Dining and got a 12:20pm ADR for Rose & Crown. Perfect! Got to R&C around 12:10 and was seated a few minutes later.

I had a really hard time deciding what to eat here. I was thinking maybe the soup, maybe the samosas, salad, cheese plate? I really just did *not* know what to do. I thought about having a few appys and dessert, but the appys I was interested in apparently were spicy, and I didn't feel like it.

Well anyway, my first priority was to get a drink. Normally, I go with the Welsh Dragon here, but I thought I'd try the English Rose instead, as I had read some reviews on here about it. It was okay. A bit sweeter than I'd prefer, but it was okay. (Beefeater Gin, Apricot Brandy, Vermouth, Pineapple Juice, Orange Juice and Cranberry Juice)
pic119.jpg

I was also brought some rolls and butter. Don't think I ate any of them.
pic121.jpg

I've had the cheese plate in the past, and so I decided to go with that again. It wasn't as good as I remembered, and I kinda regretted getting it.
pic122.jpg

Then I ordered the Indian-spiced Chicken Salad - Mixed Greens, Carmelized Onions with Shallott Vinaigrette topped with a Cucumber-Yogurt Drizzle. I should have known I wouldn't be thrilled with this, as "Indian-spiced" should have tipped me off that it would be spicy. Oh well.
pic123.jpg

So yeah, neither of those really thrilled me. I was a bit disappointed, but not in the restaurant, in myself for not going for my first instincts. I should know better. Should have just gotten the samosas and the potato leek soup. That probably would've gone over better. But oh well, I know for next time.

Oh yes, so I decided that I had to get dessert, since I had heard such great things about the Sticky Toffee Pudding. I also ordered an after dinner coffee beverage, I think it was Bailey's in coffee with whipped cream. It was very good.
pic124.jpg

The sticky toffee pudding on the other hand, I wasn't thrilled with. I guess I expected it to be more moist, it seemed kinda dry to me. I ate the moist-ish areas, and left the rest.
pic125.jpg

So yeah, overall, I wasn't thrilled with this meal. But really, I blamed it on myself. I love this place and will definitely be back, but I will just make smarter decisions on what to order. Who knows what I was thinking. But yeah, don't base your decision on Rose & Crown on this review, please! Like I said, I've been there before, and I will surely return :thumbsup2

next up: a few drinks, and no dinner IIRC (stay tuned to the regular trippie for details as to why!!!)

pic125.jpg
We had this over Thanksgiving and I agree it was dry. Nothing really exciting. I was a bit disappointed with Rose and Crown this time around and I can't quite put my finger on it. It wasn't as good as our 1st trip there.

Love your reviews! I agree with you, sticky toffee pudding is  .. well, I've had better desserts!

I look forward to reading more! :goodvibes

I have yet to try it !! I know English Rose and not tried the Rose& Crown!!!
I have been to Raglan Road and liked that and plan a repeat next year !! I am going solo in May and with the family inSept tentaviley Sept 12th thru 20th .
In 2010 I am torn between Fockerfest in Aug ( kinda hot)and Dec.for the Christmas season, but Oct sounds nice too

Le Vins des Chefs de France, alcohol, 11.15.08

After lunch at Rose and Crown, I just wanted to wander around World Showcase and get some yummy drinks. So my first stop was France, seeing as it was right next door! Can you guess what I got? Grey Goose Slushie, of course! I didn't take a picture, as I have millions, but here's a previous shot, just to keep your eyes happy :cool1:
pic055.jpg

It was delicious, as usual.

Joy of Tea Stand, alcohol, 11.15.08

At some point, I know I stopped here, as I have a picture of the Peach Oolong Tea Schnapps Slush. Yum yum. Although, I think I enjoy it better on a really hot day, since I found it to be really cold. Who knows, maybe my mouth is just really sensitive, but I kept getting head freezes! This I do not enjoy. But the drink itself is nice and yummy.
pic138.jpg

Rose & Crown Pub, alcohol, 11.15.08

This was an afternoon spent with Off Kilter, so I made quite a few trips before and/or between shows to the Pub for some Welsh Dragons. Didn't take a picture of the first couple, but on my last trip, I decided that this weak Epcot alcohol was not cutting it. So I ordered a shot of Jameson along with my last Welsh Dragon.
pic179.jpg

See, I hate whiskey. But it's a shot I always do with a couple of my friends back home. So yeah, I figured it might help me along :rolleyes1 . Anyway, there was a nice couple there who noticed me taking pics, and got these of me with my shot
pic180.jpg

pic181.jpg

And my classic "Jameson face" that I make every single time I take this shot. Haha, good times!
pic182.jpg

Oh hey, so I just noticed another food pic! I was supposed to go to Boma for dinner this night, but well, I got dreamed instead! Got an extra hour in the park after it closed. So yeah, that was way better than Boma! (you can read about the dream hour and how I won later in my regular trippie, haven't gotten that far yet!) Anyway, so I stopped by Morocco for some food instead.

Tangeriene Cafe, dinner, 11.15.08

Right, so I needed some food. And I wanted something quick and easy. So I stopped in Morocco to get some yummies. I ordered the Vegetarian Platter, but got double hummus instead of olives, because I do not like olives. And I asked if I could have pita bread instead of the roll of bread they normally give you. Definitely ask for the pita, it's much superior to the bread. And also more authentic. From top left, around clockwise, it's lentil salad, 2 scoops of hummus, tabbouleh, and couscous salad. Love this stuff!
pic216.jpg

ok, i may do another installment later, seeing as i have nothing better to do on this christmas day! ha!

next up: lunch @Columbia Harbour House
