You know I try to make humane, sustainable, eco friendly choices. But I have never been a fan of Greenpeace, or SeaShepard or PETA. I find any form of extremism distasteful, even when it's for a good cause. But I tend to take a stance of "I'm responsible for my choices and others have to make their own". However if someone had handed that to my young child without my permission I would seriously consider throwing a punch. You don't target kids, not like this.

I wrote them a email on thier site letting them know how disgusting I found this campaign and how they had lowered themselves below the level of the very people they campaign against. I was just so mad when I read it.

I am all for the humane and ethical treatment of animals, but I do not support PETA.

PETA needs to leave the children out of this!!!!!!

I agree about PETA (but not Greenpeace! They are not even close to being in the same catagory as PETA!).

The worst thing you could have done is email them. Getting people's attention is exactly what they want and you showed them it works. I know it made you feel better to vent, but they got what they want. The best thing to do is ignore them and their tactics. Unless they have done something illegal - then I would contact someone.

ETA: I support many groups with the same concerns: animals, environment, social justice...but I do not support groups with these tactics.

It's up to the parents to educate their children according to their own beliefs..

I put PETA in the same classification as people who stand around holding up signs of aborted babies - for "shock" value.. They're nut cases - pure and simple.. If that is the only way to get ones "cause" across to others, they have already failed in their mission..

Okay I showed my 2 girls it.. they said they would laugh at it.. PETA are a bunch of freaks.

I am with you... But let me tell you, no one is handing my kid anything without me knowing what it is... Well, my son would probably laugh at them but... if someone handed this to him when he was younger they would get a punch in the chops - no question - they would eat their Mcwhatever - well, it is within their dietary guidelines. LOL:rotfl2:

What a bunch of extremist nuts - there are better ways of educating people instead of forcing it through shock factor.

Well I am a vegetarian ( aspiring vegan) who supports PETA and the Sea Shepards..........BUT big BUT................NO one better hand my kid something like that. ever. Period.

I am all for the parents being the ones to educate their kids. My kids are not completely vegetarians because their daddy isn't
so yes they do eat chicken. and yes i do allow them a happy meal once in awhile. I actually have more of an issue with the fat salt and calories of those happy meals than the fact that its a dead chicken. LOL

my reasons for being veg are more ecological than animal rights.

My kids know not to ever take anything from a stanger anyway, so they would probably just look to me to take what ever someone is trying to hand them. so it wouldn't work here.

oh and they do know the chicken nugget used to be a cool fun alive chicken like they see at my brothers house ( he has chickens for the eggs )
they don't seem bothered by it.

I am not pushy with my way of eating or thinking. :)

Ugh! I cannot stand PETA they annoy me so much. A few years ago I was a vegetarian and I went to PETA's website to get information on vegetarianism. They sent me so many letters or surveys for me to send to my government to ask them to stop being cruel to animals it got old fast. I don't like those people who kill the harp seals so I'm all for save the seals and I do love animals but I get tired of PETA because they act like everyone in the world has to be a vegetarian or vegan. And if you wear fur they are all over you. They are all about the animals (which is fine) but will bash you if you eat meat or wear fur or whatever. I think it's pointless when there is so many other things in the world going on and this is all they care about.

I agree..Let them do what they want but don't freaking tell me what to do with my family.

This really ticks me off. If someone handed that to my child I'd have a really hard time restraining myself.

Peta is nuts. They take everything to the extreme and make normal people not support what would be a good cause. No one approves of animal cruelty that I know of.

PETA's goal is simple - push people's buttons. They get people talking about their campaigns, get the media talking about how horrible they are and what bad decisions they make, get people talking about them everywhere. PETA is VERY successful with this. That would be hard to deny since just about everyone seems to know who they are.

Their goal is to spread awareness about animal cruelty and animal causes. Whether or not they are successful in this is somewhat subject to opinion. If they upset some people along the way, they really don't care.

Their belief is that if more people knew where their food REALLY came from, there would be more vegetarians and vegans in the world. They will shock and sicken people to try and just get them to think about it.

Just my $.02. This campaign seems to be generating the "buzz" they love.

For several years every few months I would receive a "survey" from PETA with all the questions very emotionally loaded you you would answer them the way they wanted. They would also attach a nicle "for your time" but suggest you return it with more of a contribution.

Their biggest mistakes were including a business reply envelope and not really paying attention to the survey answers. I would answer all the questions the wrong way.

And at the last question (which they had marked "Yes") they asked for a donation. I crossed it off, added and marked a "No" block, and thanked them for their contribution to my wife's fund for purchase of a fur coat. And returned the "survey" without the nickle, in their own busines reply envelope so they had to pay the firsat class return postage plus the BRE fee.

What surprised me most was it took over five years of doing this to finally get off their mailing list.

They are petty criminals, vandals and fraudsters and nothing more. Its not just spreading the word when they keep the details of their own operations secret. I do tax returns and I cannot tell you how many times a senior has brought in a donation receipt from PETA, which misleadingly makes it look eligible for the donation tax credit.

PETA also sent unsolicited pornography to the houses of everyone in my community. Even the convent was greated by a naked picture of Pamela Anderson when they opened up their mail box. Do you think the nuns were encouraged to buy soy instead of beef by Pamela's naked body?

My physio let me know that PETA had set up programs at her daughters high school. I printed her out a lengthy list of PETA's criminal activity and a copy of the X-Rated mailing they had sent me. PETA didn't get a chance to "spread awareness" as you say, they were quickly led to the exit.

Does anyone actually take PETA seriously? Are they even aware of how they are regarded? They're just a bunch of loons and these types of campaigns do more harm than good for their cause. It made me want a Big Mac.

They're usually pretty comical but this most recent stunt is not. I can't stand PETA.

:thumbsup2

I keep watching Whale Wars, hoping that one of those whaling ships will sink the terrorist vessel...

Whale Wars has nothing to do with green peace. Paul (the Capt.) started green peace but was kicked out by them. At least that's what I've gotten from the first season of Whale Wars... I could be wrong.

It made me think of the wacky packages stickers that came out when I was a kid....

When my kids were little I hesitated to tell them what ham was ...'cause i thought they would not want to eat it if they knew... they were like... its a pig...ok and kept eating...
I on the other hand do not like to think too much about it ... I don't even like to eat ham anymore after going to the
bodies" exhibit.... YUCH....

I have no problem with greenpeace... or peta...

Last time I went to the circus ..there were folks protesting outside.... kinda annoying... but I believe in free speech....:thumbsup2

I think peta targets kids and teens because they don't have that you know whats to say it to an adult
