While working on another picture post (which is going to have to wait until we can figure out why our internet is out at home  ) I started wondering something.

I'm looking at my HUGE backlog of pictures to put together, and realized that the reason I haven't shared most of these is because I've been trying to put them on fully designed websites rather than just throwing them onto a page, captioning them, and sharing them that way.

So, here's my question:

When it comes to pictures, would you rather just see the pictures as soon as you can, regardless of how they're displayed (even if it's just plain white background, no titles, no links, just pictures and captions), or would you rather wait for them to be presented in a website that can be bookmarked and stuff?

I've got one trip's worth of Colorado/4-corners pictures to share, one of our trip to WDW in Oct of 2001, and who knows how many Disneyland posts. And I don't think I ever shared the March 2001 pictures either, did I?

Rajah,

of course, I'm not sure my site rivals the extent of your site, but I post the pictures to my website without descriptions, although I suppose I could put captions on them - I'm just too lazy I suppose.

My Disney trip pages I have trip reports on and I wanted to wait until I had those completed, but people wanted to see the pictures anyway, so I just put the link out there for them to use, and I'll add the text when I can. It'll have to do.

I suppose it's really a matter of choice, do you want to put the stuff out there and then update it, or just do it all at one time. I guess I go either way, but if it were simply a matter of wanting to share the pictures, I don't think people really care about backgrounds and such...

I guess it depends.

If it is something obvious, then no captions are needed. Posting thumbnails that allow the person to click on the ones they are interested are nice.

If it is people and stuff who the viewers don't really know, then captions are very nice.

Needless to say, pictures of Dan Murphy would need no captions. ;)

Well, it doesn't take me long to throw pictures onto a page and add captions. It's when I try to make a whole website like those in my sig that it takes me forever.

So, that's what I'm wondering -- plain bare webpage with no background, no title, just pictures in a column with captions underneath, or wait for the website with menu buttons, better organization, the trip report, and so on along with the pictures? As well as links to some larger versions?
