DH and I just got back from our quick trip to WDW (wow, I had forgotten that July in WDW was like surface of the sun hot!). We had reservations for the special BLT party-thing (yes, that's the official name ;)) at 9am on Tuesday, but since we were only there for 4 days, and that was MK's extra magic hour morning, we didn't want to waste our morning so we canceled. Luckily the lure of free ice-cream and fast passes convinced my DH that we should do the regular DVC tour later that afternoon.

I was sure that we wouldn't buy in, but just wanted to see the models, learn a little more. DH had actually said a few weeks before we left that even though we were getting a profit check from his company this summer that "we are not buying a DVC with it." Little did he know what DVC puts in that ice cream :rotfl:. We met with Jenna, who we had talked to on the phone in the spring, and she was wonderful. We discussed BLT, AKV and GCal. We both knew we would buy in eventually, when we go to Disney 2-3 (possibly more this year) times per year, it just doesn't make sense to not own.

Then something came over us, the greed fairy. The incentives for GCal were almost $5000 off a 200 point purchase. DH works from home, but his company is in San Diego and they'll fly us out whenever we want so we thought, great we can book a few days at DL. Plus, only 50 rooms, high demand, can rent points for more if we need to. We slept on it and then it dawned on us, we only plan the CA trips a month or two in advance. Duh, 11 month home resort booking window won't do us much good, lol. So after closing the previous day, we went back today and resigned everything and are now the proud owners of 170 BLT points!!!!!! :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

I am just beyond pumped! We went back and forth between BLT and AKV, but in the end, the location just couldn't be beat, even by a set of 2008 points and more money off. When DH said he wanted to buy in yesterday, I went into the bathroom at the DVC office and did a happy dance, lol. I sure hope they don't have cameras in there!!! :rotfl2:

I never thought we'd buy into BLT, I had always assumed we'd buy a resale, BLT didn't even interest me until I saw the model. Thank you DVC disers for all your help and advice that I've found this last year!

Congrats!
How long does the DVC tour take? We are already members at BWV and BLT but are travelling with friends who want to take the tour in Oct, but I don't want to waste too much time....
Thanks, Murphyh

They say it only takes an hour, but I think it depends on how interested you actually are in buying in. We had a lot of questions, discussed a lot of options, did a lot of numbers, etc. I think the actual tour portion was maybe only 30 min or so. We were there for 4 hrs on Tues from beginning to signing the last document.

Welcome home neighbor!!! Congratulations!

BLT with it's location and the models hooked a lot of us newbies that weren't expecting to purchase.
