My daughter and I have a trip booked for the last week of Nov. our original plan was to arrive at MCO 9ish, DME handle our one checked bag and take us to our resort (PC) Everything was nailed down for MONTHS and now American Airlines changed our flight so now we arrive at 10:20. I'm certain we can easily make due for the first day with whatever's in our checked bags. I know the "cut-off" is 10pm but i'm wondering if DME will deliver it the next day rather than us waiting around baggage claim for it :hourglass. Thanks in advance!!!

I don't know. I would assume not, since no one would be there at 10:30 to pick up the bag from the claim, or to watch it overnight.:/

I don't know for sure though.

Since all Magical Express personnel will not be on hand that late, there would be no one to file a baggage claim should your bag be mishandled by your airline.

This would mean that you might miss out on compensation if the bag got lost.

When you go to the carousel to retrieve your bag and it is not there, file a baggage claim with your airline there before leaving the area.

Bags on the carousels for too long a time will be put in storage. This would be overnight for bags not claimed by a passenger who had dinner at the airport or otherwise took a long time to get them. Yellow tagged bags still found at the airport the next morning will be handled by DME normally.

Will a tagged bag be delivered the next day? Yes. But....if I arrived at 10:20pm, I would opt for leaving the tag off and just spending an addtl 15/20 mins and get my own checked bag. Then, bring it to the bus with you.
I hate the idea of my bag going around and around on that baggage carousel...available to anyone who might want to snatch it at the last minute. Baggage people will head to the baggage carousel after about 30-40 mins and pull any remaining bags off and put them in storage. So...your bag will be unattended for quite awhile.

We actually always pick up our own bags, ME or not.:)

For many of us, the luggage delivery is one of the best things about DME!! I pack anything I may need for the first day of my stay...and the night if arriving later in the day. Then, I don't have to worry about my checked bags.
But, there are still a lot of people who get their own bags and bring them to the bus. If enough guests do this, it does tend to slow down the process. Not so much at the airport but when you get to the resorts. It takes longer to get out those bags and now the driver is going to be looking for a tip..so they do things a little more slowly so that each guest has ample opportunity to hand over that all important $2-3. Drives me nuts.

I'm not sure which part of the "picking up own luggage" procedure exactly drives goofy4tink nuts, but I sincerely hope it's not that tipping anyone in the service industry who handle your luggage is customary :).

I know most people love it.:)

We just feel better grabbing our own, that way we know we have if when we need it.

We usually have a laptop as one of our carryons, so we are limited to one actual bag.

I actually only tipped our last trip...our driver looked very surprised and grateful!:)

Oh shush!!! You know that's not the case!!! But, when you have four families, with about 8 checked bags per family....well, you do the math. That's a ton of baggage to get out from under the bus. The only time it took me more than 70 mins, from gate to resort, was that time. We sat at the first two resorts, waiting, while the driver took the bags out and then handed them to each family. What normally takes about 4 mins, now took almost 10..times two!!! It took me 85 mins to get to Pop that one time!!! I was off that bus so fast you could barely see me!!!

No, I have no issue with tipping anyone. I do have a problem tipping someone who asks for that tip though. I have tipped DME drivers who haven't touched my bag. I have also not tipped a driver who did stow my bag beneath the bus. Why? He asked for that tip...stood at the front of the bus, prior to opening the doors, and said..'Gratuities are always welcome'. I mean really? There is signage right above the windshield, before you get off the bus, that says the exact same thing. I will not tip anyone who verbally asks for one.

Gotta agree with you there. The asking for a tip would have rubbed me the wrong way.

I had $3 in my hand, all ready to hand over. Went right back into my pocket!!!!
On the other hand....I had a driver who was courteous, welcomed everyone onto his bus. He stowed bags very quickly. When he got on the bus, he again welcomed everyone. He then, while safely driving, gave out the most interesting pieces of area info. He was soooo wonderful. As people got off the bus, he helped them, and thanked them for riding the DME bus. I had only a tote bag with me, so he never touched a piece of luggage for me, but he got $5 as I got off that bus. He was an incredible ambassador for DME and WDW!! Should be more like him. And...when he got that $5, he lit up like a Christmas tree. He was so grateful.
