Sorry guys!!

Our plane tickets arrived today (   ) and it got me to wondering whether the following are currently allowed in your hand luggage:

1. Biros
2. Pencils
3. Unopened bags of sweets and crisps
4. Home made sandwiches
5. Bottle of water (bought in the departure lounge after security)
5. Emery board (not a metal nail file or clippers)

Also do all electronics have to go in the hand luggage? Does this include the chargers as we have a LOT of them!

Hi Queenie,

I have found this on BAA website. Does it help with your questions?

If you are travelling to the USA: Extra restrictions are in place. Passengers will be subjected to secondary security searches at the gate. No toiletries or cosmetics purchased in the departure lounge will be allowed into the aircraft cabin and any drinks or liquid items must be consumed before boarding. Food, however, is allowed. Passengers boarding flights to the USA and items they are carrying, including those acquired after the central screening point, will be subjected to secondary search at the gate and any liquids discovered will be removed.

I would say the answer to your water question is no, you aren't allowed. Yours bsweets and crisps should be OK :)

Oh we put all of our electronics in checked (hold) luggage (we flew out literally days after the security measures came into place though); I haven't seen anything to say electronics cannot be carried in the hold* so your chargers should be fine :)

*Obviously for insurance purposes you would probably prefer to have cameras etc with you anyway
