Yet another great meal at V&A!! (long)

Wow! Brings back memories and my mouth is watering just reading your terrific review. MY DH and I dined at V & A's in November of 2002 - and it was such a memorable meal. Expensive yes- but the food is so well prepared and the atmosphere is so romantic it really is a once in a lifetime experience.

Thanks for bring me back to the magic for a few minutes :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

My wife and I just celebrated her Bday at V&A's on the 18th
Only our 3rd time. But this Is still the greatest meal of my life. Each time I go, i try something i normally wouldnt at, and am overwelmed how much I enjoy it. This time it was Corn and Clam soup. YUM..

And my wife and I always share the wine pairing, with our Dining experience Card, it comes out to 180ish for 2 Plus tip

The kobe shortribs were incredible.. I wanted 5 more courses of that alone!

Actually, had she not known it was Skate she would have thought it tasted like a "sweet" fish, or even Rockfish.
We did the Chef's Table a few years back--in fact, that's where we're at in our picture.
While a great time (and a LOT of food) I actually prefer the main dining room and it's relaxed ambiance.

Wow, you sold me! Thanks for the great review. No I need to try to make reservations in a few days for our 10th anniversary dinner in September. Do I need to call right at 7:00 am? Are resservations hard to get? And finally: Are there specific seating times?

Thanks for the help!

Carol

Depending on the night you want to go, You may be able to get it a month or 2 out, but if you know when you are going, no sence in waiting... Just to be on the safe side!
Last week, I booked V and A's 3 days out, and there were at least 3/4's of the tables empty that night ( it was a sunday)

No need to rush things but I agree that once you know when you want to go, then you may as well call. WDW-DINE won't be able to take reservations at V&A. Instead, you'll need to call 407-939-7707. If you do call WDW-DINE, they will just transfer the call.

They have 2 seatings--5:45 thru 6:30 (or 6:45) and another from 9:00 thru 9:45. The earlier seating is by far the more popular.

Uncleromulus-

Your review has convinced me to make a PS. DH and I had been debating whether it was really as good as everyone has said...as of now Califonia Grill is our favorite...but maybe that will change:cool: .

I had the skate about a month ago. It is very hard to describe. Sweet fish is close, but with no typical fish taste. maybe a little hint of a shellfish type taste. almost a lobster,or monkfish texture. hard to describe. But, very good.

my husband and i absolutely love v&a. we went there on our honeymoom and then our first anniversary. can't wait to go again. such an elegant experience. oh and i love the hawaiian kona chocolate souffle.

by the way, we had just vacationed out at the wilderness lodge and we bought a bottle of the iron horse fairytale cuvee (champagne) at the lodge mercantile. neat that they carried the champagne. not bad price. brings back memories.:D

What if one of your party is a very picky eater but wants to try V&A?

Is it a waste of money or can they be accomadated in some way?

We visited V & A during our trip in March. We tried to book the Chef's Table, but it was not available. When we made the reservation, we told the gal we would be interested in the Chef's Table should it become available. Our reservation was for a Monday night. She said they don't take wait lists, but would note our interest on our reservation.

When we checked into BWV, there was a message from V & A that the Chef's Table was available and we got it.

Loved every minute of the evening, even though the Chef was off but the Sous Chef was fantastic. We're going to try again for our December trip.

Good luck!

Mike, You could always ask them what the menu is going to be.

But If your picky eater likes fish, or meat, they can accomodate.

the food is so incredibly prepaared, just get them to try it.. they'll love it!

Mrmike:
True that they probably can accomodate a little with the fish/meat entrees. But mostly that'd mean leaving off any sauce, garnish, etc. And that still leaves several appetizers and soup to deal with. While a large part of the V&A experience is the service, ambiance etc, it's still a lot of $$$ to pay for a pretty small piece of plain fish, or meat.
However---
I should add that last year we went with two couples who are perfectly happy to eat at TGIF every week and who rave about the Baked Potato at the Outback. I was very afraid about how things would turn out, once they found out what I'd been telling them all along--that V&A didn't serve Cheesy Fries, Ribs, or Peel n' eat shrimp..or baked potatoes.
But guess what?? They LOVED V&A and were talking about it for days after they got back.
