Day 6 – Sunday, November 12th

Yes, we actually planned on going to MGM during Super Soap Weekend. But no, we’re NOT nuts. I’m a DIS-er, and the great DIS Gods have given me the inside scoop and told me that all those crazy soap fans aren’t at MGM to ride the rides or even see the shows….they are there to wait in line all day to get autographs and pictures and see interviews of their favorite ABC Soap Stars!! I’ll admit on those days that I’m home sick and am tired of watching movies on TBS, that I’ll turn on a soap or two…and only ABC soaps because I have friends and family that watch them. Just in case I get sucked in and end up addicted, I want to be able to talk to someone about them!. :rotfl: Anyway, what I’m getting at is, I know a few of the stars that are supposed to be there, so I secretly would’ve been happy if I got to see a few!

We arrived at MGM around 8:30am and walked right through the gates with no waiting at all! We went to see the Voyage of the Little Mermaid (DS is still afraid of this one) and then immediately hit Playhouse Disney – Live on Stage. This show is bittersweet for me. I don’t think I mentioned it before, but this is DD’s 6th trip to WDW. She’s done this show just about every trip (and DS joined in once he came along). I have always loved this show because it gets my kids SO excited and it’s very interactive. They sing along, they dance, they shake their booties with the rest of them. We have Playhouse Disney on in the mornings in our house because I’m not quite ready to give it up yet. I’d miss JoJo, the Wiggles and yes, even the DoodleBops. Sorry, back to the trip report…On this trip, DD decided that she was too OLD to dance along at a preschool show. It seriously broke my heart. DS got up there and did his thing, and DD sat there on her daddy’s lap and watched. She did stand up, I think when the bubbles came down, but she wouldn’t dance. Yes, it’s time I admit to myself that my little girl isn’t such a little girl anymore.

After this heart-wrenching show, we made our way to the 11 o’clock show of Beauty and the Beast. We parked the stroller along the curb, since so many others had done the same and we made our way in. We got GREAT seats way in the front (maybe the 5th or 6th row) and we were all ready for the pre-show. I believe they’re called 5 for $1. Um, we’re waiting….and waiting. They didn’t come out !?!?!? Anyone have any info on this? Another blow to my already wounded heart. Those guys were great. OK, anyway, this show just blows us away. We love it and I could seriously see it over and over again and not catch everything that is going on. So much on the stage in some of the scenes I find myself scanning side to side the whole time. Here are a few pics:

We left the show and noticed that there are now NO strollers along the curb. I ask a CM and she tells us that the stroller parking is now one street down. We head that way & see a bunch of them. Tons of them, as a matter of fact. But not ours. Ours is gone. And the only thing we left in the stroller (thank goodness) were 2 pictures that DD had received as a gift from the CM checking us in for the 2nd time at OKW. He had asked who her favorite characters were, and she told him Jasmine and Minnie. (DS was asleep at the time) He gave her two 5x7 pictures of them in the MK and told her to take them to the park to have them autographed. Unfortunately now, they are gone. I scanned double strollers for the rest of the day to find that envelope of pictures, but they were gone. Poor DD wanted to stop back at the front desk for the rest of our trip to ask for new pictures, but we didn’t. I felt bad. I should have just found the proper place to park the stroller in the first place. It’s just a shame, you know? We recovered quickly by showing our receipt at the stroller rental station, and we were off with yet another stroller.

I took some pictures of some Soap Stars as we passed by (thanks to a pretty good zoom feature on my camera)! For you All My Children fans out there, I had Bianca and Tad walk right by me, I literally could have extended my arm and touched them! It was pretty cool for this closet soap fan!

We went to Pizza Planet for lunch and enjoyed some pizza and salads in the nice air conditioned building. On our way to Indiana Jones, we saw Lightening McQueen and Mater just hanging out.
DisneyNov2006252.jpg

We all loved Indiana Jones. It had been 2 years since we’d seen it since DS was really afraid of it at that point. But we’re all a little bigger and tougher and we loved it. After the show we took a stroll down Mickey Ave. and took some pictures with some characters:

We had yet another Mickey Bar each and then went the back way into the Animation building and met up with Elastigirl.
DisneyNov2006275.jpg

We went over to Al’s Toy Barn and saw Woody and then hit the Great Movie Ride. Always a favorite of ours. It’s funny how my kids will be afraid of the Voyage of the Little Mermaid, but never once afraid of this ride with it’s shootings, skeletons, aliens and more. Go figure. We then got the kids all tattoo’ed up before heading out.
DisneyNov2006287.jpg

On the way out, we saw Susan Lucci riding down the main drag with Minnie. Pretty cool to see.
DisneyNov2006288.jpg

We took the boat over to the International Gateway at EPCOT and right away found Belle and Aurora in France.

DisneyNov2006295.jpg

The kids started another kidcot mask, since we neglected to bring them along with us this day (although, it was probably a good thing because they would have also been left in the stolen stroller). We will definitely have DD do a passport on our next trip because she was more interested in having the CM’s write in their own language on her mask than coloring it.

We also found Jasmine, Aladdin and Genie all together!
DisneyNov2006301.jpg

We had ADR’s at Alfredo’s in Italy at 6pm. And at 5:45 when we arrived, the IL’s were waiting on a bench for us. A couple near us were taking pictures of each other, and I offered to take one of them together. Then they asked if the 6 of us wanted one together. It was nice to share the magic.

(no idea what kind of hold DH is using with DS :rotfl: )

We only waited about 5 minutes after checking in to be seated. What a WONDERFUL experience this restaurant was. We loved the atmosphere, the kids were good, and the food was to die for! I told DH that we need to eat here on EVERY trip! I got the fettuccine (sp) alfredo and DH got the lasagna and we shared both. All I can say is mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! We both ordered the chocolate moose for dessert and it was heavenly.

**side note – my kids are in to the Little Pet Shop. They have about 25 total between them. We brought them with us in a little purse of DD’s and it was the best thing we packed for the whole darn trip! Any restaurant we had to wait for, or any line we were in (which wasn’t many) they just pulled a few of these out and amused themselves. Just wanted to throw in that tip for you parents out there!!

After dinner, the kids finished their kidcot masks and we bought a blanket in Mexico to cover them up while we watched Illuminations. DD had her very first EVER pin trade with Lorena, a CM in Mexico. DD was admiring her pins and she asked DD if she wanted to trade. (now, me being the bad mom I am, I hadn’t told DD anything about pin trading. I thought it would consume all of her time thinking about it and planning it – and I was right!). So she trades with Lorena and for the rest of the trip she’s scoping out everyone’s pins. She’s trading like crazy. I actually had to ban her from trading for a while because she was missing out on having FUN! (I know she was having fun in her own way, but I mean WDW fun: rides, seeing the sights, looking around beyond just people’s chests!)

Once the fireworks started, DS (supposedly a WDW expert) says “Oh look, it’s Wishes”. I explained to him that it’s a different fireworks show, and Wishes is at the Magic Kingdom. He says “Yeah, but I can still make my wishes with it”. AWWWWWWWW! He’s my little dreamer & believer. :lovestruc

We froze our tushies off waiting for the bus back to OKW and of course both kids fell asleep and were carried back to the room.

Up next – How much can we squeeze in on one day??

Sounds like a very fun and busy day! Don't you hate it when the kids grow out of stuff! :sad2: Alfredo's sounds great; I need to add it to my ever-growing list of places to try. Looking forward to more!

Day 7 – Monday, November 13th

All I can say for this day was….Thank God for park hoppers!

We started out at Animal Kingdom EMH. We arrived at 8:40am and did child swap so that DD could ride Expedition Everest 2 more times. I really wish they had the photopass scanners for these ride pictures because they were hysterical! She absolutely LOVES the ride, but she looks really, really scared! DD also wanted to try Primevil Whirl for the first time, so DS and I went on Triceratop Spin for one last time while she and DH did that.
DisneyNov2006309.jpg

Our ride was over much quicker than theirs, so DS and I went and played a game. We were the only ones around, and there is a 2 player minimum, so I played Whack-A-Mole with him. Now, I gotta share that in my family (maybe just in my little mind) I am the W-A-M master!! I never miss one! If for some reason I don’t win, it’s the mole’s fault. They weren’t popping up as fast on my board. :rotfl: Well, on this day with DS I threw the game. The boy was hitting the moles, but not hard enough. He doesn’t have any weight to put into it. I even whacked a few moles for him when he was looking on the other side of his board. He won, after what felt like 10 minutes. And he was SO excited and proud of himself! He won a little red dinosaur, which he aptly named Dino.

Of course when DD came off of her ride and saw DS’s new buddy, she wanted to play a game too. DD and DS played each other at the game where you roll the balls into the holes and the car or the dinosaur walks across the wall. Whichever one makes it across first, wins. Let me say….DH and I were praying hard that DD wins! What if DS wins another prize? Oh man, we could be here all day trying to get DD a little stuffed animal worth 25 cents! Never fear, DD won, and she won a blue frog…so we were all happy and we left AK to head back to OKW for a swim and to try out their waterslide!

We did some snackin’ and some swimmin’ and had a GREAT time! Both of the kids loved this slide even more than WL since it was bigger, and all enclosed.

DisneyNov2006320.jpg

We got ourselves cleaned up and went over to MGM around 1:45pm to see how the crowds would compare on a non-Super Soap Weekend day. Crowds….WHAT crowds? This place was awesome! Not many people at all! As we walked in, we saw a streetmosphere show. These guys cracked us up!
DisneyNov2006316.jpg

We ate lunch at the Backlot Express and then got some GREAT seats for the parade at 2:30 across from Sounds Dangerous. We saw a spot in between a couple of benches that we could just park the stroller in and the kids could sit and watch the parade. Then these 2 really nice people on the bench said that they would slide over so that DH and I could sit and watch. We couldn’t have had a better or more comfortable spot to watch the Holly Days Parade!
DisneyNov2006328.jpg

DisneyNov2006334.jpg

DisneyNov2006336.jpg

After the parade we took the kids for their first ever ride on Star Tours. They both really enjoyed it and were laughing throughout the whole ride. DD wanted to immediately go on again, DS said once was enough! DH took DD to Muppetvision 3D (another one DS is afraid of) and DS and I got in line to see Buzz Lightyear. He was coming out in 20 minutes and a line had already started forming. There were 3 green army guys from Toy Story walking around and amusing the crowd as we waited for Buzz (and others waited for Woody). They were a riot! They would walk behind guests who had NO idea they were there, and would be making fun of them. I think the parents got a bigger kick out of them than the kids.
DisneyNov2006337.jpg

DisneyNov2006340.jpg

DD saw Herbie and decided she wanted a picture next to it by herself, just like Lindsey Lohan! I have no idea where she came up with that, since she’s never seen the movie! :sad2:
DisneyNov2006342.jpg

On our way to find something to eat for dinner, we went back down Mickey Ave. and found some more characters to say hello to.
DisneyNov2006345.jpg

DisneyNov2006347.jpg

We picked up dinner from Rosie’s All American Café and Catalina Eddie’s and ate outside near the RnRC and Tower of Terror. Speaking of those rides…those are 2 of DH and my favorite rides in all of WDW. We did not ride them on this trip. We tried to be more about what the kids wanted to do, and since neither of them wanted to do ToT (both have done it once before) and DD didn’t want to ride RnRC, we decided to skip them. (all the more reason to go to WDW without the kids for our anniversary next year…but I don’t think DH will go for it) :furious:

After dinner we headed for the 7pm Fantasmic Show. We went in around 6:15 and the place was packed! There were only 2 sections that were seating. My kids sat on the ground and faced their seats and whipped out the Little Pets. There was a couple behind us from the U.K. and they got the biggest kick out of how well they played together and for how long, with the same little toys. They literally played with them for the whole 45 minutes and quickly cleaned them up when the announcement was made that the show was going to start. Have I mentioned how much I love those toys? I’m gonna have to talk to Santa about how much they love them!

Fantasmic was incredible! We had only seen it once before, and we had the abridged version because the weather wasn’t great. But this time, it was amazing! Afterwards, we went over to see the Osbourne Lights. This was a first for us and all I can say is WOW!!! I didn’t even attempt to take any pictures because I don’t know how to take good pictures of lights at night. But we got out the video camera and taped for a while. Unbelievable and SO beautiful! We looked around for somewhere to have a milkshake, but it was EMH and there weren’t a lot of snack choices available. DH and DD ended up having some chocolate ice cream and I opted for a Mickey Bar (I can have chocolate ice cream at home!). DS was already asleep. DD literally ate her last bite of ice cream, handed me her empty cup and fell asleep!

It wasn’t even 8:30 and they were passed out cold!! We were back at OKW before 9pm and got some rest!

Up next – Our LAST DAY

I told dd what your dd did, and now she's going to let her hair grow out longer so she can donate it. I didn't tell her about getting it cut at WDW...I'll let that be a surprise!!

I'm waiting for the next installment.....get busy lady!!!

Hope everyone had a GREAT Thanksgiving!

That is just awesome that your DD donated her hair. I' donated mine a few years ago but still can't convince DD6 to cut her hair above her shoulders. Anywayyour DD's haircut looks adorable too! Love the trip report. :sunny:

We are SO proud of her!!

You should be- Good for Her! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

She looks adorable with the short haircut BTW!

Great report! Can't wait for the finale. I have that same bittersweet feeling about my little ones growing up. My oldest (she's 8 1/2) has been working on her Christmas list and the first two items are money and gift cards! Now I really know she's growing up! She will still join me in doing the "Hot Dog" dance at the end of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, but I sincerely doubt she would do it in public. I'd get a "Oh, Mommmmmmmm!" for sure! And your dd's hair looks adorable! I know it has to be much easier to take care of. I'm hoping my dd will go for the locks of love thing sometime soon, but she keeps chickening out!

I am loving your TR! That is so sweet of your daughter to donate her hair :) You must be so proud of yourselves for raising her to be such a sweetie! Your kids are adorible. Cannot wait to read more :)

Great great trip report! Your kids are just so totally adorable!!!!! I can't get enough of TR now since our trip is only a month away, its my little slice of a preview of whats to come! Can't wait to read more!

Thank you for the great trip report. Your dd's new hair cut looks fabulous! What a wonderful thing to do!
