Hi all. I have been wanting to share our trip report with everyone but just couldn't get it together. Well, I have figured out how to share pictures and I think I am ready. I want to thank all the Dis'ers who helped with our planning because without you I don't know if we would have had the fabulous time we did. The title comes from so many people saying "you really had that good of a time?" and me responding with "yes, it really was that good!". So, here we go. I hope someone reads along.

The cast of characters:
Its me, Dawn who planned everything with great excitement and joy. I haven't been to WDW in 8 years and while it was nice it was nothing compared to this trip. Then its DH, Jeff who likes WDW but is not a fanatic by any stretch. He was excited to bring our kids but tried to hide his own excitement for the trip. The twins, Jocelyn and Jeffery, turned 5 on Thanksgiving and love Disney things. They also really love staying in a hotel for any reason. My MIL and Daunt were also scheduled to join us. Unfortunately there were some unforeseen issues that kept them in TX. Our dates: November 14-22nd. We stayed at Windsor Hills Resort in a 3 bedroom/3 bath townhouse for the first week and 1 night at Pop Century. We rented a mini-van and had several ADR's for meals out of pocket. OK, I think that is it for the starting details. [/

Here is a picture of the family:

Disclaimer: please be patient with me! This is my first report on the Dis! and I am still figuring stuff out like the size of the pictures.

We have friends who work for Southwest so we were able to fly stand-by as a gift from them. The unfortunate thing about flying stand-by is the need to be flexible in your travel. I picked our dates pretty carefully and was pretty sure that the majority of people would not be traveling the week before Turkey Day. I wanted to fly out on the first flight but it was oversold and not likely to be accommodating stand by passengers. :sad2: My MIL and Aunt were scheduled to travel with us but had an event come up for Sunday they didn’t want to miss. I figured having them come down on Monday morning would actually be good because it would give us a couple of days to enjoy each other as a family unit. I was looking forward to them coming though as it is always nice to have my MIL around and I knew she would create lasting memories with my kids. So, we put ourselves on the list for the 9:55am flight that would take us through Birmingham and hopefully into MCO by 3:15pm. Since our kids are younger we knew we would board with the family boarding group and still be able to sit together as long as there were seats and we got a boarding pass. Sure enough there were plenty of open seats :cool1:and we were able to get our passes and get boarded. My daughter announced that she wanted to “sit near daddy” (this will be a reoccurring theme throughout our trip) which was fine with me. I gladly sat across from them and let DH manage the activity bags and snacks. It was on the plane that he finally took a look at the planning binder. His interest came when he started asking questions. First it was “so do you know which parks we are going to every day?” “Do you have a budget for everyday or just a total budget?” At some point I asked did he was to see “the binder”? As a former event planner he was pretty excited that I had a binder for our trip and once he reviewed it he was pretty impressed. When I pulled out the labeled Disney activity bags for the kids he looked at me and said “OK, now you’re just showing off!” I just laughed. Flights were pretty uneventful and we made it to MCO a few minutes ahead of schedule.

Here are my "big" kids ready to go!

Thanks for joining in and being number 1! The goody bags made the flight a breeze. I just thought it was funny that DH wasn't aware that I had them :lmao:. He seemed genuinely surprised and impressed! I love when that happens!

So we made it through the airport (so big!) and headed to find our rental van. Once we got our van we were off to Pop Century to pick up our stroller swap. After getting a bit turned around (which happens when you have no directions but are winging it based on the WDW signs ) we made it. My DH who never met a stranger, “just unmet friends” strikes up a lively conversation with the gate attendant about High Point, NC. I tell you, he could make friends with anyone! We picked up the stroller and decide to find the townhouse at Windsor Hills. Now for those of you who have never stayed off property just bear with me. We made it to the townhouse and got through the gated security and all checked in with no problems. Used our keyless entry and made it into our home for the next week! Took a good look around and everything looked great. Clean and exactly as the pictures I saw. Except for the smell. My husband informed me that the very strong smell was from curry and a lot of it! Apparently the guests before us had a wonderful curry feast and didn’t think to open a window or put in a plug in deodorizer. Since we were hungry and still had to make our Walmart run we didn’t stay too long. I originally thought about going to DTD or some place really fun for dinner but the hungry melt downs were on the horizon (the kids and DH;)). Going down 192 we found a Golden Corral and decided that a buffet with food ready to be eaten was a good way to start. After the lovely dinner we headed out to Walmart for our weeks' supplies. Surprisingly we made it out of Walmart under budget with plenty of breakfast food, snacks, household supplies, etc. for the week. Back to the townhouse and unpacking. I had us unpacked and ready for bed in short order while the kids watched a movie (supplied by the owner) on their flat screen in their room. DH watched some sports and I listed to music. It was really good to have so much space. :goodvibes We had an early meeting with the princesses so after letting everyone unwind we had to call it a night. After rearranging a couple of nightlights, prayers, and tickles the kids were out for the night. I thought I would have a hard time going to bed but since I was working on 3 hours of sleep I went down pretty easy. Below are some pics from the townhouse.

Overall I am so pleased with our choice for lodging. It made for a very relaxed week and very cost efficient (under $750 for the week)!

Now, would we make it to Epcot on time? Would my princess and prince (who are not morning people) behave in a royal fashion? Would DH pass out when he sees the bill for breakfast? Stay tuned.

After a good nights sleep in our townhouse we were up pretty early. We had an 8:10 ressie at Akershus for our meeting with the princesses. Jeffery was up around 6:45am which is pretty normal to him and we had to wake the princess which is pretty normal for us :lmao: After getting them dressed and reminding my DH that we were wheels up at 7:30am (plane reference meaning out of the drive way not just gathering bags) we were ready to go. Since this was our first time driving into the parks we followed the directions from Windsor Hills guests who know short cuts. The drive in was only about 15 minutes to the parking lot. We made our way through check-in and off we went to find Norway. Wasn’t really hard since that is where all the other people were going too! :thumbsup2 After parking the stroller my DH tells me that the stroller had already paid for itself! We were part of a stroller swap which allowed us to use a double jogging stroller for the week for only $20. It was the best piece of planning I did all trip – well maybe not the best but pretty darn good. There were lots of families gathered around the podium waiting to be called in for breakfast. I took a quick run next door to pick up an autograph book (had great intentions of making one from scratch but didn’t happen) and we were ready. My son gets a little “coo coo for cocoa puffs” when he’s hungry so I was hoping we wouldn’t have to wait too long. We were finally called and went to stand in the line to take our picture with Belle. My daughter was kind of distracted and not really in the mood and then...She looked ahead and with the brightest eyes, grabbed my hand and said in her most excited and serious voice “Mommy there’s a princess in there!” That was it. :lovestruc I was sold and was completely OK with the ridiculous amount of money our breakfast would cost. My daughter was meeting the princesses and she was over the moon! So, picture with Belle and off to our table.

We meet our server, got the scoop on the buffet, order some juices and we’re ready. I know that getting them food is critical because Jeffery, well, he just wasn’t going to wait much longer. I was impressed with the cold buffet and thought it was just enough choices. After sitting and getting some food down and my excitement under control, we began to see the princesses. We saw Snow White, Aurora (Jocelyn’s favorite), Ariel, and Mulan. Jocelyn wanted to know if Mulan was a princess so we asked her later as she was heading to the back. I was so impressed by her sweet demeanor with Jocelyn. She got down to her eye level, stroked her cheek and explained that she was a warrior and she helped to protect her princess friends. It was just a very special moment. So after many pictures and a trip to the restroom we were done with our very special birthday princess breakfast! I must admit I wondered if I would regret not paying the extra to be at the castle and honestly it was a wonderful experience that I wouldn’t change.

Oh my goodness, your twins are so cute!!! I am so glad that your trip was a wonderful one. Can't wait to hear more. :goodvibes

great update. My kids and my mom went to Askerhaus last time we went to Disney, they were there for dinner. They liked the princess too. I don't think they liked the dinner buffet as much though. My husband and I went to the Morrocan restaurant that night for our tenth anniversary dinner. It was a good experience but I don't know that I would go there again. Looking forward to reading morepopcorn::

hi! Hopping on board for some fun:) You have beautiful children. Last Nov. my family and I went to the Princess breakfast in Norway and I liked it. The Princesses all came around in a timely fashion and did not seem rushed. The food was good too, I loved the potatoes:banana: Can not wait for more updatespopcorn::

Great job! We took our twins at age 5 for the first time, too - it's such a great age to show them the magic!

I love the pictures. :thumbsup2

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the breakfast. I'm not an egg eater but there was so much other stuff to eat. DH really enjoyed being able to try the different Norwegian cold stuff as well.

Thanks for joining in! No he didn't faint but I had prepared him ahead of time. I think had he not known the price and just saw the bill - :scared1:

A friend gave us that pink dress and she couldn't wait to show Aurora that she had a pink dress as well. Definately a highlight of the trip!

Epcot Part 2

After a few more pictures of Jocelyn in her dress we changed her clothes and went off to find Soarin’ for our first ride at Disney. Because of my planning on here and on another board I knew that I should get fastpasses and then ride. The posted wait time was 20 minutes and we waited about that before boarding. We love it! I wasn’t prepared for the movement of the seats (for some reason I thought we just stayed on the ground) but it was very cool. When we were done my DH said “oh yeah, we’re definitely doing that again!” So glad I got the fastpasses. During our time at Epcot that morning we did Living with the Land, Finding Nemo, Turtle Talk with Crush, played in the shark area, walked around the aquarium, redid Soarin’ (on the front row), did the eco-friendly Lion King movie, went to Innoventions for a quick visit, and did our Disney Visa picture with Minnie and Goofy. We headed to the van at 2pm. My plan, since everyone was up so early, was to grab some lunch and get some rest and head back to Epcot around 5-6 and stay through Illuminations. Did it happen? Or are plans made to be broken?

Wait for it...wait for it...

We made it back! Once back at WH I tried to get the kids to take a nap. Jeffery had slept in the stroller/van so he was up. Instead of fighting it I decided to take a dip in the pool with him. After our swim I was informed by my husband that my MIL and aunt were not going to be joining us as planned in the morning. WHAT!!!??? :sad1::sad1: Well, it seems that all you know what happened after we left. Our niece who lives with MIL passed out and had to be rushed to the hospital, my SIL was rushed to the hospital and admitted, and a nephew in California died suddenly. All in a matter of 30 hours! So, despite their desire to come they felt that they should stay in TX and figure out when they would have to travel to CA. I was very disappointed because I wanted to have my kids have a special vacation time with their Granny. :sad1: There are 25 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren in town. My in-laws all took a vacation to Atlanta this summer and we didn’t join them. Long story - but that is too many people for too long in too small of a situation. :headache: I was also disappointed because I wanted to spend time with her as well. And honestly I made planning decisions like the size of the townhouse and van versus car, based on the additional adults. Well, things happen and we were definitely reminded that “all things work together for our good” so it ended up being great. OK, so back to Epcot. We were hungry and needed to find dinner quickly. I thought my DH would enjoy Morocco and I took the kids to America. I should have followed my first thought and got fish and chips from the UK. Anyway, we ate and hung out and just let the kids play and run a bit while figuring out where to go for viewing Illuminations.

I sent my DH to go talk to a couple of Cast Members to get their recommendations while the kids played. Well, he came back with pixie dust on him! One of the members made a call and directed us to the Rose and Crown pub to the back patio where we watched the show with no crowds or obstructions.:banana:

Day 3 – Holy Land Experience

One of the great things about Orlando is that there are so many things to see and do with your family. My in-laws went to Orlando in ’04 and found The Holy Land Experience. The one request my MIL made was that we go back for a day. After checking it out on the web we decided it would be an interesting and unique experience we would enjoy. So, on Monday we got up, made a great breakfast and headed out the door about 10:30 to go the HLE. Since my MIL/aunt were not joining us we didn’t have to go to the airport and could go straight to the HLE. After getting a little turned around we made it around 11am. I was able to sell the extra tickets to a couple in line and give them a discount! If you have never been The HLE is a biblical attraction run by Trinity Broadcast Network.

It’s hard to explain but there are different biblical reenactments, different viewing rooms, experiences, and shows. As a Christian adult I found it very fascinating and really could have spent a good deal of time checking everything out. For my twins, not so much! :sad2: The children’s area was really, really, limited and I found myself telling them “shh and don’t touch that” entirely too much for vacation:headache:. So after lunch I decided to take the kids back to the townhouse to swim and pick up DH at closing. While he wasn’t thrilled about the idea of us splitting up I think he understood that the only other option was that he also leave because we couldn’t stay.:sad2:

So the kids and I made our way back to WH and had a great time swimming in the back lanai. The private pool was the perfect size for me to manage the 2 of them (with their lifevests) alone. They loved it! :thumbsup2 We picked up DH at 6pm and then went to Downtown Disney for dinner. We were scheduled to have our birthday dinner on Tuesday but I decided to see if we could get into T-Rex while we were there. There was a 25 minute wait which allowed the kids to check out the Lego area and McDonald’s mini playground. Dinner was OK. I think I had higher expectations of the décor, food, and service. Nothing was terrible just not worth the money or wait in my opinion.:confused3

The kids had fun and really enjoyed the dino dig area outside the restaurant. I actually could have taken them to McDonalds and then let them play at the dino dig at T-Rex and they would have been very happy:lmao:. Oh well, live and learn! It turned out to be a long night and I knew we needed to turn in if we would be ready for Animal Kingdom at rope drop. Will we make it?

Great TR! Your kids are precious! The pics with the princesses came out amazing! :)

Awesome trip report so far. I love all the details your including and your twins are adorable. What a precious time for your daughter with Mulan, it's awesome when the characters can have an extra moment to interact like that. And the HLE sounds very interesting as well. I can't wait to hear more about your trip!
