YES Program - March 12- March 18

I am looking to see if anyone is interested in forming a YES Group on March 12. It would be the Ocean Discoveries Class at Epcot at 8:30 AM. Age group is 3rd - 9th grade. We have 4 kids (my 2 kids and a friends 2 kids). Looking for 6 more to form a group. Let me know if anyone is interested. We would be buying the 8 Day PH Passes. Don't know the exact cost - but they are approx $200 per person. So, a nice savings. Thanks. Lynn

Oh - and we need a backup class. So, it would be the Wild By Nature Class at Animal Kingdom. Same time and Day - just in case the 1st class is unavailable.

If those dates don't work - would be interested in trying to get something together March 12-18th. We have a 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grader.

Hi Lynn,

My sister may be interested in this. She is looking to go that exact time and has four children ages (12,11,8,6). How do they determine grades for the program? These kids are homeschooled and her youngest is in 2nd grade. Do they check ages? I don't know much about the YES program and how it works. If you form a group do you all have to buy the same day passes? They only want to go for four or five days so I don't think they would want an 8 day PH. Do all the members have to buy the same thing?

Would be interested in learning more so I can help her determine if this is a better way to go. I know they would LOVE the Ocean Discovery class or any of them.

Those two classes are the ones we're interested in. My kids are 9, 7 (will be 8 by then), and 6. Can't guarantee those dates, but I wanted to subscribe to this thread just in case.

Well, from what I have read on here. You need 10 kids minimum for the group. All the kids would receive discounted passes and for each kid there is you can get another discounted pass (so if you have 2 kids - the 2 adults would get the passes also). Most everyone would have to have the same pass but could probably get 2 different ones and that would work. (We actually only need 7 Day PH's now, which are about $185 per ticket - so saving about $100 a ticket)

The Ocean Class is for ages 8-15 and the Wild by Nature is for 7-15. I don't think they are real strict on the ages. There can only be 2 chaperones for the group of 10.

These classes have to be booked 6 weeks in advance - we are coming up on that within the next couple of days. So, if you guys are both interested we would have 10 kids to make the class. Let me know ASAP so if you are I can call to see if any of the classes/days are still available. (We are pretty flexible on the days/classes but have our itinerary all planned out so was kind of working around that).

I would love to get a group together in March. But, have not had any luck getting more kids. We have 4 between 2 families going but need 6 more kids to form a group. Well, that would make 7 kids so far. We still need 3 more to have a group. So, if we can get another 3 within the next few days - hopefully, we can put something together.

Ok, it looks like we'd be there between March 13 and the 18th, with 3 kids (1st, 2nd and 4th grade). But then I'd need an additional 3 tickets for myself, my husband and our preschooler. We only wanted 5-day base tickets though.

Unfortunatly, I don't think we will be able to get a group together. With you 3 and the 4 with our group would be 7 kids. We still need 3 more kids for sure to make a group. These have to be done 6 weeks in advance and we are at that 6 week mark right now. So, unless someone else says they want to do this for sure really soon - I don't think it will happen....

Ok. If we get the 4 kids in my group (3rd, 4th, 5th 6th) and the 3 Kids in KibbyCat's Group (1st, 2nd, 4th) and the 3 kids in Texastides Group (1st, 1st and 4th) that would be 10 kids.

Looking at the dates we are all going and the ages of the kids I figure the best classes would be either Wild by Nature, which is at AK at 8:30 and 1:00 each day (this class says for 2nd - 9th but I'm sure the 1st graders would be fine) or second choice would be Ocean Discoveries at Epcot at 8:30 or 1:00 each day (this shows 3rd-9th grade but again I think the younger kids would be fine). Thinking either the 16th, 17th or 18th would work for all of us. I could call and see if they still have either of these classes available for any of these dates.

I know we would like 7 or 8 day PH passes for our group. Kibbycat wants 5 Day Basic Passes for her group. Texastide - what kind of tickets would you want for your group and how many would you need?

Please both of you let me know ASAP if this looks feasible to you guys and if those dates/classes look Ok. My e-mail is open all day long so I get them instantly. Thanks. Lynn

We are only going to Disney if we can get into the class, so I hope they will allow us to form one, since open enrollment is not available that week. I work for a school, so if the YES people need a specific group name, I'd be glad to provide that.

As an afterthought, my 1st grader will be in 2nd grade by the time we go. (He's homeschooled.) So that would give us two 1st graders, two 2nd graders, one 3rd grader, three 4th graders, one 5th grader, and one 6th grader.

Plus, there were two other posters (Cmbar and kcoffey4) who showed an interest.

Someone else on here was saying they were barred from forming their own group for the class. (Lots of speculations over this, but no direct answers.) We are only going to Disney if we can get into the class, so I hope they will allow us to form one, since open enrollment is not available that week. I work for a school, so if the YES people need a specific group name, I'd be glad to provide that.

I think we'd be better off saying that we're one group who's going to be there from March 12 - 25th (or whatever) and that we want our class on the 16th. If you say something about being friends, they won't allow all of us to get the tickets. (There was another thread where someone posted that only students attending the class and their immediate family members were eligible. That includes parents, grandparents, and siblings but not aunts, uncles, cousins, or friends.

Thanks for letting us know. There is another lady on these boards trying to get a group for November. Maybe your sister could join her.
