Accelerating into April 2026 Exercise Thread

Evening all,

Lots more colour changes over the past few days: congrats to sophy1996, Twilight Sparkle and WDW_FAN_IN_TX for hitting orange, to PollyannaMom, Raya and myself for hitting purple and big congrats to piglet1979 for accelerating ahead into pink!

So next up on our quick paced month is a ride that is currently under refurbishment and has very recently had a reopen date announced, it is of course Rock 'n' Rollercoaster:

Previously starring Aerosmith, and soon to be starring The Muppets and Electric Mayhem, the ride first opened in 1999, with another version following at Disneyland Paris 3 years later in 2002. The Paris version shut in 2019 and was replaced by Avengers Assemble: Flight Force, which opened in 2022. The original Aerosmith RNR remained in Hollywood Studios until March this year when it was closed, and will reopen as a reimagined Muppets version on 26th May (2 weeks after I leave! 😭).

The ride launches you off at a rather speedy 0 to 57mph (92km/h) in less than 2.8 seconds, and features 3 inversions in total. You experience 5 Gs as you go into the inversions, more than an astronaut experiences during a space shuttle launch.

There are/were? a number of hidden Mickeys throughout the ride, including 2 on the ride track itself, 2 in the tile mosaic near the marble doors and many on Steve Tyler's shirt on the poster outside.

Fun fact for you all, each coaster train featured a different set of songs, specified by the license plate on the front of the train. Aerosmith even rerecorded a number of their songs to fit in the the ride, such as changing "Love in an Elevator" to "Love in a Rollercoaster".

I'll leave you again with a front row ride POV, and also a short video clip with info on the new Muppets version. No ride photo today as i mustn't have got one last trip!

How does everyone feel about Rock n Rollercoaster, and about the Muppets retheme? I like the ride, it's not my favourite as I found it wasn't smooth enough for my liking. And I think it was looking pretty dated so I'm really excited for the Muppets version. Such a better idea!

45 min this morning, for 525/700

I'm OK with Rock n Rollercoaster - I like the ride fine, but am not the biggest fan of loud music up close. I usually ride once with DS and DH, but sometimes they go back again while I'm shopping or something.

I'm looking forward to the change because I loved The Muppet Movie as a kid and remember the Electric Mayhem. I think it will be a nice way to keep the Muppets in the parks.

I have mixed feelings about the Rockin' Roller Coaster redo. Aerosmith was a big deal to me, the first rock album I bought, the first rock concert I attended. After I learned about the lead singer's behavior by reading his biography I can't really support him anymore. I'm glad to see the Muppets give the attraction a family friendly rock vibe. :) Now if I could just figure out how to ride without hitting my head against the restraints....

Raya - 433/675 64%

I had always hoped to see Queen replace Aerosmith, but I'm also very happy with the Muppets retheme. This is a favorite of ours, so hopefully we'll be able to get on it when we're there in December.
Queen would be incredible!

+ 295 for some decent walks over the weekend and Friday.

Total = 1330/1800

Morning all,

We're now well over half way into the month, and some more great colour changes over the past few days. Congrats to Alicatt for reaching orange, Twilight Sparkle and the entire Team for reaching purple, to PollyannaMom for hitting pink and to luvpoohandcompany for speeding into red!

Today we're going to look at one of the newer speedy rides at WDW and, in my personal opinion, one of the best - it is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind!

13883.webp

Cosmic Rewind is the 2nd fastest ride at Disney, with the backwards launch featuring a top speed of 60mph (97km/h) - coming in 5mph slower only to Test Track. Opening in May 2022, delayed slightly by covid, it is Epcot's first rollercoaster and Disney's first backwards launch coaster. It's also one of the world's longest enclosed rollercoasters, with over 5500 feet of track, and actually holds the world record for most expensive rollercoaster at a cost of $500 million.

The ride is known as an "Omnicoaster" with ride vehicles capable of spinning 360 degrees, and also subjects the riders to 2 Gs. And it's a pretty long ride too, clocking in at 3 minutes 20 seconds.

The ride is housed in the Wonders of Xandar Pavilion, Epcot's first Other-World Showcase Pavilion. On Avengers Campus maps in different Disney parks, the ride is referred to as the Xandarian Outpost. Did you know the exit of the attraction has been made to resemble backstage areas of Epcot, even including a mirror next to the door, similar to the one Cast Members check themselves in before entering the park.

I'll leave you with a ride POV video as usual (in the dark so not great), a behind the scenes how it was made type video, and another of my terrible ride photos (back row left)

So how does everyone feel about this ride? As indicated above, I absolutely love it. Had to dose myself up considerably with motion sickness tablets beforehand but it was totally worth it. I only got to ride it once on my last trip so it is my intention to get on it as many times as possible on my upcoming trip!

Have gotten to ride cosmic rewind twice and really enjoy it! Everybody wants to rule the world and conga
