We have a family trip planned for May, but my DW and I decided to take a quick get away trip in Feb. The trip is for Friday - Monday and I didn't want to use our points, so I booked POFQ. We have never stayed there, but I posted last week and many of you said how much you like POFQ. After hearing the positive reviews, we were excited to stay there. However.....
Friday night I checked my e-mail and I had a message from David's Point rentals for last minute points at a discounted rate. My DW was already asleep, but I went ahead and made an appointment to call David in the morning. When my wife got up on Sat. morning she said she was a little disappointed about switching resorts. She said that she was really looking forward to staying there since it would remind her of a trip we took to New Orleans together a few years ago. After a while she said that it would be okay if we switched.
On the request to Davids Point rental I stated that we were interested in VWL, BLT, BCV, BWV, or AKV. Nothing against OKW and SSR, just not what we were interested in on this trip. David called MS and they said they had what we were looking for at BWV, Great! I told my wife that we going to be staying at BWV and she was very excited. Then David hung up with MS and had me send payment and then he called back to MS, but now there was no availability at BWV. He said lets call back in a couple of minutes and see then. Sure enough, nothing available. He said that he would refund my money. I then had to tell my DW that were back at staying at POFQ. I started to think about it more and thought, Hey, why not do a split stay. I asked my DW if she was interested in a split stay and she was not keen on the idea. She said it sounded like a lot of hassle. After a little coaxing I had her convinced that it wouldnt be that bad. I called David back and told him that we were interested in a split stay. He said that he doesnt do spit stays too much paperwork.
I had to go back downstairs and tell DW, hey we are back at POFQ. During the day I called MS to see if there were any openings and finally at about 4 they had a savanna view at AKL. I yelled to the wife to see if she was interested and she was very excited. I called David back and told him that I had called MS there was an open room at AKV and asked if would call them. He said yes and proceeded to call them as I was processing the payment again. Well, in the couple of minutes it was also gone. At that point David pretty much said he was done with me unless I wanted OKW or SSR. He wasn't chasing down any of the other resorts. I also had to do one more walk of shame to my DW and tell we were back at POFQ.
It was kind of frustrating getting my hopes up and then let down. No real point to this post, just sharing!
