Sounds neat! Would love to hear more about it. What is the "YES" program?
Disney's YES (Youth Educational Series) offers a variety of classes at WDW and DLR. They have classes that you can bring a group to (like a school class, a scout group, etc) and they also have individual enrollment classes that you can sign up just your kids and there will be other kids in the class too. They're only offered so often and there's a limited number of spots. Here's a
link to the individual enrollment page. The classes are in different focus areas: Physical Science, Natural Science, Arts & Humanities, and Leadership & Careers. One adult is required to attend the class with your child(ren).
To attend the class you buy a discounted park ticket (so it doesn't work to use it with a package and you can't do any upgrades with it - there are restrictions.) But if you're okay with the restrictions, you can get an awesome deal. Our 3 day park hoppers to DLR were about $160/person! (Current gate prices for regular tickets are $250/adults and $235/youth). So saving about $100 a ticket, plus get to do a class at Disney... AWESOME deal in my book!
DS attended a class at WDW right before he started Kindergarten and it was great! We're looking forward to seeing what this class will be like! (Actually, the picture in my signature of him with Pluto is from that class. Their class happened to be the first riders on Goofy's Barnstormer that day and Goofy, Pluto, and Donald were there! Three of the kids in his small group got to ride with the characters... pure Disney Magic! Even their teacher was amazed - she said that had never happened to her groups before!)
My DD has attended this class twice. She had a lot of fun! They learned about the history of animation, the zoetrope, and learned to draw a few characters.
Cool! Thanks for the info. And I'm guessing it was a good class if she attended it twice!
