Sorry I have not responded before now. I have had a heavy heart, but feel I should share my experience with you.
I would like to thank Pete and all the Webmasters, Moderators, and Dis Board members for your thoughts, kind words, and PMs. I really do appreciate your concern and support.
As most of you know, this was a family reunion trip planned for over 2 yrs. and a Christmas gift to our 7 grands. We do feel we were treated unjustly and our cruise was anything but Magical.
Concerning our 12/14/02 cruise:
Target and other Dis members accounts of our situation are correct. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=303063&perpage=15&pagenumber=3
The DCL Health Center Staff did confine me to our cabin for 72 hours. However, after much controversy, I was released after 48 hrs. because I obviously was not sick.
I suffer from and take prescription medication for stomach and intestional ailments which decided to flare up. I quickly learned anyone with gastro problems on Disney is suspected of having Norwalk type virus. This is the only information I can give at this time as I am in the process of seeking legal advise.
A word of advice: Go and have fun, just be very cautious. I also would suggest if you have any health issues, file a health form. I did not, but do not think in my particular situation it would have benefited. DCL and Vanter Ventures Medical is currently in a state of paranoia over the Norwalk type virus situation. Crew
members confirmed to me they are under orders to report anything out of the ordinary - such as: staying in room, not showing up for dinner, etc.
I do understand DCL should be cautious, but without over reacting. Confining people in their cabin on suspicion only would NOT make Walt happy.
Thank you,
Sandie ~ 4Nana
