CAST OF CHARACTERS:
Yecats - Me, myself and I.
Me is Single, 33 (however, other two personalities - myself is about 10 years old and an advid SM freak and the I personality may be about 60 years especially after getting off of the ToT).
Also on board is my new Canon ZR65 Digital Videocamera nicknamed: Handycam, as it was always in my hand.
PLAN FOR THE DAY:
1. Checking out of PORS
2. Magic Kingdom
3. Checking in at DTD Hilton
This morning I was awake well before my Mickey call was to come in. I woke up to the sound of toilets all around me (apparently the hotel had become full as this was the weekend before Thanksgiving) and soon thereafter excited children running past my window with parents following. I laid in bed for quite some time looking around and really beginning to feel sad as this was my last day at WDW. I had finished packing the night before so had nothing left to do but get up and get dressed. I decided to turn on the tv and sat there for an hour listening to the tv, listening to toilets flushing and children running past the window and eventually my Mickey call came so listened to Mickey for the last time. I finally got up and dressed and piddled around the room making sure, once again, that I packed everything. Finally, I called bell services to come and pick up my luggage and not 10 minutes later a bellman arrived, provided me with a claims check and away they went. I took one last look around the room and had to leave. I walked up to the food court for breakfast around 10:10 and ate a cinnamon roll and side of bacon then checked out. Wow it was final, my last day at Disney.
I headed off to Magic Kingdom a little before 11:00. I didn't really mean to spend the day here but wanted to see if BTMRR had opened yet and see the xmas Country Bear Show. I then meant to ride one or two things and say goodbye then head on over to Epcot.
Got to MK and immediately hopped on the train. You could tell the park had a nice crowd already. Got off the train in Frontierland and NO, BTMRR was still closed. Bummer. I looked at Splash and got a FP. Needless to say I found myself here all day reriding most rides at least once using FP most of the day and waiting in lines in between.
I ate a late lunch around 2:15 at Columbia Harbor House and hit up more of my favorite rides. Well, my feet and ankles were really feeling it and I knew I had to leave. I left MK around 5ish and took the bus back to PORS. I really hate walking out of MK. I was very sad and had a tear or two in my eyes as I really don't know when I will be back. Arrived at PORS and claimed my luggage within minutes and a cab. Cab driver attempted to pick me up so I informed him that I wasn't looking for additional baggage. Don't really think he liked my response but too bad, that's what he gets for asking me out while he's on the job. Professionialism goes right out the window.
Off to the Downtown Disney Hilton to check-in. I am flying out tomorrow afternoon and purchased one night from Priceline in the Disney vicinity and ended up with the Hilton for $62. Arrived in good time around 5:30 and checkin took about 10 minutes. The clerk placed me in room #767 facing Pleasure Island and DTD. Great view by the way. I could see all the way to MGM (and the top of ToT) and Epcot. I was very tired after spending most of the day at MK and really need to put my feet up. I kept playing around with the idea of resting for an hour and heading off to Epcot but I truly knew I had it once and for all. I decided to stay and enjoy the room and the cable and see if I can see Illuminations from my room's window.
I unpacked what I needed, made a couple of phone calls, took a nice hot shower and then ordered dinner in (chicken ceasar salad and NY cheesecake). Now I would like to make a notation about this wing in the Hilton. The Hilton is a very nice hotel with a nice pool area, restaurants, etc. I had a room with double beds (really forgot to ask for a king) which had a minibar area (usual high prices for drinks, chips and candy) and the room looked like it was recently refurbished in the past year or so. I had plenty of towels and amentities including coffee, coffeemaker, iron and so on. This is the drawback with this room, the doors in this wing are cut 1/2 inch short from the floor. This was the problem with my room. I could hear everyone around me as everyone's doors in this wing were cut 1/2" short of the floor. I had walked up towards the elevators to get ice and could clearly hear every conversation in every room on the way up the hallway (people were talking in normal tones but sound travels right out from under the door). It is odd. I had a family staying the room directly across the hallway and the youngest child (about teething age) cried for quite some time (up until about 9:30) and I could hear him clearly in my room. I took the bath mat and placed in under the door to block out the noise. Other than that, I thought the hotel was very nice but why would you cut those doors so short. I would've asked to be moved if it would've been for any longer then one night and I would certainly have to rethink my stay here if it were for any length of time. I do not know if the rest of the floors were this way, but that area of the 7th floor is that way.
At 9:00 I sat in the chair and watched Illuminations from my room. You can see the fireworks very clearly and I did film most of it from this angle as well. I then decided to wait up to see the fireworks from Pleasure Island and began reviewing bits of the various tapes I had taken from the trip as well as watch tv. I started to fall asleep about 10:30 and snoozed for about an hour and woke up. I then waited for the fireworks. At 12:05 they began. What a joke! This is the worst thing that I have ever seen Disney put on. PI had about 15 fireworks go off over a 20 second span and that was it. Woo hoo, what excitement. I waited up for that. Trust me, never again.
Anyway went to sleep with my last look at PI at night from my window.
