Year of your first trip

After reading another thread, it made me curious to know what year most people on the boards went to WDW for the first time.

For me it was 1975, the year I got out of Kindergarten.

1986 was our first trip..unfortunately I was 30 years old before we got to go, but have been as often as we can since then.

our 1st trip to wdw was in 2000. i was 42, dh 45 and dd 19, although dd had been once before with my parents when she was 5. we fell in love with wdw. i figure i'll just have to take more trips now in order to "catch up" with all of you that have been going since you were young

Technically I got to go in I believe in 1975. I was only a little over a year old. I don't remember a thing.
2002 was the next trip, was also the first trip for dh and ds. Next one is within countdown range!!!

1986, I was six years old. I seem to go in roughly 6 year intervals- hopefully I can make them a bit more frequent now.

I made my mother drive up from Miami beach for a DAY at the Magic Kingdom in February 1985, and it was school vacation week!! Little did I know that not all states are like Massachusetts, and driving from Miami Beach to Orlando wasn't like driving from Worcester to the Cape.
It was totally worth it though!!

We went for the first time in April 1975. I was just a couple of months pregnant with our 2nd child. We stayed at Ft. Wilderness Campground and besides me, my DH and DD, my DH's sister, husband and 2 kids went with us.

Back then you could resort hop, and we would swim in the pool at the Poly.

1999 - I won a 7-day land/sea trip for 4. I took my daughter ( 7 then) and sister & her son. We stayed 4 days at the Dolphin and then went on the 3-night Magic cruise. That was the start of something big!

We been back to WDW 7 times, to Disneyland twice, and sailed on 4 DCL cruises. And we have now been DVC members for 1 year!

I was a very lucky little girl and got to go the year the Mk opened. My great uncle was a long time employee of Disney and invited us all down for that first season. I was 6 and have never gotten over the wonder. We just returned yesterday from our first week long family visit. Happy to report all the magic is still there!

My first trip was in 1976 and I had just turned 6. Went with my mom and grandparents. I only remember a few things about that trip, they were: getting off Space Mt. white as a ghost running and screaming all the way to my grandmother. It's a small world and staying off site at the Hilton and playing minature golf outside at the hotel at night. I finally got to go back last year with my 2 and my mom. What a blast!!! Now I think...why did I wait sooo long to return

My very first trip was in the 70s, when I was a teen.

Interesting poll results, as I have always suspected that Disney's most faithful fans were teens or adults by the 70s...

Only because now there are so many alternate sources of family entertainment, they do face stronger competition...

Thanksgiving of 1975. I was in the 4th grade. We took a train from NY to FL and it took 26 hours each way.

I remember choking up and starting to cry when I first saw the Castle... I could not believe that it was real.

I also remember eating hot dogs and watching the brand new Bicentennial Parade.

Have been back 5 times since ('79, '84, '87, '97 and '01) and am hoping to return in '05.

Our first visit was in 2002. I had wanted to go since WDW opened but never had enough $$ We loved it so much we joined the DVC and are planning to make at least one visit every year
