Maggie and Judi, it looks like Son of the Morning doesn't like for people to ask for prayers and pixie dust requests unless they just do it on Kermit's thread.

hey no need to be too harsh on SOM. iirc, the thread that is stuck up there at the top was initated by a similar post because many posters felt like the prayer/pd threads were taking over the cb. i don't think he was expressing his opinion in a mean or nasty way.

i guess we interpret things differently. i know exactly how som feels. while there are frequently serious requests for prayers and pd, sometimes some of the requests are a little silly.

life is too short to be too serious. jmho.

I don't know, CC. The two threads on the front page currently are a brain tumor, and a kid who has been in PICU for quite awhile. I think that folks have the right to be offended, just as he has the right to post his opinions.

No it wasn't Caity. As one of the people who started the thread up top, it was started for people who wanted to be put on a prayer/good thought list. It wasn't started to "clean up" the CB. It states clearly on that thread that people could and should continue to post on the CB as they wish.

Tough if someone like SoM or anyone else doesn't like it. Then they don't need to read the "prayer request" threads. That's exactly what is said, and what I say, about and to the people complaining about the debate threads.

Maybe now people will understand why some, and notice I said some, people think that some of the "DB people" have a reputation for being nasty.

well, far be it from me to say i know what SOM was thinking of, but in the (not so distant) past there have been some prayer requests that were (imho) pretty ridiculous. everyone has a right to their own opinion, of course.

one thing i really enjoyed about the db was that it seemed to attract a certain kind of person...people who could laugh at themselves and were pretty thick-skinned, i guess. i think it was good for people like that on the dis to have their own place so we wouldn't offend some of the more sensitive (not meant to be a put down) people over here on the cb.

i think what some percieve as nasty is just an attempt at humour that some people find funny and others don't. (see my previous post).

thanks for the clarification though, maggie. i could have sworn i remembered a big bruhaha about this issue awhile back, but maybe i am confusing it with the birthday and congratulations thing.
