Can you freakin believe it???!!!! :Pinkbounc I work in an elementary school in a very wealthy community and one of our kid's dad has been working with Phil Collins on the Tarzan score. So today, we find out that he's coming into our school, but everything is kind of hush-hush--no hoopla, etc. The day goes on as usual and I kind of forget about it. Well about 12:45 we get a call that yes, he's on his way. The plan was for him to go to the kid's (of the Dad whose friends with "PHIL") music class and just chat with the kids, etc. Well, it just so happens I'm really good friends with the music teacher so I got to sit in on the whole thing. He sang (solo except for piano) "You'll be in My Heart", another song from Tarzan that didn't make the cut and a little of "In the Air Tonight". He also talked a lot, answered questions, etc. and was generally just a real cool guy! :cool2: He's quite short with a slight build, but that voice blew us away. We were all looking at each other like "are we really in this room with Phil Collins singing for us?" A very surreal moment. Thanks for letting me share :cloud9:

That's AWESOME!!! Did you get to talk with him at all? Get his autograph? Ask him what the heck SSSSuu SssssU Ssudio means????

LOL! I shook his hand and introduced myself. I had to go back to work (I work in the front office) before he was done so my co-worker could get her brush with fame, so I didn't get to take a pic or ask for an autograph, etc. But ya know.....that would've been a great question to ask. I wish I had thought of it. ;)

That is so cool! Listening to Phil collins sing in music class. Of course, I'm sure the kids must have been like Phil who? Oh yeah. That Tarzan song!

I met Robert Plant once when I was working at a kinda famous blues-type record store. I walked up to him, extended my hand and said "I heard you wanted my autograph." He looked at me blankly. I don't know who was the bigger moron. Him or me.
But that's my brush with fame...I offered Robert Plant my autograph. :smooth:

You're right! The kids were "sort of" interested, but in a polite kinda way while all the adults were hanging on every word. I think it would have meant more to older kids (or even to just the teachers and staff) than to 3rd graders. It was still cute, though.

I'M JEALOUS! I LOVE PHIL COLLINS!!! I've gone to 4 of his concerts and 2 concerts when he was in Genesis. He's quite the ball of energy in concert thats for sure!

Lucky you!

Is he still the only person to play a concert on two different continents on the same night? (original Live Aid in London and in Philly)

Don't quote me on this - but I'm 99.9% positive that he was the only one. He flew the concord and the crowd went NUTS when he came out! :thumbsup2

That's so awesome!!

I can just imagine having one of my DD's tell me that Phil Collins came to their school to talk/sing to them. I probably wouldn't believe them and would talk to them about telling lies! :rotfl:

Oh yeah! That would be me too!! I'd probably ground my DS too thinking he made up a fantastic lie because he knows I LOVE Phil Collins! Even my Mom (Rest her special soul) recognized his voice on the radio & would say to me "you're favorite singer is on...!"

On a side note...being that my Mom knew how much I LOVE Phil Collins, the day she passed away & I finally left the hospital (I stayed with her & held her hand for about 2 hours after she crossed over), I got in my car to drive home & Phil Collins was on the radio "you'll be in my heart...." I just felt so sure that was a sign from her.

Anyway...what a great story that was about meeting Phil Collins. Thanks so much for sharing!! I know how exciting it is...I used to work in a Brokerage Firm in Beverly Hills, CA & I can't tell you all the famous people I got to meet (in my other life....). Some of my broker friends would tell me to even just bring in an empty file to their office if I wanted to meet them. I thought that was pretty cool. Now I'm a frumpy old housewife/mother, living in the northeast of America & don't get to meet anyone famous anymore. :guilty:

I know this is :offtopic: but I just had to respond to this. This post really touched me because I believe in those "coincidences" in life that let us know that things are going to be all right. This seems like one of those wonderful times.
