Yeah! Finally got AKL conceirge!

Just have to vent...I've been changing my AKL savannah view room w/ AP rates to concierge day by day. I got 6 out of the 7 days and have been calling daily...sometimes a couple times a day for weeks and I finally got the last...or should I say first day of our reservation w/ 12 days to go! I've never stay concierge and I'm very excited!!!! To all those out there trying to get the ressie they want....persistence does pay off!!!!!!

Congratulations! You will just love the AKL! The concierge room, in my opinion, is the best at Disney! Nice view of that incredible lobby.

JESW--Thanks...Not to chance the subject BUT....I was trying to talk DH into POLY for August, I'd like DD to experience a monorail resort, she is 7. I was initially going to do either YC or BC b/c of SAB (thinking summer heat). DH thinks Poly is "cheesy"...his words not mind. I remember loving it as a kid but have not stayed in years...like 20 yrs. I don't want to feel like the return of the Brady Bunch. From your post it looks like you have stayed at both Poly and YC...which did you like better and why? Is Poly cheesy? Has it been updated recently? Thanks!

mep319 - If you are not sure which resort to choose, then do what we do - spilt your stay! We did it for the first time in June by splitting the AKL and then BWI. In November we'll be at the Polynesian for 4 nights and then 4 nights at the YC. It's like two separate vacations! When we are at the Polynesian we will only go to the MK and the AK. When we go over to the YC we'll hit EPCOT and MGM. Our kids are 4 & 8.

Is the Polynesian "cheesy"? Well, I'm not sure! It's tropical in theming, and the closeness of the MK is great. The monorail is a lot of fun, the pool is great for kids, the water parade at night IS cheesy but it's great to watch the MK fireworks from the beach.

By splitting your stay you get a taste of two VERY different resorts. Our family's favorite park is EPCOT so we love the YC area for it's closeness to that park. We love that area at night and walking or taking the ferry to EPCOT (and MGM) is great.

In my opinion you can't go wrong at either resort, but it's all a matter of personal taste. I never imagined staying at the Contemporary ( I'm the one who thinks THAT place is cheesy ) but DH has ALWAYS wanted to stay there so we'll try it out next April.
