YC Renovations???

We'll be heading to the YC during the second half of our 8 day stay starting next week

I haven't seen any updates as to the construction going on at the YC -- anyone back recently with info?

We are just back from BC(May 29-June 4). It looked like a lot of rooms in the central part of YC facing the lake and Boardwalk were being worked on. A large part of the exterior in that area was covered by plastic sheeting so you couldn't sit out in the area with the rocking chairs and such. Well, I guess you could, but all you would see is the hanging sheets of plastic. It looked like they must not be using a lot of the rooms.

I was at the YC June 1 to 3. I concur, many of the water view rooms are probably not available due to the painting going on. The plastic sheeting does a good job of hiding the scaffolding. The renovations in no way disrupted our stay.

Thanks for the update. We've never been to the YC before and understand that maintenance must go on and there is no "perfect" time. We do have a water view reservation so I'll be interested to see where we end up -- no matter where -- we'll be at WDW!!!

Just a hint Princess'Mom2- We had a water view room too. When checking in I asked if we could get an upgrade. The CM repied
'We already have you in one of our finest rooms'.
I said 'Concierge?'
He said, 'Yes, I can give you concierge priveleges.'
Yippee!
We weren't on the fifth floor where the concierge rooms are located but we got that special key that allowed us to get to the floor and use the lounge and partake of the concierges' services. It was wonderful.
Give it a try when you're there. If you ask for Concierge and are told no rooms are available ask if you can have Concierge priveleges. Frankly, I didn't even know they could do this!
I ask for an upgrade whenever I am staying in a hotel. 9 times out of 10 I get it for non-Disney property. Disney only a few times and never to concierge!
