What is the Concierge at the YC like? Is it as nice as the one at the Poly? Is it worth the extra money?

Wow! What GREAT pictures! Who did your husband order the flowers and the snack baskets from? They're BEAUTIFUL! Thanks!

Glad you liked the pictures. He ordered everything from the WDW Florist. Would you believe that snack basket only cost $20?

I have stayed at both YC and BC concierge... you would think they were same but they were not.. BC employees were much friendlier, food was ok.. YC employees not as friendly and food was better, and the strange part was it was the same food, I do not get that.. .....so I would go with the YC food and just get what I needed from the castmembers when I had to... like making ressies etc..

We stayed at the yc concierge in 2001, and though it is really nice it is only worth about $50/night more. We got a code discount for conc. and it really didn't cost any more than a dc discount rate for a standard. Making ps was nice, but we stayed at a standard bc this year and the people at the front desk was just as helpful.

We just got back from a week at YC concierge and we loved it. The concierge staff we had during our stay was great. They were all nice and very helpful. The only thing I didnt care for was they have no bottled water--only 1 big glass bottle that stays in the lounge--we wanted to take some water to the park. And the other thing was you have to ask for soda's. They will give you as many as you want but I hated having to ask all the time. We didnt make any ps ressies thru them, actually only made 1 ps at Tony's myself when we arrived at the park. I think its worth it if you can get a good disc, I wouldnt stay there on rack rates.

You could have asked for a bottle of the water to take back to your room. We did this every day.

Also the sodas were in the cabinet, we were told to just open the door and get what we wanted. The only time we asked for soda was when the kind we wanted wasn't in the cabinet.

We also just returned from a stay there and the original question was.....is it as nice as the Poly? is it worth the money?

my answers are NO.

but let me explain why I think that....first our view was the best of any hotel we have ever had but the 4th floor right below us had the same view. The YC Conc staff was friendly but we did not use them for anything. I felt the food was limited and not very exciting. there were too many donuts and cake all day.....and they were not very fresh. I would have liked to see more variety at the dinner time. I could see where concierge is great for families.....snacks, breakfast etc.
We have no complaints but I would not spend the $70+ more a night for it.
but at I would spend the extra money for the Poly concierge in a minute. They offered COLD sodas and COLD waters to take to the park. We spent $10 a day on water alone. Plus the food selections seemed fresher and more variety. There is a chef actually cooking the food at the Poly and the YC was microwaveable food and never very good.
This is just my opinion........the food/water at the Poly wins in my book.
Have fun !!!!!!:smooth:

oh......the Poly has fridges in the room too.
that is handy for storing waters/sodas. The YC did have a mini bar but we did not even open it.

We did really enjoy the YC and the rooms were beautiful. I was very excited to stay on the concierge level and I am glad we had that experience.

But we both really liked the Polynesian concierge better. ;)

Josierac.......we did ask for bottled water and we were told all they had was the large glass bottle we saw on the counter. I wanted smaller plastic bottles to take with us. The only kept a few hot soda's in the lounge cabinet. Most of the time there were none in there, they kept going to storage room to get the soda's when we asked--they must have had a fridge in there b'cause those were always cold.

Deena,
yes they did away with the small bottles but so have most other concierge. I wouldn't be surprised if after the rehab at the Polynesian concierge next summer they will only have the large bottles (I am sure it's more cost effective for Disney).

Sorry you had such a problem with the sodas, we always found the cabinet full with the sodas and they were always cool (not cold as it's not refrigerated).
