Yay! Tell me about May at WDW

So assuming we pass ROFR, we had added on at BWV. Of course then we'll need to add an additional trip to WDW! May seems to be the most logical month for us but having never visited in May I need some information. I know to avoid Memorial Day....what else should I know...

For the rest of the month, crowds are usually great and the flower and garden festival is going on. On the negative side, there can be love bugs and the weather is starting to get hot. I personnally, love going in May.

Thanks Donald#1. Does the Flower Festival cause the EPCOT resorts to fill up quickly (like Food and Wine)? We both travel from the Northeast, historically has airfare been reasonable. I know all bets are off with airfare these days but we typically fly in "low" seasons and am wondering if there's a significant difference? Love bugs.....uggggh.....shared our Sept vacation with a kazillion of them one year. They can be oppressive when they're in "full bloom". Thanks for all of the info........Go Sox!

We were just there last month in the beginning of May. The weather and crowds were great. Epcot was crowded but not crazy. We loved May so much just booked another trip for May 3-7 2009 in a grand villa at Old Key West. You will love May. Tracy

Flower & Garden Festival doesn't stress the Epcot DVC resorts like Food & Wine Festival does (you have better chances of getting into BCV/BWV), and we find May to be one of our 3 favourite months to go (along with October and December).

We have added on at BCV for other reasons, but BCV is where we like to stay for F&G, and I've been always able to change our BWV reservations to BCV for the F&G and we usually go the first week in May.

PS. We've also been to the Mother's Day brunch at Epcot and we thought it was wonderful. Good food, Mary Poppins and Bert are the characters, and a very nice souvenir picture. DMom isn't able to travel to WDW any more, and I'm so glad it was one of her last trips..celebrating mothers day!

DW and I went this past May and loved it. We went from May 11 - May 18 and it got hot the last few days of our trip. The crowds were moderate and we had a great time overall. May is why we have an April UY.

The first week in May is one of our regular times we visit WDW. We love it.

We have been visiting the World every May since 2002 except for this year. The weather and crowds aren't bad. Two of the reasons we love May so much are the International Flower and Garden Festival and Star Wars Weekends (now moved to June). Annmarie

Early May is our favorite time to go in the first half of the year. Sometimes it can be hot, but usually the weather's great, and crowds aren't bad.

Late April early May is great. We did a Land/Sea package this year and the weather and crowds were fine.

We were just at BCV May 4-10...it was pretty warm (upper 80's), not a drop of rain. The crowds were a little heavier than I had anticipated, but totally manageable. From what I heard from other posters, it seems that the following week was better with crowds but it did rain a bit.

Overall....I will totally go in May again. (we saw only a few love bugs)

May is a great time! In 2007, we went the last couple of days of April and the first few days of May. We stayed at BCV, in a studio, booked only about 4 1/2 months out.

This year we went May 18-23, staying at SSR in a 1 BR, also booked 4-5 months out.

Both trips were great. The weather is good (although we had two scorching hot days this year), and the crowds are not bad. Downsides were that there were a LOT of rides in rehab at MK this year, but we were walking on Peter Pan and Haunted Mansion all week. Also walked on Mission Space every time and walked right into Turtle Talk with Crush, but had to FastPass Soarin' and Test Track.

We love May too. This year we went the 3rd week of April instead. And boy did we regret it. We have always found the crowds and weather to be great the first two weeks of May.

Hey Tracey, maybe we will see you. I just booked a GV at OKW today for May 3-9. YIPPEE!!!! This will be my first trip taking my DGD, who will be three and a half.

LOVE the May Flower and Garden festival! In fact, I am ready to book next May's trip next week. We will do a 1 week trip in May in a 1 bedroom at OKW because we wont be sharing it with anyone!

I'll be booking next May's trip next week too! This is later than we usually go, but we've planned a Memorial Weekend DCL cruise with our family, with the BCV beforehand!

We were in a 2bd at SSR for May 9-16th this past May and we loved it! The time of year is great and the Flower festival is very cool! The love bugs were pretty bad when we were there, but you just swat at them! We had a couple of hot days of around 90, but we stayed inside at DisneyQuest that day.

I think I am more worried about my Oct trip and how hot that one will be! We are trying to get another week through interval for a 2bd at OKW, BCV,BWV, or VWL for Sept 27-Oct 4, not sure if we will get it or not.

speaking of May I just booked our BWV boardwalk view studio for May 3 to 8. 2009 this morning with no problems allat once.

We have went May 19 -26 for a few years, then this year the first week of May, we loved it so much, I just finished booking next years trip for the first week of May 09. The crowds and weather are great.

We love going in early May! We are going in early December this year and then back in May! The crowds and the weather really are nice at that time of year!
