Yay or Nay?

Yay! It is a must. I am TOTALLY bummed when someone subs out green bean casserole for like green beans with slivered almonds or just plain green beans. I'd rather just not have any green beans at all than not have it in a casserole with onion crunchies on top. I make mine from scratch. No soup can base for my casserole.

I like plain green beans but not on Thanksgiving dude!

I'm the opposite - I like green bean casserole, but not on Thanksgiving! Too many goopy things on my plate already at that meal. I'd rather have it at a more normal meal where it's the treat, not just another rich thing on my plate.

I'm a YAY all the way.

But my husband and daughter would rather starve than touch it. Asked hubby (we are on a road trip) and his comment was "it's not an attractive meal".

He prefers sweet potato casserole and that dish grosses me out.

I love it! but not part of this year's menu. I plan to make grilled asparagus and if I make another veggie it will probably be steamed green beans or broccoli with cheese(dd#2 fav) .

To the lady from NY who grew up in an italian neighborhood...I can soooo relate. The first time I told my mom that I loved asparagus, she presented fried asparagus to me at the next holiday. That time I didn't have the heart to tell her I don't like it fried- I love it steamed, baked or grilled. Fried just disguised the taste. Now, MIL used to make cauliflower fritters for xmas eve along with all the shrimp- and those I loved!

I still keep a can of green beans or sliced beets in the fridge for a quick side- mix with balsamic vineagrette and I'm in heaven! DD#2 is my veggie lover and she loves green beans that way- but thinks beets are just weird!

NAY! Especially if it involves canned soup. My mom made one last year from scratch and it was fine, much better in fact, but still not my thing. I guess I don't like the combo of green beans in a cream sauce. I like most other things in a cream sauce but not that.

I do like it, but don't prepare it very often. If it's on the buffet at the restaurant we're going to on Thanksgiving, I will have some there.

Nay. I have never eaten and probably never will. I don't care for mushrooms for one. Also, I can't get past the way this dish looks. It does not look like something that would be appetizing.

We do sauteed green beans with bacon and gorgonzola.
Blows GBC right out of the water!

It's nay here! I use to make it and I like it, but my DH and the kids hate it.

We just serve a tray of fresh cut veggies with dip. Our family loves fresh raw veggies, pickles, and olives for Thanksgiving.

With DH's family it is a must at holidays.

Growing up, I never had it until DH and I started dating. At grandmas house you had two veggie's to choose from: corn or creamed lima beans. Seeing as I wouldn't touch the 2nd choice with a 10 ft pole, I ate a lot of corn.

Today, if you come to our house, you have either corn or GBC to choose from.

I hate mushrooms, but there are several dishes that call for cream of mushroom soup that I can eat. I think with mushrooms, as a whole, it's the texture that I dislike, so if they are chopped so small I can't actually bite into it, I am ok with it.

Yah here. It was one of the first things my DD learned to make completely on her own so of course we have to have it every Thanksgiving and she still has to make it.

We'll probably have it here too, but only DD & I like it. DD makes it & I think I'll ask if she'll put an extra can of french style green beans in so it isn't so "sloppy". Or maybe suggest we don't bother & put the $$ into a vegetable we'll all eat! Or forget it alltogether & make more pie...

I vote for more pie!!!:cool1:

Love it for Thanksgiving and my DD is sure to make a side dish for me!
