*yay* Jenny has a better job now.

What are your hours?
How many days do you work?
And is it like a 'summer job' or just to get outta the house now you've graduated?

Sorry,I'm just REALLLLLLLLY nosey. :) ;)
I wanted to get a job this past summer but with my health and the fact no one here can work under the age of 16,it didn't go so well.
I love answering questions! :)

I'm supposed to work about 25 hours a week but I'm soon going to ask the manager if I can cut it down to 20. My schedule this week was 11:30 - 4:30 which was great because I could still get to see my family during the evening. I worked Friday and am also working tomorrow. It just depends how many days they schedule me but I hope they keep it in 5 hour shifts.

This is a job just so I can do something with myself. It's pretty boring just hanging around the house all day (I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.) I was going psycho! I don't need the money, but it won't hurt to start on a savings account. It will eventually add up into something substantial.

I have a tip about getting a job though (once you're 16). What you need to do is get out there. Just have someone drive you around town and stop at everywhere that perks your fancy. Ask if they're hiring and then ask for an application. If it's a restaurant then go take a table and fill it out right then and there. When you go to turn it in ask if the manager is there and then ask HIM if they're hiring and hand him the application personally. Then if they don't call you for a couple days call the manager back and say something like this... "Hi, my name is Sonya and I applied there a couple days ago and was wondering if you'd had a chance to look at it yet?" It will impress them and make your name stand out. They literally get hundreds of applications. And most of the time, you'll have a job within a couple of days.

Anymore questions? :)

Thanks for the tips!

Is it like a mom and pop pizza place? It sounds like it, the owners sound incredibly nice. You got lucky.
What's your 'title'? Are you a waitress, or cashier, or just do what they tell you to do?

Sorry, I hit the post button before I could finish.
Did you also have a resume on anything like monster.com or something similar? Or is that not for first-time jobs.

Hah,I bet you that Walmart manager will call you back soon and say they could realllllly use you.
Oops, sorry, you were too slow. Sucks for them,I wanted to embarrass you at Walmart. ;)

No, it's a chain I think. CiCi's Pizza. But I've been going there since I was a toddler and my family knows the owners of the franchise and such. They basically know us by name when we go in there.

My title...hm. Front end person. I'll be doing salad bar this week but next week they're going to train me in organizing the pizzas. Oh, and cashier. It's really a whole team effort so we all help out each other.

Found out a better part. They don't make the girls clean anything! Well, except for sweeping and cleaning up the salad bar. But I mean mopping, cleaning off tables, dishes, bathrooms, etc. The yucky stuff. Woohoo.

Haha, yeah. I posted my resume everywhere! I actually got a call from an insurance company and red cross wanting to employ me. They didn't believe it when I said I was actually only 16. (There's not a place for age on resumes.) Haha!

Yeah, WalMart did tell me that they only hire so many minors at a time and that they were full. They said they'd call me whenever a position opened up. Right.

I have a resume on monster.ca (yeah I know this wasn't directed at me), but I don't have it up for employers to see really. It's just kind of.. there? xD
I'm only signed up on it so I could see who was hiring, and it wasn't helpful because most of the jobs on there are full time at rather professional places.
I mostly stick to looking at the job listings on the national Job Bank website.
