Well, I was warned about Wednesdays at V&A usually being unavailable, and V-Day is no exception. Alas, it is blacked out for the Chef's Table.

BUT I had already scored it for Feb 6th, so no regrets!! Happy happy

I DID tell DH about it....so we will be suit shopping for him. Fun times for all.

Anyway- I have a quick question for the foodies out there. I do like wine. I drink about once every 10 years, but I am going with the pairings for our dinner since I want the whole experience and I think that is part of it.

DH, on the other hand, is NOT a wine drinker under any circumstances. For our wedding, he choked down 2 sips of a sparkling wine just to make me happy, and ended up with heartburn.

He is more of a Jack Daniels and Coke kind of guy, although he too drinks about once a decade. Now, I did tell him that I did not think whiskey and coke would be a good choice of dinner beverage, as personally, I think it would kill the taste of the food. I also do not think I would recommend plain soda.

My thought was water with maybe a lemon wedge during dinner, and then a drink after? What do the expert foodies here recommend?? Any opinion is welcome and appreciated.

I have not eaten at VAs, but have been to many dinners along those lines, and to be honest, I can't handle wine pairings! I like a glass or two, but anymore and I a) get really full and b) start to get a little too tipsy to really know what I'm eating!

I think water, sparkling or not, or even iced tea is more that fine. VAs is about really enjoying the food. For some people that means wine, but lots of others it doesn't :) Your DH should do what he'll think he'd enjoy the most, no one will think less of him :)

2Princes2Princesses....

I was searching threads looking for a thread that I had previously posted info about the V & A Chef's table for someone else and ran into your thread. Sorry that I didn't see it before.

You don't have to do the wine pairings for both of you. I recall that I set it up for my husband and not me...because I only like dry, white wine that isn't oaky or fruity. It takes my husband who is a wine collector at least 30 mins in each restaurant just to find me a good glass or bottle....and I only drink maybe 2 glasses if he's lucky. He LOVES to do pairings.

There were two weeks of "Restaurant Week" here in Boston this past month and each fix prixe meal came with a wine pairing. I passed.....he tasted.

So I say - add it to your own and let your DH have his Jack Daniels! It's a wonderful meal - you'll have a wonderful time. Enjoy. The pairings will include red/white and sweet vs dry.....which is why I passed.

The V & A Chef's table was absolutely the best dining experience we've ever had at WDW and we've sampled pretty much every restaurant - twice. We're foodies.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks so much. I may be only sipping the wines, I have to be careful, since I honestly drink about once every 2 years...my last drink was a sip of margarita at DTD in May.

DH is so excited about this dinner. We really cannot wait. I told him we would have to be sure to take pictures of everything for the DIS. :thumbsup2

We have drooled over Mr. D and Kevin's pics many times, so we feel like we owe it to the DIS to get some drool worthy pictures.

I do have one question, I have heard that in the kitchen, men may remove their jackets if they wish, but have to put them back on if they go to the men's room or walk through the dining room for any reason, and that we would be escorted. Are they allowed to remove it? I am always freezing, but DH gets warm fast. He is one of those who can still wear shorts when it is 40 degrees and be comfortable. I told him I think he can if he gets too toasty, but I would ask to make sure.

Thank you again for the help. This will not only be our first CT visit, but it will be our first dinner without at least one of the kids since May of 2005.
