Two years ago, DH opened a new Discover card before our WDW trip - simply because they had an offer to get $250 back when you spent $1000. We ordered our tickets on the card, paid it off, and got $250 free. Cool!

We haven't used the card since then.

Just this week he gets a new card in the mail, and an offer for $100 back when making $2000 purchases. We use a card to pay for gas and our cable bill each month, so between that and our upcoming trip, we'll hit that $2000 in purchases within the date for the offer.

I'll certainly take an extra $100 for doing the same thing we were already doing! That pays for a character meal for us!

The research done by the credit card companies indicate that people use their cards more often when there is an incentive program. They are more than happy to put up with people like yourselves that don't change their spending habits in order to gain the revenue from people who do. It's a win-win for both of you.

We use are discover card for everything. We LOVE it. I can't even tell you how much money back we've received in the last 15 years.

Every quarter they have an offer to earn 5% on certain items/store. You
have to call or sign up on-line for these deals, you are not enrolled automatically so make sure you do this.

We pay the card off every month and I've never paid a penny in interest yet they keep giving us money!
The best part is that now my nieces and nephews are older and all they want are either gift cards or money. So, I'm able to get them gift cards with my reward money. They are shipped free and I don't have to go shopping.

We got an offer for an extra $500 cash back if we make $3000 in charges each month April-August. Now for a lot of people that won't work but DH owns a semi and puts $4000-$5000 in fuel in it each month. We are putting $3000 on the Discover each month, and when he hits that mark, switching back to the 2% Capital One fuel card the rest of the month to maximize benefits. Cards are paid in full every month.

We will have a good chunk of our Disney package paid for with cash back, probably about $1200 of it.
