YAY! Finally a member after 8 yrs of trying to convince hubby!

I have been trying to convince my hubby for many many years that I think DVC is a great deal! I love Disney and would love to go there every year.

After we stayed in OKW in Dec and our SSR stay, he fell in love with it too. Not as much so on our SSR stay- he didn't like the living area- too small.

But we saw the AKV models and LOVED THEM! We bought 300 points! We got a fantastic deal too, or at least I think so. We got 300 SSR points for free (no maintenance fees that is), 300 June 2008 UY AKV points that cannot be used til they open, and then 300 points going forward. The 2008 pts for AKV will only have 1 month of MF's since they are not expecting it to open til May next year. so we got 600 points for $117.75.

I am very happy with our decision to purchase. Now I need to find the AKV tag to put in my signature! (I figured it out! YAY again!)

Well, the purpose is to get a Grand villa every other year. With 300 every year, we should be able to do it.

Shortypots- Forget about visiting every other year. With 300 points, you can visit almost every other month if you avoid weekends and stay in a Studio. We have 360 points and that allows us 5-6 visits a year. Yes, we DO go that often!!!

I don't think I could ever get hubby to go that often, and with gas prices skyrocketing, I think every other year taking my entire family of 12 (brothers, sister and their kids) would be a lot of fun!

Anyone know how I can add a picture of the AKV's to my signature? I have tried a couple of times and can't get it to work.

At first my DH seemed very intrigued by AKV, and I thought it was beautiful. However we are a bit concerned it's a bit too heavy on the safari theming and it might get old. He likes the pics of OKW, and even though I love beach/ocean I am not fond of the decor. I really liked the decor/furnishings of SSR but something seems a bit flat overall. If only I could pick and choose and put it all in one, LOL!

We stayed in AKV just one night and came home and added on 50 points! This is our 5th contract after all the add-ons (which are all at BWV - our home resort), except this one. I am very happy, even with just 50 points because it will allow me to do a 3 night stay in a studio every year during the Easter Break (which I have off for at work). And that's perfect! I can just do the three nights with a friend, or come down with my family for a week and split the stay between AKV and BWV (our fav)! It's perfect!

I had been getting the promo CD for years adn DH would not even watch it. Then 1 trip to WDW and a look at AKV showroom and he was sold! 200 points at AKV

Hahaha! Sounds very familiar, but ours was a 1 week stay at OKW in a 1 bd, and he loved it! Then he saw AKV models and was definitely sold! He wanted to do 250 pts, but I talked him into 300 knowing that we would love it and want to add on later anyway.

Sure did! We are indeed looking forward to our first stay, but it looks like it won't be until at least Jan 2010. We have a 3 week trip to Hawaii planned next year for our 10th wedding anniversary. Kinda makes it tough to go to Disney too.
