I'm so excited-I finally made ressies today for the BCV December 14-18. I know that's a pretty short trip, but it's my end of semester "mental health" solo trip, just a few days of peace and quiet. But now I'm thinking of all the great things I can do in December-since I've never gone at that time of year before, I'll be able to see the Candlelight Processional, Holiday storytellers in the different countries, Donald's Christmastime breakfastosauras (if I can get the courage to do a solo character meal), the Yuletide Tour (or whatever it's named, where you see the different Christmas decorations). Can you think of anything else? Is there a chance of me being there when they film the Christmas parade for TV (I heard they film it early-it's not really live that day)? That would almost be too much to hope for.

Congrats to you:bounce: we are going just before xmass, we try to go every year at hat time it is sooo wonderful:earseek: Have a great time!!

I'm glad you got your ressie! Be sure you make it to MGM to see the Osborne Lights. They are really spectacular. We also had a good time doing a little resort hopping to see the different Christmas decorations. The GF is very nice, with a lifesize gingerbread house, etc. The WL was beautiful too.

A mental health solo trip sounds just wonderful. Have you done that before?

I plan to do 2 days solo at Christmastime before my extended family arrives. First time being at Disney solo, though it won't be for much time really.

Have a terrific time! :D

You're probably too late for the taping of the parade. It was taped on Dec 6 in 2001 and Dec 7 in 2002.

The Christmas Tree lighting ceremonies at MK and Epcot are nice to see. I think it's about 5:30 at MK and 5:50 at Epcot.

And don't forget MVMCP. There should be one or maybe two parties during the time you are there. I'd go to that by myself - it's the only way to see the MK's Christmas parade until just before Christmas, plus you get to see the special fireworks!

Enjoy yourself!

I just made reservations yesterday for BCV December 14-19. DH, DD, and friend will be going with us. DD will be a college freshman and semester ends 12/11. First time we've been in December although DH and I got to see some of the Christmas decorations last November.

Maybe we'll see you there.

Donna

That's such a coincidence-I also was there last November. Did you stay at BCV? I did, going to the AP preview of the Osborne Lights. That was my last solo trip. I've gone solo 5 times now (yikes, even I didn't know it was that many til I just added it up!), in December it will be the 6th. Actually we used to only own at VWL, but after I went to BCV last November, I started plotting how to convince DH to add on 100 BCV points so I could get the 11 month window there. He's never stayed at BCV-completely in love with OKW and won't even consider moving anywhere else. So I guess I just "have" to go twice a year (LOL), if I want to stay anywhere else.
BTW, I have a DS who's a college sophomore, but I don't think he'll be with me.

Congratulations! I made ressie for a studio at BCV for Nov 30- Dec 4. I may try for a 1BR at VWL at 7 months though. It'll be my first Christmas time visit as well. I hope to bring my father with me this time, if I can't get him to come, I might be going on my first solo trip!

Simba's Mom, My DH and I were at BCV from Nov 11-15 for our first adult only trip to WDW and first DVC trip home. Wasn't it great to be so close to Epcot for the F&W Festival? Do you just have one son? Besides my DD, age 18, we have a DS, age 21, but he's not into travelling with Mom and Dad right now. Have a good trip in December!

Donna

Unfortunately, I've never been able to go for the Food and Wine Expo, tho I'd love to some year. However, I was there for the Osborne Lights AP Preview. Got 2 DSs, 20 and almost 23yo. Won't get a DD til someone gets married (hopefully several more years!)

Simba's Mom......Congrats on your new ressie ! I will be checking "OUT" of the BWV on December 11th, so I'm sorry I won't get to run into you. I choose a one-bedroom for my solo trip because I really want to relax in that jacuzzi tub just before getting into bed. I rented points. The one-bedroom unit makes it a true mental health retreat. Did you get a one bedroom also ?

Donna,

I'm wondering what you thought of the crowds during the F & W festival. We're going for our first trip home to BCV November 7-14 and I see that the festival will be going on then. Is it really crowded? Personally, I'm looking forward to it since my parents are coming with us, maybe they'll offer to watch our tots while my husband and I take in some of the great food and wine in the evening.

Thanks,

Deb

We just had our first experience staying in a 1 BR at HHI as a couple. I was so overwhelmed by the increased space (loved it!), but I don't think I'm ready for a 1 BR on a solo trip. Studio at BCV.

Deb, We went into Epcot during the week and didn't have any trouble with crowds. A couple of the more popular food/wine booths had 3-4 people in line but they moved quickly. It was a great time to go. Weather was very warm the first 2 days which I loved--shorts and t-shirts. Then it rained one evening and turned cooler which DH loved. I had to put a sweatshirt on early a.m. and evening but still got to soak up some sun during the afternoon at the pool. Have fun!
