I am having a yard sale next weekend to hopefully make some money for our Disney trip and clean sweep our home. I have an Eddie Bauer double stroller that is in good condition, only used a few times because it was really hard to get it in and out of the trunk of our car. As I recall, it cost about $200. Can anyone tell me what might be a good price to ask for it?

Thanks for any advise you can offer.
Carol

If you really want to get rid of it I would say ask $50, maybe take $40.

I have a PegPerego Twin Tender in "excellent" condition. They canopy covers are still in their plastic wrap, it didn't sell at my garage sale for $75.00 - actually no one even made an offer. It is a $300+ stroller.

Now, it also depends on what people are looking for. Sometimes people are out early looking for baby items, other times the baby stuff doesn't sell.

Good luck with the yard sale. Hope you make lots of Disney$$$:D

I find that if you have an item that you would like to get more money from, either advertise it in your paper, or sell it on E-Bay. We just had a yard sale yesterday, and even though it was a success, we found that people just don't want to pay for anything. They will nickle and dime you all the way. I pulled out the stuff that I know I can get a decent price for and will be listing it on E-Bay instead.

When I had baby things to sell, I advertised them in our local Pennysaver and sold them all that way.

I once hear that you can expect to get about 10% of the cost of an item when you sell it at a yard sale. You may do better at a childrens consignment shop.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I may try the consignment shop approach. It would be very expensive to ship to an eBay I am sure - that thing is heavy!

Thanks again,
Carol

I sold my double stroller thru ebay- pick up only and made some nice cash. alot of my heavier baby items were sold that way. good luck

As a rule of thumb, yard sale prices are usually set at about 10% of the new price. Add a bit more for an item that's genuinely new, take away a bit for an item that's had more than its share of use.

You'd probably get more for this double stroller if you put it on ebay; however, then you have to deal with packaging it and mailing it. A consignment store is also an option, though that means they'll set the price and keep about 50%.

I'd put it in the yard sale, mark it $40, expect to get $30.

The good thing is baby items like these (strollers, car seats, beds, ect.) always sell good, at least for me. There are always people like grandparents who like to have these item for there visiting grandkids.

I always price big ticket stuff like these for 1/4 of the orignal price or more and they are some of the first things that sell.

For high-end baby merchandise, esp the name brand stuff, you will probably do better at a baby resale or consignment shop. They love getting "nice" stuff and as many posters mentioned before a yard/gargage sale is not where you are going to sell expensive baby merchandise most likely. Good luck!
