Stronger scented than the 22 oz. Housewarmers!

I went out today and bought a tart warmer and 4 tarts to start off (since I didn't know how I'd like them) Clean Cotton, Wedding Day, Roses of Cliff Walk, and Pineapple Paradise!

With the tarts, you can easily sample different ones without breaking the bank! No big loss if you end up not caring for the scent!

I've found a new obsession!:p

Uhhh, Blondie, did I start your obsession with YC by sending you the Lavendar Fields candle? I was hoping to do that. :teeth:

The tarts are the way to go, for sure. I rarely buy a housewarmer, I get sick of the scent after awhile and need a change. Unless is Seaside Holiday, which is my favorite, or Green Grass, I own a few of those in housewarmers, but mostly tarts for me!

I think the best part about the tarts are just what you said....you can sample the different scents before you buy. I know there have been a few times when I think I will love the scent, only to find the opposite when I put them in my tart warmer. I have found that some of these last much longer than others.

Did you get an electric tart warmer or a "tea candle" one?? I am thinking about getting an electric one since I go through so many tea candles.

Karen, I was looking through my YC catalog a few mins ago, and it says: do not use in electric potpourri pots or with scented tea lights.

Oh, and I got the tea light warmer, the girl in the store said she preferred it over the electric when I asked.

I have an electric tart warmer that has a bulb in the bottom that does the heating, and a "pitcher" like dish on top, you can use the tarts in those. I think when they suggest not electric, they mean the ones that look like a minature crock pot, that plug in. The tarts are great, just wish the scent lasted a little longer in them, but believe me, when I plug my in, you can smell it all over. I love Pineapple Paradise! I'm getting ready for the fall scents. YC stores don't have it, but some of the gift shops have a new one called Blueberry Muffin....yummmmy, and I love the fall scents....my season is arrivin' !!

Also, I don't use Yankee tea lights in my candlelit tart warmer, sorry, they are just too expensive. But if you do want to use them, they come in the scents of what you are burning in the tart dish, so you could in essense combine them. I buy the unscented tealights by the bag at WalMart, which is like 50 of them for a couple bucks. Also, the Dollar stores sell them for $1.00 a dozen.

I LOVED my tart warmer when I got it, until I realized that they lose their scent so fast. Someone here on the DIS had mentioned it in an older thread, and then when we went to the big Yankee Candle store, we asked about it, and we were told the scent only lasts through a couple of tea lights. Then you have to freeze the tart warmer then pop out the wax.

I still have my tart warm with an unused tart sitting in it, but for nightly use, I LOVE my big 22oz jar candles. I burn them almost every night so it's not as if I'm "stuck" with the same scent for a very long time. Also, I know my favorites, and alternate between them and seasonal scents that I like.

Now when I want to try a new scent I buy a votive first. For me, its the glow of the candle itself, as well as the scent, that I really enjoy :)

P.S. To the person who mentioned the Blueberry Muffin scent; where did you find that? A friend of mine in NJ had one and now back in Mass, I can't find that exact scent anywhere! I thought it smelled very good, much better than plain Blueberry.

Can anyone tell me what White Christmas and Fireside smell like?

Not to mention the tarts are one heck of a lot cleaner than those sooty jars.

White Christmas and Fireside are both uhhh, very Christmasy. Fireside having more of a pine scent, I think White Christmas has kind of a peppermint scent? Not exactly positive though, I don't really care for either of them so I never took complete notice.

I think I'm going to have to give away the Wedding Day! It's just too strong for my liking! :(

LOL....like my new tag :D

The YC exchange got me started on the tarts....thank you so much;)
But I do still like the big jars too....I just alternate use.
The tarts are a nice way to try new scents.

And I'm giving my friend a tart burner and some tarts when I see her Sunday....think she'll hate me? :D I started her on the Housewarmers and now she has a lot more than I do!!

The tarts say they last for 8 hours....

The tarts do have a stronger fragrance than the candles. The reason is because the flame on the wick burns the fragrance as the wax evaporates. The larger the flame, the less fragrance you get. That is why it's best to keep your wick trimmed down as much as possible. Since there is no flame near the melting wax of the tart you get the strongest and purest scent. :)

(I guess it shows that my store has been a Yankee retailer for years, huh? ;) )

The Blueberry muffin candle is one of my favorites! We have it in my store so you should be able to find it in any corporately owned Hallmark stores (stores named Amy's, Matthews' or Creations Hallmark)

Did anyone see Yankee Candle on QVC last week? They said the scents they had were exclusive to QVC. I saw a few sets of things that looked nice. :D

Wow Lauri....I never knew that is why is says to keep the wick at 1/4 inch!!!! I thought it was for safety purposes.

How about those "rings" that go over the rim of the jar. I think thay make it burn nicer, but I also think it takes away a lot of the scent.

Blondie...I got the Fireside tart and had to get rid of it...just didn't like it. I like the "clean and crisp" scents like BayBreeze. But then I'll take a nice Spiced Pumpkin in the fall....oh heck....I guess it's just the mood I'm in...LOL!!!!! :D :p :) :D :p :)

Another option is to do the votive candles - I agree - I get sick of the same scents over and over - and you can buy the votives in the 18 pack plastic clamshell and make your own variety!!!

(Now to go on another pilgramage to the Deerfield MA flagship store...)

RE: "White Christmas" - this is my favorite christmas scent - it is evergreen with light spice - it is not overpowering - and no mint!

"Fireside" - is supposed to be the scent of a wood-burning fire in the fireplace. Personally, I don't agree and don't care for it but I'm sure others like it.

P.S. I love the "Clean Cotton" scent too! (and try Spiced Pear for the fall)

tarts sound like a good idea..
haven't tried them yet..
big candles seem to take forever to burn sometimes...

I can't guarantee that this is 100% true but this is what we were told about the Blueberry Muffin scent--our Yankee Candle manager said that YC frequently has special scents that are only sold outside of their stores--that Hallmark, Linens and Things , Bed, Bath and Beyond usually carry YC and this is, hopefully, where you'll find these scents. Supposedly there are three scents right now--Ocean Water, Blueberry Muffin and ???? Sorry I can't remember the last name. Apparently, this is to give other stores an incentive to carry YC products--they have something that the YC stores don't. I stumbled upon one jar of Blueberry Muffin several months ago and that is all I've seen. I'm told it is very popular. The Ocean Water is a wonderful scent too.

I got blueberry muffin at the YC store.
It is in there special line called Country Kitchen.
:D and you're the one that got me acquainted to teh tarts!! Thank you, but my wallet says STOP!!

I love blueberry muffin too! My sil had one burning last weekend when we visited. I also use the tarts.... d.kurz I too find the candles sooty and messy. Besides, I get tired of a scent and I don't have room to store 6 or 7 partially burned candles. I have to stock up on Spiced pumpkin and Harvest for the fall and Christmas Eve for December!
