Have an ADR at Yak & Yeti for 5:30 this Sunday. About when would you estimate us leaving the restaurant? I'm trying to map out the day to try and get it all in.

Hi and :welcome: to the DIS!

It's really hard to say. It's a busy time of year at WDW so you may not be seated at 5:30. Also, do you like to do the quick "in and out" at a restaurant, or do you linger and space out your meal?

I'd allow somewherre between 45-90 minutes after being seated based on your answers to the questions.

The park closes at 7pm, so I guess it's safe to say that there will be no other activities for us after dinner, huh? Any suggestions on what is worth not doing (with DD's 3 & 8)? I'm guestimating about 30min for each attraction, except rides & shows. Do you think thats about right or should I allow more time?

We love the AK. There is so much to see that most people miss out on. For your kids I would suggest making sure you take them to see the Nemo show if they are fans. It's fantastic. Also the Festival of the Lion King is one of the best shows we've seen at WDW. Rafiki's Planet Watch is often overlooked by a lot of people, but it's a lot of fun. And we've been able to see some characters you don't often see like Jiminy Cricket, Pochahontas and Rafiki. The safari is a lot of fun, but it take a bit of time. I would probably allow more than 30 minutes for that. Dinosaur is really LOUD and very bumpy. At least one part of that ride can be sort of scary for some kids. You can find characters at Camp Minnie Mickey. And also It's Tough to be a Bug is a lot of fun, but it's also loud and can be scary for some kids. It's in 3d which is cool, but if your kids hate the dark and don't like loud things..it's one you can pass and come back to when they are older.

Hope this helps a little!

Thanks for the info! We're definately going to do Nemo & Lion King. DH & DD8 are doing Dinosaur. DD8 wants to be a vet & her favorite animal is a lion so the safari is #1 on our list. I guess you can tell from my questions this is our first trip to Disney :>) the girls are super excited.

Your daughter would love Rafiki's Planet watch then. They have so many things to see on animals and how they are cared for. Also they have a petting zoo for a little more hands on experience. Here's some information on it..

Also check out the Maharajah Jungle Trek. You can see lots of animals this way that you would normally miss out on - like tigers!

I'm sure you will have a fantastic time! :goodvibes

For us, the AK is not so much about rides and shows, although there are some great ones.
We enjoy far more the safari and the walking trails. The tigers are gorgeous, the apes are awesome, etc. 30 - 45 minutes is probably what I would plan.
I agree if DD8 wants to be a vet Rafiki's Planet Watch is a must for you. They even have an animal operating room on display.
Have a Great trip
