Yah or Nah to only using Disney transportation

I've never rented a car at Disney and only used Disney Transportation. Its not about the cost one bit. Disney is an escape from reality, I enjoy letting Disney take care of the transportation. I find it quite easy and convenient! :goodvibes

I have done it both ways but really LIKE not having to drive the whole week.. It kinda adds to the whole experience to me.. I feel like I'm in another world :)

Disagree. I'm impatient in Boston-area traffic. When some public transit person is doing the driving, not so much. You know, that whole "... grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change..." and all that ;)

True, but it's mostly the waiting for the buses [or any transit] that gets me, no matter where I am, I'm always staring at the time!

Disney Transportation all the way :cool1:
Like some of the other posters, my family + car + unfamiliar roads + parking = STRESS! Just the idea of piling the 4 tweens into a car and dealing with their arguing over who sits where is enough to make me shudder!
We loved forgetting the car and enjoying the "come what may" pace of using Disney transportation. No car, no internet, it was a great vacation!:woohoo:

Disney Transportation all the way! We've never rented a car. Last year we drove down, and left the car in the lot.

The only time we've had negative experiences with the buses was when we stayed at a value - it was crowded and noisy and the people were rude. Otherwise, we've had fine bus experiences!

We also don't like to drive to our dinners, since we like to have a bit to drink during dinner. Not in any shape to drive! :lmao:

DD and I went the week before Thanksgiving. We had a rental car, and used it twice....once for an early morning breakfast, once to go to DTD. It sat for the rest of our 11 day trip. We stayed at AKL and never really had to wait for busses, even at closing time or after fireworks. I regretted paying for that rental car. We'll never do that again.

However, since it was slow season, that would probably change if it was busy and we had to wait for a bus.

We drive down so we have a car but the last trip it never moved although we did wish we took it to DTD waiting for a bus there is crazy. We did get frustrated a few times but nothing beats letting someone else handle the trafficpopcorn::

Both - We typically use the buses to go to the parks in the am but prefer having a car to go to DTD and the waterparks. It was also nice to drive to the parks (except MK) in the evenings. Always found a great parking spot close to the front.

We like the flexibility.

Definitely a rental car!!!

It is the difference between leavng your resort 1hour and 30 min early to get to a resort dinner reservation on time....or leaving 25 min early.

We've never had a problem finding our way around ....the signs are pretty easy. We take the GPS with us though to find our way to the outlets or supermarket.

I know most people say they've never had a problem with transportation...and for the most part Disney does a great job.

However I've gotten stuck waiting for a bus at typhoon lagoon for over an hour. It's also taken us 2.5 hrs to get back from a dinner reservation at AKL to CSR. With having to transfer busses at DD and two busses were full before we could even get on. So...the $150 - $200 we pay for a rental car is well worth it in time saved....and no frustration.

Rental car! Can't imagine taking Disney transportation to get anywhere in timely fashion.

Going from resort to resort I've always just taken a taxi. It saves all the time a rental car does at a fraction of the cost.

Car!!! Most definitely.

We like to go to the grocery store, stock up -- much much easier with a car. And we like to do things off the beaten path, like go to minigolf, go to resorts for dining at night. I don't want to waste 2 hours on buses and transfers going from point A to B when it's a 15 minute drive!

I'm voting for rental car too! I wish this had been a poll, I'd like to see those results popcorn:: I like DW buses ok, but also like having a car to go to DTD, other resorts, and a few of the parks (but buses for MK!!). Also, we are going this time during spring break, so heavier crowds = worse bus experience for me :scared1: We also go to WP, so with a car, we can have all our swim stuff in the trunk:beach:
