Looking for your thoughts on these two restaurants: Yachtsman Steakhouse and Concourse Steakhouse. DH enjoys a good steak, while I stay far away from it-don't like red meat. We have been to Concourse and we both liked it. Would go again. Am entertaining the thought of trying the Yachtsman, but need to know if kids would be happy there? DD is 7 and DS is 5. They liked Concourse as well.

I usually go with seafood or pasta if we go to restaurants like these. Again, looking for pros and cons of which you would choose, and why.

Thanks! :)

Okay, I'm going to try to help you out as much as possible. First, take a look at both menus.

I've been by the Concourse and it was very very small. I've never eaten at those two restaurants. People talk about the Yachtsman very highly. Sorry, This is all I know, have fun!::MickeyMo

We ate at Yachtsman last Dec., and it was delicious!! I started with the oysters Rockefeller, then the Prime Rib. Can't remember if DD had an appetizer, but she had a very good steak. We also had the sauteed mushrooms - MMMMMM!!

Very nice dinner, saw lots of people with children, had a wonderful waiter named Ricardo! We highly recommend this restaurant!:teeth:

Go with Yachtman's, for two reasons: you've tried the Concourse Steakhouse; and the Yachtman's is simply a better restaurant. It's more formal, MUCH more quiet, and quite romantic. The steaks are much better too. You're more likely to get what you want. The wine list is excellent.

If you're wondering if your kids will be happy there, it depends on how your kids behave in a formal restaurant.

We have eaten at both and Yachtman wins my vote hands down. We have eaten there 3 times and have always had excellent food and service. The last time my husband had porterhouse I think ,and I had the filet.I think they have a chicken dish and a fish as well. Wonderful bread with roasted garlic and great desserts! I think you'll really enjoy it!

I've enjoyed both, but would give Yachtsman's the higher grade. The only are where Concourse Steakhouse beat out Yachtsman's was location/view, nothing beats that Grand Canyon Concourse location (except being up at the California Grille).

My personal preference for a great steakhouse would be Shula's. I just had my second great visit there a few weeks ago. Great service, amazing food, huge portions, terrific atmosphere. It can't be beat.

I'd go with Yachtsman also. During our previous meals there, we've always seen plenty of kids about the age of yours.

For DH, I can personally recommend that previously mentioned Porterhouse and also the Bourbon crusted NY Strip.

We ate at Yachtman's just last week...absolutely wonderful. Great food and wonderful service. DH had steak and I had the rack of lamb. Yummy! We also had our DGD with us, 8 1/2 yrs old, and she liked it there very much. She had the cupcake/white chocolate puzzle for dessert. She had a lot of fun "painting" the puzzle. There were children of all ages there while we were there.

Enjoy!

Thanks for posting all of the YSH feedback. I made a PS for our trip which will probably be our "anniversary dinner"...we haven't eaten here in years! We used to love it.

I know there was a period where it was getting some "not so good reviews" and since it is one of the more "pricier" WDW restaurants (although Shula's takes the "priciest" spot) I want to hear mostly good things:p

And since I've been hearing good reviews I decided to make that PS.

Eaten at both and it's Yachtsman hands down-eat there every trip. Asparagus is wonderful, they have an awesome chicken pasta primavera dish and one of the best steaks around (sorry I love red meat)-bourbon strip loin my definite fav. The smashed potatoes are DD's favorite and DS loves their caesar salad.

Another vote for Yachtsman - hands down! They are good with kids, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I too am not a red meat eater but they recently added a great sea bass. Salads and soups are good too. We were just there in April. Your kids will be fine and love the kid menu.

Thanks for all the info. I think I'll go ahead and try to get a PS for our July trip. :)

Im loving this thread! ;)
We plan to try YSH for the first time on our anniversary in July. Of course, Im not quite sure what to expect, but with all these great reviews Im feeling more comfortable.
Thanks everyone. :D

As you can tell from my "tag" you have my vote!

I have a ps for Yachtmans in July,
They say "smart casual" no tank tops.
Do you think they would allow a dressy one.For gosh sakes it's florida in july! Any help would be great thanks much.::MinnieMo  ::MinnieMo

"Smart casual" means nice shorts, shoes, and sandals. Depends what you mean by a "dressy" tanktop.

Concourse is GREAT. I've eaten there 4 times + 3 or 4 times for breakfast. My steak has to be done the way I like it. I have always received my steak correct the FIRST time at Concourse, Service has ALWAYS been outstanding, and the atmosphere is cool.

Been to Yachtsman once....ONCE....I wouldn't return again if it were free.

I ate at the Yachtsman a few years ago, and would not set foot in the place again if it was the last restaurant in Florida. 1. The food and atmosphere is not nearly as nice as the staff seems to think it is. It is presented as a posh place, but the food is ordinary and the service was disastrous. 2. I had an "altercation" with the maitre d' that resulted in a hotel lobby screaming match between he and I, and an apologetic phone call from WDW HQ a few weeks later.

Skip this overrated place. I've heard LeCellier in the Canada pavilion is a great steakhouse. I'd rather Citricos, Cali Grill or Boma any day of the week.

Good luck,
Megara79
