Which do you like better? We ate at Le Cellier for the first time in Oct. and absolutely loved the filet. I'm not much of meat eater but even I thought it was awesome! Well, after trying and trying to get a reservation at Le Cellier for this trip I finally just made one for Yachtsman instead. We are here now and I was just able to snag a lunch reservation for Le Cellier (on a different day) so now I'm trying to decide which to keep, or if I really need to do both. Just as an FYI, we have two children so this isn't an adult only meal. Also, we aren't on a DDP.

I'd love to hear your opinions. :thumbsup2

Thanks!
Debbie

Yachtsman is fine dining set in a beautiful hotel. Meats are cut fresh daily; you will walk by the meat on your way into the dining area. It's quiet, elegant, lovely food presentation. Entrees are a la carte, sides are "extra". It's relaxing, slow paced, a great place to enjoy a bottle of wine.

Le Cellier is a nice amusement park place to eat.

While LeCellier is good, Yachtsman is great! Going to YSH is fine dining, while LeCellier is simply eating out.

Although we are definitlely in the minority here, we do not care for Yachtsmens Steakhouse. We have tried it 3 times and we have simply not enjoyed the food. And DH is a butcher, so he knows his cuts of meat.
The restaurant is beautiful, the service is topnotch, but we all felt that the food was over spiced/over sauced. O was most excited about this ADR on a past trip and I was very disappointed. We will not return.
Just our opinion.

IMO, Le Cellier can't hold a candle to YSH.

OKWLover said it well. :thumbsup2

We have done Yachtsman several times and it is a fantastic place to eat and one of our favorites!

Le Cellier is good, YSH is even better though it costs more so to be expected. If on plan Le Cellier is good value as is one of the better one credit meals but isnt quite up to the two credits of the signature dining places.

ITA!
We've dined at both w/ our DS10 & DD14.

You said you'll have children with you. I don't know their ages but I'm not sure I'd bring young kids in with me. We enjoyed a nice, slow-paced meal...it took about 2.5 hours. If your kids are fine with sitting for a meal like that, then I say, "Go for it!".

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate you taking the time to give me your opinions. :goodvibes

We've decided to go ahead and do both. :woohoo:

Thanks again,
Debbie

We've done both restaurants several times, and we'll be doing both on our next trip.

They both have some great qualities, but I much prefer YSH. :earsboy:

We've done both.

Le Cellier was quite good.

Yachtsman was FABULOUS! Excellent food, ambiance and service...and the price reflected that.

We included room in our dining budget for YSH again in our trip next month.

If I had a choice I would pick YS ove LeCellier even thought I do like that too but YS is better in every facet from waitxtaff to the food. I owuld stick to lunch at LeCellier and dinner for YS have a FUNtastic time:)

Yachtsman...those wonderful pull apart rolls with the fresh roasted garlic...oh boy yum...oh and the filet is awesome too!

I guess we are in the minority here, but having eaten in both last week we'd choose Le Cellier over Yachtsman's.

First lets talk about value. Le Cellier is simply a better value for your dollar if you are paying cash. If you are on the dining plan Le Cellier is even a greater value at one TS credit versus two.

But it shouldn't just be about the value when you are talking about eating out. Heck, the dinner prices at Le Cellier are up and the Mushroom Filet there now goes for $34.99, as compared to the $39.00 Yachtsman's filet. So neither is cheap! But what about the food? We have eaten at Le Cellier numerous times. I'll compare filets for this review. The Mushroom Filet at Le Cellier is excellent. It is a very good cut of meat. Good sized and very tender. Served with the mushroom risotto and the sauce it is extremely flavorful, and we always finish everything on the plate. As for Yachtsman's, I will say that their filet, the piece of meat itself, is a little better. A little more tender, a little more flavorful. But we are talking little more, splitting hairs really. Where we felt Yachtsman's fell short were the sides. The filet was served with a heap of mashed potatoes that were average at best. With the pretzel bread at Le Cellier they get the nod for bread. Perhaps the appetizers are a little better at Yachtsman's, but they are also more expensive. The desserts are better at Yachtsman's. But all things considered, and especially given the price/value, if we could only go back to one it would be Le Cellier. It will be a while before we go back to Yachtsman's because it just didn't impress us, and there are many other Signature dining locations that warrant a try.

A few other observations regarding these locations. Le Cellier is not a one trick pony on the Mushroom Filet. A new menu item is the coffee rubbed Kansas City (bone-in) Strip with a hazelnut butter sauce. Yeah, I thought the same thing. Coffee and hazelnut? Let me tell you.....it was excellent. I'd order it again in a heartbeat. Yachtsman's, on the other hand, was a disappointment for my alternate. I ordered the Waygu beef. $59 bucks for a steak....but we were on the dining plan, so what do I care? I was curious about this expensive Australian cut. The waiter did warn that it had a high marbleization and fat content, similar to a NY Strip. While the flavor and tenderness (for a strip, which usually aren't that tender) were very good, there was so much fat that eating it wasn't enjoyable. Of the 10 oz cut I must have left 2 oz on the plate that was pure, inedible fat. I don't know if this is typical of this piece of meat, or if it was just a poor butchering job, but my curiosity is satisfied and I'd never order it there again. On a similar note as above, the side with my steak was a heap of truffle mashed potatoes that was average at best.

So, Le Cellier impressed us on this trip for the umpteenth time, while Yachtsman's left us flat. It was good, even very good, but perhaps not worth the money or credits. As for signature dining, this past trip we ate at Narcoossee's, Citircos, and Yacthsmen's, and I'd put them in that order in terms of which is best. That said, Le Cellier is just an incredible meal for a single TS credit.

I've done both and very much prefer the Yachtsman. The steaks are hand cut daily and all their food is freshly prepared daily. Personally I feel it's worth 2 dining credits. I have all of my special birthday and anniversary dinner's there.

I gave up going to LeCellier - I personally don't like hearing everyone's conversations around me and feeling like everyone is listening to mine in my opinion all the tables are just too close.

I hope you have a great time on your vacation.

give 'em something to talk about!:cool1:

I agree! Do both! They're two different experiences.

I think the EPCOT World Showcase restaurants are something special. Different. They are "eating out." They are just glorified fast food. But it's something different than anything else you can find (pretty much anywhere in the world... I mean, where else can you find simulated fine dining in a theme park arena?). Le Cellier is the best of them.

The resort restaurants are often a very different experience. And the Yachtsman Steakhouse is a perfect example of this. It's a fine dining experience. The food and service are great. Although it's "themed," it's really not that different than what you could find in most parts of the country. But it's a great meal. And if that's what you're looking for, this is one of the places to go.

So again.... do both if you can!
